Brobots using glitterstim are not actually using drugs but rather downloading stuff from the holonet that unfortunately had some unfortunate viruses attached.

MacrossVF1s corner of paint and plasticard
MacrossVF1 replied to MacrossVF1's topic in X-Wing Painting and Modification
Finished some of the last structures, applied lots of liquid green stuff and I've also begun building the bridge. -
I really like your latest one! Yellow is without a doubt the most difficult colour to paint, and it's even worse on a dark background. And yet you've managed a great looking ship despite those difficulties! Although we still have one important question left, why a question?

The Ghtroc was the first ship my group got back when I played the WEG Star Wars RPG. Unfortunately it is not a ship I can build. All those curves are hellishly difficult to replicate with plasticard. Instead, those areas need to be sculpted and as good as I am with plasticard, I'm almost equally bad sculpting stuff. BTW CyCo, bad deal, I don't need any kids. They cause a lot of trouble, cost huge amounts of cash, and most importantly, would take my time away from scratch building and painting. And we can't have that, now can we? Anyway, didn't have time to do much today. Basically just repeated on the underside, what I had previously done to the top. -

Even more structures added. It's not long now until all major elements are finished and I can begin on the finer details. -

Here's the thing with Walter Veil's hyper detailed ships, they are exquisitely converted, heck I'm an experienced scratch builder and I don't know if I could do what he does. That said, I just don't like his painting. The ships only have a few basic colours, little in the way of shading, no highlights and the splashes of colours found on the ships are generally water slides. Basically, it just doesn't do it for me, though I would love to get my hands on one of his ships and paint it properly. -

Didn't have time to update yesterday. Was too busy watching Deadpool. Anyway, fixed the end caps for the central tube and added some detailing to the docking boom. Also added some additional structures and detail to the rear of the ship. -

Oh yes, that is one of my better examples of object source lightning. OSL is bloody difficult and not something I have fully mastered but it can certainly be done. Anyway, more work done on the Wayfarer. The crew compartment has been built and both the engine array and crew compartment has been joined to the central tube. -

I didn't bother with an update yesterday as everyone was too busy with the latest preview. Not that I think the situation has improved much by today. Anyway, I've started on the connecting/docking boom. It might not look like much but it's a rather complex piece and extremely important for the rest of the ship. To complicate matters further the starting tube didn't have the right diameter so I had to wrap a layer of additional plasticard around it. The second photo show the start of the engine array/rear of the ship. -

Some additional work on the cargo pod. Of course the container is the easy part, the rest of the ship is slightly more difficult. -

Time for another scratch build! This time it's the Wayfarer-class medium transport. What's that you say? I've already built one of those? And you'd be correct, however this time it's an up-scaled version, making it epic sized. -
Prediction: tractor beams will be the next big thing to whine about
MacrossVF1 replied to WickedGrey's topic in X-Wing
Oh here's an idea. Use your ability to choose obstacles before the battle to lessen the impact of tractor beams. 3 debris fields are not as damaging as asteroids and allows you to attack. The potential stress token can be mitigated with list building. Of course that require people to think outside of their (limited) comfort zone. To the OP: You are probably right, it is likely the tractor beam will casue a flood of complaints. -

Oh yes, the '95 version didn't have good enough graphics to include the yellow markings, at least I can't remember it. I still have my floppy disks for the '95 version. Nostalgia is awesome! Anyway, I was a bit surprised that some of you guys didn't spot the mod. It's subtle yes, but I didn't think it would be near invisible. Here's how I did it: First you need to remove the details marked in red. After that it's a rather simple matter of cutting away a rectangular piece from the front/middle of each solar panel. The green lines show roughly where I cut. Now, do NOT throw away this piece, it will be needed later. When the cuts has been made, the loose piece needs to be trimmed down. All we really want left is the middle of the piece. With the excess removed it's a simple thing to glue the remaining piece back into the previously created cavity. Some modelling putty is needed to fill in any holes and correct any flaws. Voilà, quick and simple Punisher improvement. -

Managed to paint more of my Imperial ships. As with my other TIEs they are painted as if part of Admiral Zaarin's forces. I also did a small mod to the Punisher and yet despite its simplicity it really improves the look of the ship! - - - - -
I have done it more than a few times and I'm bloody ashamed of myself every time it has happened, especially since I have marked my own dials to ensure it shouldn't happen! In most cases I have been so quick in realizing that I picked the wrong dial that no real harm was done ie I didn't even see the intended move. The few times I did see the move clearly I urged my opponent to replan their move. Even if they kept the same move, at the very least I couldn't claim to know the manuever beforehand.

There's quite a lot of Poe repaints floating around the web but this is one of the better ones! I especially like how you've managed to add BB-8!

I actually wrote a tutorial on that very subject about a year ago. http://alternativewargamer.blogspot.se/2015/03/tutorial-scratches-dents-and-blaster.html. As for rust and grime streaking, those are two different subjects. Rust tend to accumulate rather slowly and rust streaks can take a long time to form. As such, rust streaking is usually found on objects that has been standing unmoving/or moved rather slowly, for long periods of time and go towards the nearest gravity source, usually towards the floor/ground. Dirt and grime usually gather much faster and are much more sensitive to movement. Therefore it's often better to paint dirt and/or grime going in the direction of travel of the ship. Of course if the ship has been standing still, it is perfectly okay to paint streaks as running down towards the floor/ground. -
I have always maintained that a single Phantom, even a Sigma equipped only with a SPA, is a great addition to any squad. If nothing else, they present a huge psychological threat which means that many players will do their utmost to bring it down, even when it's not the most optimal situation to do so. It's a little bit like the old rules for frenzy in Warhammer Fantasy and a cunning player can exploit this to their advantage.

Gotta agree with Captain Lackwit. Vassal, even when working as intended, is an unwieldy mess at the best of times. Seriously, I don't understand how anyone can stand using it.

Thanks for the offer. Now while I'm not terribly interested in casting this ship, it might come up in the future. Perhaps more importantly, unlike me, you seem to know what resin casting is all about. Just one of my many questions on the subject, wouldn't a ship of this size be prohibitively heavy? The ship is about 50cm long, 20cm wide and 10cm high. Photos of other ships will be added, can't be believe I forgot about that. What? No! I need those skills! How else am I supposed to maintain my edge over the rest of you plebeians. -

If only that last bit with the thrown female underwear had been true. I'm seriously laughing my ass off here. To be fair, he said panties. He didn't say it was women wearing or throwing them... True, but I prefer to think of it that way. I dare not imagine the alternative.
