Control is the most boring archetype in Magic whether you're playing it or playing against it.

Someone Emma Watson can play as because I am hopelessly infatuated with her.

From the tournaments I've played squadron building is cumulative. Meaning the ships you take cannot be exchanged but upgrades can be added to them as available points increase. We were required to write out our lists on a form indicating which ships and upgrades will be in play by marking the points in the round they will be showing up in next to them. Example:
Wedge (60)
-Predator (60)
-R2D2 (90)
Biggs (60)
-R2F2 (60)
Bandit Squadron Pilot (90)
Bandit Squadron Pilot (90)
Ibtisam (120)
Push the Limits (120)
The additions/upgrades are written down at the beginning of the tournament to establish a set list and avoid cheating. Here is the PDF in case you haven't seen it yet:

Hope this helps.

I'd rather take 4 Z-95s/TIEs at that point because body count means the world in Epic play.

I recommend running any Falcon build with Expert Handling. Defying the laws of physics and barrel rolling into range 1 and possibly shaking a target lock is absolutely insane on a Falcon. If you have 3 Z-95s, I'd toss them in there over Rookie Pilots for more bodies to put onto the field.

Here's what I've thrown together for a two-ship build:
Han Solo
-Expert Handling
-C-3PO
-Gunner
-Falcon Title
Corran Horn
-Veteran Instincts
-R2-D2
-Advanced Sensors
Comes out to exactly 100.

I wonder if WonderWAAAGH is a cool guy in person.

But the fluff...
-
I've played 300 and 500 point epic games and it usually sways towards one side quickly. Once one person has destroyed about 75-100 more points over their enemy the game just becomes target practice/cleanup for the side that gained the leverage. Fun as all hell, though.
The goal is to get 2k of models from each side on the table for an EPIC! X-Wing-athon with massive carnage and obliteration and combos and swarms and high pilot skill and Tri-bounty hunters and Tri-YTs and 6 Decimators and every named X-Wing pilot and Ten Numb and a decked out Tantive with Gunner and Defenders and a squadron of Phantoms and Corran Horn with Expose and a bunch of Y-Wings flying through a hornets' nest of Interceptors and you get the idea.
It will happen. I will make it happen. And there will be pictures.

I just think the Y-Wing buff should be paired with an X-Wing to match the fluff of the video game...

I was reading up on the Wookieepedia and found this little bit of information on Keyan Farlander's page:
"Following simulator training on the B-wing, Farlander got to use the new bomber in combat for the first time in an attack on a TIE fighter staging area near Yunkor IX. He was later one of four handpicked pilots for a mission to destroy an Imperial weapons research facility that was attempting to recreate the Ram's Head's shield technology. Since the base was lightly defended, the Rebels decided to test the tactical effectiveness of their four main starfighters. Farlander flew a B-wing in the mission, pairing with an A-wing, while a second pair consisted of an X-wing and a Y-wing.[14]"
More specifically the last sentence. The above quote is referencing a mission from the 1994 X-Wing game B-Wing expansion pack.
I understand that coincidences are found everywhere when it comes to speculating future X-Wing product, but I think this could be a good coincidence. Rebel Aces is probably paying homage to this game expansion by including the A and B-Wing and Keyan Farlander, so it could be possible that they're saving a "part II" of that homage for the X and Y-Wing for a later release.
And just to put more coincidences together, didn't Imperial Aces take characters and paint schemes from the comics Crimson Empire and X-Wing: Rogue Squadron? Could we also look into more comics with more emphasized unique Imperial ships and characters for hints at an Imperial Aces II, too?
Sorry if this information has been posted before. I'm just excited to share it.

I'm liking these Han builds.
However, I have a question for you guys. What would you use in lieu of C3P0? I know I could proxy the card, but for actual tournaments, I cannot. So I'm curious how you would use those 3 points elsewhere in these builds:
Hans Solo (46)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Gunner Luke (7)
C-3PO (3)
Millenium Falcon (1)
Hull Upgrade (3)
3x Tala Squadron Z-95s (39)
````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
Hans Solo (46)
Expert Handling (2)
Gunner (5)
C-3PO (3)
Millenium Falcon (1)
Engine Upgrade (4)
3x Tala Squadron Z-95s (39)
Tactician, Weapons Engineer, Navigator and Recon Spec. Recon Spec might be the best because it has the chance of turning your focus to an evade.
Han with Luke and predator is more than enough against Whisper, you don't think the VI, and he would be way more solid against other lists. The Z95 are there to block and disrupt, not so much for their damage output, i would just use PS2 Z95.
But PS3 will beat out other Z builds trying to cram points. Gunner-Luke isn't anything special and Predator is redundant with Han's ability. Why bother with a re-roll when you can Barrel Roll into range 1, potentially shake a target lock and get another attack die? Predator is a decent ability, but I think its a trap for Falcon players.
-
I think the Han list is better but I would exchange VI for Expert Handling, Luke for a regular Gunner and the Hull Upgrade for an Engine Upgrade. Having a Falcon that can Boost and Barrel Roll is way too good.
Morgan Reid reacted to this -
Han probably scares me the most. Throw a Gunner on him and you can potentially reroll your shots 4 times and it's bound to hit something, even at range 3 against a Phantom. The second scariest ship would be Echo, the 2-bank decloaking covers the board insanely and allows players to position her perfectly out of firing arcs nearly all of the time.
-
Yeah, I'd say #1 is the list to go with. I play similar list but with Backstabber instead of Curse.
Winner and Vorpal Sword reacted to this -
6 Attack
2 Evade
10 Shield
6 Hull
Due to the major losses in the war, the Imperials are imposing much higher taxes in order to make up for them.
Join the Rebellion. Pay less taxes.
I haven't changed my mind about introducing the prequel ships to a separate-but-compatible game yet and I still think it would be interesting to design some ships. I usually see prequel threads pop up once a week with recommendations for a ship to be designed and now I feel obligated to bring it up each week. I'll make this week 1 of a series of threads to design prequel ships, and I'll link back to each thread every week. Hopefully it will be interesting enough to stick around and fun to look back on.
If you are opposed to the ideas of prequel ships, you are still more than welcome to share your opinions. Though, I kindly request to try to keep things on an objective, design-based criticism to help those of us that are interested in designing ships design better ships and improve our knowledge, input and overall ideas for the game.
With that being said, lets design the Eta-2 Actis-class Light Interceptor!
Flavor fully, Eta-2s were agile, had little to no shielding and couldn't take much of a beat down. They were armed with Ion Cannons and Astromech, as well as being piloted by force-sensitive Jedi, which is a fair trade off for an agile, weak interceptor.
Eta-2 Light Interceptor
Attack: 2
Agility: 3
Shield: 1
Hull: 2
Actions: Barrel Roll, Focus, Evade, Target Lock
Cannon, Astromech
I feel the lackluster hit point stats can be made up for with an amazing dial, much like the A-Wing or TIE Interceptor. Having a highly agile, glass cannon of a fighter would be an interesting sight to see on the field. Sure, you can potentially throw an HLC on it and give it 4 Attack for 7 points, but is it worth putting it on a risky 1 Shield 2 Hull ship? But with the low HP value, I'm not sure if this shoehorns players wanting to field the Eta-2 into a position where they feel the absolute necessity to run them with a cannon upgrade or not at all.
I also think Target Lock might also be able to be replaced by a new Jedi-specific action, and the lowest PS, non-Jedi pilot will miss out on this ability reducing its action bar to 3 actions. But that's a whole other design scheme that can be tackled later. If this is the case for a generic, non-Jedi pilot, I think it would be safe to add 1 Hull or Shield to the ship, since it was mostly the Jedi who liked to run their Eta-2s with little shielding.
I'd also like to see what pilots and abilities we can come up with for the Eta-2. Design away!
Cumberbatch would make a better Maarek Stele imo. Fel would probably look like Bruce Willis.
Michelle Rodriguez or Moon Bloodgood as Echo? I still associate Echo as a female.
