  1. Being Burly means that you are bigger with a wider base and lower center of gravity. You know how to use your strength and extra size to your advantage. This is a whole body condition not just having strong hands or arms. So the talent should apply to the weapon of your choice whether in you hands, on your back, or slung on your hip. You are a big dude and it makes it easier to carry big stuff. I would think a guy with multiple burly would have some in game problems fitting in an x-wing cockpit, squeezing into vents, reaching a scratch in the middle of his back. Porkins is a Y-wing fighter because he doesn't have a choice. I had a chance to get into a indy race car once and found out burly is a disadvantage in some things.
  2. Can we add a Force Level 8 option give them 2,000 xp and call it Unleashed level? It would satisfy the players looking to pull Star Destroyers out of the sky. This talk of giving players anything just hurts the evil core of my cold game master heart.
  3. I am starting a play by post campaign based on the Darkstryder adventure series originally published by WEG. The gamesite is at http://www.dailydoserpg.com/ and the forum for posts is at http://dailydoserpg.boards.net/ . Like the original campaign the players will have 3 characters that are a mixture of pregens and created characters. The characters are a ragtag group of former rebels, fringers, and even a few ex (?) Imperials. Please check us out and consider joining. The DarkStryder Campaign is starting a new Episode this week. The crew will be investigating a ruins of an ancient civilization on the planet Aariss III and trying to find what is killing the Imperial Science team stationed there. Our game is a daily play by post that is meant to be a small addition slice of roleplaying added to your everyday life. We have been running since May and have over 2000 posts on the game forum. If you would like a little extra Star Wars in your day consider joining us at www.dailydoserpg.com Force and Destiny characters may be created to be part of the crew.

  6. Anyone have any idea what talent tree I could add "pelvic sorcery" to? Would Rocket be a tactician? Drax would be a marauder? Groot a bodyguard?
  7. Had a character use deception once to dead drop a proton torpedo from his X-Wing and get another character to run into it. It was a torpedo attack using deception but it fit the narration so we rolled with it. I think if the narration works go with it. It is what separates a narrative game from a strict tactical game or a board game. So I think I will keep with grenades being Ranged (light) or Athletics depending on how you narrate what you are doing and how you doing it. Oh, Trying to throw something in a precise location is the difference between someone brawny and someone who is a trained athlete. Shooting a three pointer is all about athletics, being able to use your power effectively is the center of athletics.
  8. I think we should have 1 skill called hittin stuff, 1 skill called sneakin stuff, and one called thinkin stuff. We can then eliminate all complexity from the game. It is not adding complexity. It is they made all of these skills and only half are useful. Giving Athletics or Coordination a little use in combat may be a good thing. Ranged (light) is the god stat for EotE. It would be good to cut it down a little. I know it is impossible, but all skills should be created equal. They should all be endowed by their creator with a chance to be chosen, be useful, and make a player happy you have the skill. Stepping off soap box now.
  9. I can sit in class and learn about blast radius, but it was years of throwing a baseball that let me hit the target. I basic you spent days practicing shooting and about a half day tossing a grenade. My years of sports beats half a day of grenade practice. I'm not saying you can't use Range (Light) to reflect your training, but Athletics could be an option if the narrative works for it. I would use athletics skill with agility if the situation called for it. Tossing a dart would fall in that category. I would use Athletics with intelligence for recall something about the rules, recalling a statistic, or may calling a good play as a coach. I've played too many good games with flexibility to say athletics is just brawn. Would personally like to some finesse rules to let agility be used in melee and brawl and with Athletics brawn can have some effect on range. If I want to play a classic martial arts guy he is not a 5 brawn guy. Maybe even some brawl mixed with intelligence for pressure points. Okay now I'm just getting crazy! Ranged (light) and Ranged (heavy) are very overpowered skills compared to the others and again half of the skills are barely used in the game. Maybe I have just been listening to skill monkey too much but I am starting to look for ways for all skills to have meaning.
  10. I like new reports and rebellion information feeds between missions. You can hint at future events, put in some red herrings, and build background information. You email them between games and the players have a little something to think about between events.
  11. Some good ideas here. I like the person who stated to put bows, spear, javelins, grenades, all of the more physical weapons in Athletics. It does allow you to have a primitive NPC or PC who is good with a sling but not with a pistol. I know we have the "keep it simple club on board" with EotE it is made to be a keep it simple system, but this is just a little change. You could even use Athletics with agility for throws that need to be precise and brawn for big tosses that just needs to hit a space. On boot camp, I have been to boot camp and have also a minor in physical education as part of my overall education degree. I would be able to speak from experience on both accounts. Throwing and shooting are whole body activities that uses the feet position, leg push, hip movement, shoulders, and finally the arm. Everything I learned in sports directly connected to tossing that grenade an making it drop right on the old rusted jeeps on the grenade training course. I can see the argument that it is part of the ranged light training but if a player said they wanted to use athletics instead I think I would allow it. I think Tom Brady could probably throw a grenade. Greg Maddox would wipe a booger on it, but then throw it like a madman.
  12. If I was having a player throw a rock, ball, or Frisbee in a game I would immediately think to use athletics. When you throw a grenade though the RAW is to use Ranged (light). I would never logically place throwing things under Ranged (light). Would it make more sense to make grenades an athletic roll not a ranged (light) roll?
  13. If we are going by the movies then the Troopers are trained by the A-Team and only have 1 purple die to attack no matter how many are attacking. If we make it to the prequels then clankers only have a 1 purple die in a minion group of four. A half a dozen troopers can shoot 50 times at a farmboy stunned and unmoving at his friend dying and never hit him. Jedi's just casually run through waves of clankers and they never hit anything. The movies are not perfect and should not destroy the use of common sense and logic. If we follow the movies I need to have sound travel through the void of space. I just can't do that.
  14. Maybe just make the regular range difficulties and have them roll athletics (back to the baseball idea) or maybe coordination (though this doesn't seem to include hand eye coordination). I would not mind seeing either of these get included into combat more and Grenades don't seem a like a Ranged light weapon. If you fail maybe it falls in a random direction or at your feet.
