Does ____ breathe new life into Saboteur?

It's a requirement for graduation for some states. We were just bored and it was an after school thing we signed up for. -
Does ____ breathe new life into Saboteur?
SpikeSpiegel replied to DraconPyrothayan's topic in X-Wing
Ha, this reminded me of that time in high school when my buddy practiced CPR on this really busty girl we both had a liking to and he ended up getting her pregnant the next week. Unfortunately, the baby was a stillborn and both of them were heartbroken for quite awhile, not over each other, but rather the loss of life. They tried dating for awhile after she graduated, but she ended up moving to not-anywhere-in-California so they had to break up. Real sad. Saboteur will still be bad. -

Title that affects the whole squad instead of just 1 ship?
SpikeSpiegel replied to pickirk01's topic in X-Wing
This is pretty much WonderWAAAGH's formations idea from a few weeks back. Meeting requirements is the drawback, rewarding the player for meeting those requirements through special abilities is the advantage. I tested out one of his ideas on a Defender lists and it worked out great. It offered a "fix" without needing a bajillion roundabout upgrade cards to address whatever problem the Defenders had, such as PS and lack of an EPT. Basically, squadron titles are a way of providing fixes and rewarding synergetic lists while leaving design space open on the rest of the card so as little things like Chardaan Refit and A-Wing Test Pilot don't eat up the limited upgrade space on pilot cards. -

Proof that the K-Wing was designed by a 4th Grader.
SpikeSpiegel replied to gamblertuba's topic in X-Wing
Forgot what I was gonna say, but I couldn't agree more. Real world military function is fun too. Like needing a high altitude bomber in late WWII spawned the B-29: Tube. Wings. Bombs. Done. The K-Wing fits that same design philosophy as well, but you pretty much nailed it when you said that functionality in fiction can be a little more pretty because it is only fiction after all. -

But it is beautiful. Its designed to do a job and do it well and they did it beautifly I'm no fan of the K-Wing, but I guess you can apply that same logic to it.Rebel inquiry: We need something full of guns, bombs, and it has to be fast and tough. Ugly as hell. Check. Stupid as hell. Check. Full of bombs. Check Full of guns. Check Fast and tough. Check. If they didn't request for the K-Wing to look good or not be stupid, then Koensyer (whatever their manufacturer is) completed the objective, right? -

Disney considering a Marvel and Star Wars TV channel
SpikeSpiegel replied to Imperial Advisor Arem Heshvaun's topic in X-Wing
I just hope we don't get a terrible quality Star Wars show like Agents of SHIELD. ABC Productions and their quality of television is great for things like Castle, Revenge or Desperate Housewives, but I feel like they flopped with Agents, and as much as I enjoyed Daredevil on Netflix, it still had that cheaply made feel to it. I wouldn't want that happening to the Star Wars franchise. If they do decide to make SW on TV, hopefully it'll be things like a SW history show that explores the Legends EU, or behind-the-scenes of the making of SW things, or an HBO/AMC cinematic production quality TV series for people to watch. -
One mistake I feel FFG made was making the two Rebel Epic ships back-to-back without doing a Rebel-Imperial Epic release. In my opinion, what has ended up happening, is that now that they've waited a year for the release of the Raider, people have bought into the Rebel Epic ships, rarely play any games of Epic because of the lack of an Imperial counterpart for a year, and they are now feeling Epic is stale and FFG has lost a lot of potential interest in the format. Maybe the Raider can make the format salvageable, and as much as I hate to say it, I doubt it will be. It's a little too late for a proper release of Epic for it to be hitting the ground running rather than being on the back burner for quite awhile. One of the reasons Epic ships even sell is because of the Standard dogfight cards that are included in it, not to mention that many of these cards are staples in competitive play. That's why they stuffed the Raider with a TIE Advanced and many copies of ATC and x1 titles. Nothing wrong with it, it's just kinda like "HA! Got you! Now you have an Epic ship you have to have fun with!" As for supporting the format of Epic, I would like to see promos for Raymus Antilles or alt. art ship cards, like a promo big card that has the fore and the aft, and then you can just stack the flip side of the damaged fore or aft on top of it when the time comes. Acrylic tokens specific to the Epic format would be pretty awesome too because people are gonna want the acrylic energy and reinforce tokens, maybe even acrylic range and movement rulers as the big prize. There's a lot that can be done for the Epic format, it just has to be done.

Regional prep: how do you fight a control build?
SpikeSpiegel replied to nikk whyte's topic in X-Wing
It's hard to translate control, aggro and tempo from Magic terms into X-Wing since all of your resources are readily available. Closest examples would be Control: Limiting movement, limiting actions or ability to interact. Stress effects, Ion effects, dedicated blockers, etc. Aggro: Overwhelming force through sheer firepower. TIE Swarms, BBBBZ, HLC/Mangler platforms (IGs), Vader crew, boosting/barrel rolling into range 1 constantly, like RAC and Soontir. Tempo: I'd say tempo would be much more fitting as attrition, whittling down the enemy in a cost effective matter. Fat Han and Z's, Dash-Corran, Phantom builds, Chewbacca-Lando, Triple Firespray, Biggs Walks the Dogs Of course, in X-Wing, everything changes with every game. There's no dedicated, finite way to play a build, MAYBE with the exception of Rebel Control. You may run Han like an Aggro build, IGs can adapt an attrition strategy against its harder matchups and TIE Swarm may use tempo to bring down other tempo builds through the death-by-a-million cuts way of killing things rather than getting into range 1 ASAP and risk getting blown up right away. -
EPT to make viable: Daredevil New Pilot Ability: When executing a hard maneuver, you may assign an evade token to your ship. And put it on a Decimator... YAY FOR 16 HIT POINTS AND DOUBLE EVADES EVERY TURN FOR NO REASON!!!

It really does sound something very Star Wars-y. Like a new Rogue Squadron pilot. But given that its the SW universe they'd probably make him Bothan and have his name ridiculously spelled out like Dyægoh Loonuh in order to mask the real-world likeness of the name.

Yes, its release is due for December 2016 and is set to take place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.

I remember there being speculation about Felicity Jones possibly being the leading actor, I never heard it was confirmed she would be the only centerpiece/main character. I understand how it can be disappointing to discover that it isn't only a female lead, but I'm sure those who have this story in their hands will be supporting strong female characters in this movie. Because on the bright side, we can no longer have Star Wars be a solely dude-driven space opera. Times are changing and the audience and fan base is so much wider now that Lucasfilm/Disney would be fools not to reach out to their growing female audience. We already have Lupita and Jason as part of a main crew of characters for TFA, also, it seems that junkyard chick and Captain Phasma are female roles that will have importance to this trilogy, so already SW is making a big leap in gender and racial diversity. However, on the more sinister side, it is possible that they feel a female-only main role would not be as profitable as a male-led role or male and female-led role because of the already established masculine tones of the Star Wars universe for whatever they have planned for Rogue One. And something that I feel is just as important as incorporating gender and racial/ethnic diversity in the SWU: If this turns out to be a rehash of Dark Forces, I can't help but wonder and hope if Disney is paying its respects to the Legends canon by integrating EU stories into big screen renditions. Even if it isn't 100% true to the original Dark Forces, maybe it is opening a possible spinoff series following Miss Jan and Señor Katarn. Does this mean we might get a Rogue Squadron movie? Or how about that live action rendition of Shadows of the Empire that Boy George wanted to see in the 90s after the SotE project was a huge, multimedia platform success? I mean, this is all baseless spec, but if it does turn out to be Dark Forces, it will, give me hope that Disney is reintegrating at least some of the Legends canon.
