  1. Had no time for an update yesterday. Anyway, some things have happened.
  2. Didn't really have time to post anything yesterday, so here is something to make up for it. Final part of the spine finished. I also completed the rest of the side parts and I've begun putting them in their proper place along the edge of the hull.
  3. Added some additional structure to the ship and started on the side parts.
  4. Rear spine part finished and mounted in place together with the middle spine.
  5. Time for an epic scratch build! As I've mentioned above, I was supposed to build an epic sized ship, a Pelta-class frigate, but it proved to difficult. Instead it was decided to switch to another ship of about the same size, known as an Arquitens-class light cruiser. The ship is estimated to be 20 inches long when finished so it's going to be a beast. I decided to start with the underside of the ship. While the top half is angled slightly like Star Destroyers, the belly is fairly flat and proved a great starting point. Several individual plasticard pieces had to be cut and glued together to get this shape. I've had to do several panel lines already, as they would be much harder to do when everything is assembled. To make it easier to build the rest of the ship, and give it some much needed stability I've decided to give the ship a spine of sorts. Below is only the first part, two more will join it later.
  6. After seeing tons of Poe Dameron repaints it's nice to see a different take on the T-70. I do think the damage is a bit over the top but a good looking model none the less. Thumbs up mate!
  7. Hida77: I think you manage to nail every important point. Yeah, when I painted these two, I didn't want to do anything spectaular, so they must seem dull in comparison to many of my other repaints. Of course, not every repaint has to be a masterpiece. I sure have spoiled you guys.
  8. Bump. Go to my blog or my forum thread for the rest of the pictures.
  9. The stock A-wings are indeed quite well painted, especially the Rebel Aces one. Speaking of... My second A-wing, same idea as the previous one. Basically all I've done is repaint the ship to look close to the stock Rebel Aces paintjob, but to a higher standard. I'm not satisfied with the yellow engine glow however.
  10. Doing my part in keeping the thread alive. Go to my blog or my forum thread for the rest of the pictures.
  11. It sure has been a while since I last posted anything. I was supposed to scratch build an epic sized ship but parts of it proved too difficult to build so the entire project had to be put on hold. Anyway I painted this before the scratch build project. I've always liked the A-wing for its swept, arrow-shaped profile and I've also always liked its 'default' paint scheme. As such I didn't really do anything special for this repaint, I mostly imitated the original model. The last picture includes a factory painted A-wing for comparison.

    Cursed Squads

Not in X-wing, however my brits in Flames of War are known far and wide for their ability to fail motivation tests. The record for one squad is failing a 4+ check (with a re-roll) 7 rounds in a row!
  13. Everyone I shown it to (who haven't seen the ship before) asks if it's a sand crawler so that's my suggestion.
  14. Thanks, though which Kath Scarlet are you referring to? To date, I've repainted four Firespray models to represent her ship and in three different versions as well. Mk3 Mk2 Mk1 I do have a tutorial for the first version, though it's a bit out of date compared to my current painting methods.
  15. Another terminator overlord, the Blue Bro! Go to my blog or my forum thread for the rest of the pictures.
  16. From what I've read, all the weapons are hidden in internal bays, ready to be deployed when needed.
  17. I also think that's the problem. However, it's such a **** chore to go back and do something about it now so I'll probably just leave it as is.
  18. A terminator overlord. *Edit 28/10 - 2015* I feel it was probably a bad idea to use a black background together with a mostly black ship so I've retaken the pictures using a blue background instead. Go to my blog or my forum thread for the rest of the pictures.
  19. First of two brobots. This one is obviously detailed using red though the second one will use blue. However that will probably some time in the future as I'm currently repainting some other ships. Of note is the red glow to the rear of the ship which I'm not satisfied with. *Edit 28/10 - 2015* I feel it was probably a bad idea to use a black background together with a mostly black ship so I've retaken the pictures using a blue background instead.
  20. If flown well it could certainly wreck some face. The Phantom in particular might prove challenging to use. The psychological threat of a Phantom mean people will often aim for it even if it isn't the best choice to do so. A palpmobile is also a very tempting target. If you can manuever both so your enemy have a hard time deciding which to target, you should be in business.
  21. I think it's ten Zeds that I've repainted. Scum in general is the most fun to paint.
  22. You are quite right in your observation. The highlights can most certainly make the gloss cockpit windows seem less glossy. If you compare to the Nashtah pup posted at the same time you can see a difference as I didn't highlight that ship to the same extent.
  23. Thanks mate! And that picture is going into my archive of Star Wars stuff that may or may not become a decal in the future. BTW, by tutorial do you perhaps mean something like this? I always say that a painter can never have too many shades of brown. Brown is one of the most diverse colours in existence, probably due to the fact that it isn't truly a colour, but rather combinations of other colours. There are red, green, yellow, bright, dark, blue and grey browns, in fact I think the only major exception is purple. As for painting brown, especially highlighting, you need to find complementing brown colours, as mixing in white often looks wrong. One of my favourite combos is VMC Chocolate Brown as a base and using VGC Earth and VGC Khaki as highlights. I'm going to post a paint guide for this ship on my blog in a few days, hopefully it will prove helpful to you.
