We might see a StealthX with 4 attack and a cloaking ability. Right?
-
I agree, the E-Wing should've had 4 attack dice. Either way, I think the only reason the Phantom has 4 dice is because there can potentially be several turns where it cannot shoot. But then they got the ACS soooooo.....

I would be more than excited and willing to make a trip for an X-Wing 5k event. I've participated at Star City Games: Los Angeles as well as several PTQs for MtG and seeing such a huge community gather for a specific game is exciting to play in- hell, it's exciting even just to watch. Unfortunately, there are huge problems in comparison to MtG: - MtG has an established player base that spans two decades, where X-Wing may have thousands of players in a region, MtG has tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, in a given region. Not to mention the outreach, where I was playing players from Brooklyn to South Korea at LA. I don't think X-Wing has become that established yet. - MtG also supports about 5 key formats: Standard, Modern, Legacy, Sealed and Draft. This provides an eclectic and dynamic environment that appeals to so many more people which yields the turnouts of 5k events. After I dropped from the Standard main event, I played like 6 rounds of Commander (EDH for the hardcore MtG nards) and still had a blast AND made my money back in store credit. - X-Wing will take up waaaaayyyy more space than MtG, which will affect the cost of renting convention halls/rooms drastically. Where you can fit about 3-4 players on 3x6 table, you have to set at least a 3x3 play area just for the field, as well as room for cards and templates on the table, plus 360 degree access to the board, and you're looking at about a 5x5 or 6x6 area for a comfortable playing space just for 2 players. Now, multiply that by 500-900 players and factor it into the cost of renting space. - X-Wing also doesn't offer much incentive for players to meet other than just to play the game. What I mean by this is that when you go to a 5k, you're gonna be trading with other players who might have cards you don't have, you're gonna be buying and selling to the vendors to get what is necessary to play of to turn a profit, you're gonna play to win packs/store credit in multiple events so you won't come out empty handed, you're gonna go to play against celebrity MtG players who flew in from WA or drove out from Nevada or San Diego. A lot of big things for small people happen at these big events and I'm not sure if X-Wing can offer that yet. I don't mean to be such a Negative Nancy about this, but that's the unfortunate reality. I plan on going to the next SCG: LA event just play at side events for the day. But if X-Wing were to have a huge event like this, I would happily pay $40, $50 but no more than $75 to participate in a HUGE 5k-esque event. In comparison to big time Magic, here are some things X-Wing can do to accommodate the player base for a huge, fun event: - Support for multiple formats with smaller prize support: Have side events like 2v2 Epic tourneys, 35 point 4 man FFA-Fluffball, separate 100 point Standard tourneys for those who dropped out of the big money tournament. - Broadcast live events: Broadcast the top 8 players throughout the tournament for the global community to spectate. A Twitch.tv feed or YouTube live feed will help boost interest in the event so that future events will have bigger turnouts. - Celebrity appearances: If the organizer can have Billy Dee Williams or Mark Hamill show up to one of these events to spectate and sign autographs or even play in, there would probably be a higher turnout for novelty alone. Having a stand-alone table with a SW celeb that is also being broadcast is a great opportunity for fans and gamers to interact with their favorite characters. Although, this is probably the most far-fetched idea. Anyway, just the thought of an X-Wing 5k gets me excited. Hopefully one day it will become popular enough for it to come close to MtG 5ks, but until then I'm just going to do my best to enjoy the fun, casualness of the game and the occasional LGS tournaments.

Biggs in a Falcon?

It's just one guy, I don't mind the Outrider discussion or theorycrafting of other builds. I'm just looking for constructive criticism for fighting Phantoms. Are you down to get some play testing done some time this week? The only day I won't be free is Wednesday. We could do GMI since its much closer.

If you land a crit with an Ion Cannon they won't be able to cancel it unless they stay out of arc or use their evade action.

1. I guess jokes, sarcasm or being facetious isn't a part of your agenda. If it was, you probably would've been socially literate enough to realize that it was a joke meant to poke fun at the potential Phantom meta-call. 2. I would appreciate constructive reasoning, arguments, alternatives and discussion as a means to reinforce your claim of "Ten Numb sucks. That is all. There are plenty of more efficient ways to kill phantoms." because without such means I (and I'm sure the rest of the community willing to hold an open discussion) find your lack of depth disturbing. Back to Ten Numb, in hindsight, I think equipping Veteran Instincts is a better plan. PS10 will move him last among all Phantoms and he'll be getting his shots before they can recloak. I'm not sure how I feel about Auto Blasters on Ten, though. Sure you might get crits, but range 1 is extremely limiting, you might as well be firing your primary for 4 at the Phantom. I like the idea of Jan Ors, using her ability to charge an Ion Cannon would be great for increasing crit chances. The builds I currently have in mind would be Ten along with either Jan as support and a pair of Z's with munition fail safes, Ten with Han, or Ten with Etahn and a Biggs. I still need to do point calculations to see if they'll fit.

I'd say 18 points but not have it be able to shoot since it is pretty much a moving bomb that has the potential to deal 3 damage if you kamikaze it at the right time. "Chef" PS8 B-Wing When performing a barrel roll action, you may receive 2 stress tokens to use the 1-bank, 2-bank or 3-bank template instead of the 1-straight template. EPT

That was one of my points, forcing Phantoms (or any ship, really) to arc dodge Ten Numb makes them that much more predictable for Han or the rest of the squadron to chase down.
-
Guys, I think I just broke the meta. Ten Numb + Marksmanship + Ion Cannon + Adv. Sensors The build starts off at 40 with he above setup and there's room to add Biggs and Etahn, decked out Han, Z-Swarm w/Cracken. You can even exchange Adv. Sensors for an FCS to even better increase the likeliness to hit something or even add an Engine Upgrade for more movement options. Ten Numb's ability with an ion cannon will force Phantom players to either evade or arc dodge applying pressure to their strategy and making their moves much more predictable. Basically just super-focus with Marksmanship and ion things, then play cleanup the next turn with the rest of your squadron and keep on ioning them. Maybe when the /E mod comes out, put a Tactician in there with him to stress and ion things.

Joe, I truly appreciate the excitement and positive enthusiasm you bring to this forum.

Jar Jar Binks - Crew Republic Only. Treat all your red maneuvers as green maneuvers and all green maneuvers as red maneuvers. 4pts

What makes X-wing so popular (and gets converts from other games)?
SpikeSpiegel replied to ShrineDawg's topic in X-Wing
B-Wings made me drop 40k and convert to X-Wing. -
I've seen Etahn mainly used as a support aggressor, fly him in a formation and turn your squadron's hits to crits to chew up TIEs.

Will Gunner be worth it on B-Wings after the B-Wing/E mod?
SpikeSpiegel replied to Gibarian's topic in X-Wing
Maybe. You do only gain 2 greens out of it: the 3-straight and 4-straight. The latter used to be red, of course, and having free access to it would finally let the B-wings keep up with X-wings and Z-95s on the initial approach, but is that really worth 2 points? I'm not convinced. Sure, you only gain 2 greens, but the 3 and unstressed 4 could be great for chasing down Phantoms. -

I think Nien Nunb on a B-Wing would be good. -
EU is also short for Engine Upgrade. PTL is short for Push The Limits, which is an EPT- or, Elite Pilot Trait/Talent "Put an EU on Ibtisam with PTL as her EPT and you can get a highly maneuverable and efficient fighter." or "The Lambda would greatly benefit from the EU." In the context of EU meaning Extended Universe, the acronym is often found in the discussion of ships found in video games or non-film appearances, such as the Wave 4 and 5 ships, the HWK-290 and ships people wish to see in future waves. "I'm really excited that FFG is willing to dig into the EU for more ships. I loved [insert 90s SW game here] and can't wait to use them on the tabletop!"

3 attack on an ARC is reasonable. The whole "less advance technology" is just the lazy-man's argument to limiting prequel ships to near-unplayability. Sure, the tech wasn't as advanced but the firepower filled the same role as its successor. Also, I don't see why it shouldn't have 3 attack, it was a heavy fighter meant for extended missions, I would assume they would put enough firepower on it for its crew to hold out on their own. I feel like a ship like the ARC would find balance with the proposed stats from a double-length or length-and-a-half of a small ship's base to limit the rear firing arc since it isn't as large as the Firespray and it probably has more of a blindspot. A new base size would also add a new aspect to maneuvering to simulate the ARC's sluggish nature. I really like the stats provided in the OP. It would really come down to the dial to balance this ship out. Maybe a red 5K, red 2 and 3 hard turns, 1 straights/banks and 2 straight are green, 2 banks 3 hard/bank/straight and 4 straight are white?

I use Ten Numb and Marksmanship. Eats up Phantoms all day.

Probably A for about 1 or 2 more waves, then B.
