There is a very handy app called the X-Wing Companion which lists all the upgrades/pilots that come with each expansion, highly recommended when starting out and picking which expansion you want first.

If you are looking into playing competitive X-Wing, you will find some of the best lists do involve more than 1 of each ship (BBBBZ, Scum Y's x 4, Z swarm etc.)

Most of all have fun and fly casual!

Can't find the app in the appstore. Is it android only?

Currently, yes, but the author is working on iOS versions.

There is 1 problem with your graphics. You didn't add the normal firing arc of the ships. Because even if there is a donut hole at R1, they still can shoot with 3 dices in front arc.

So just don't blindly do a head-to-head run on them.

Mate, you've missed the entire point of this thread.

So, you're saying the point of this thread, after spending all that time elucidating where the TLT firing arcs overlap to provide guidance on where to attack, is to run straight into the teeth of the formation rather than coming in at the side which would not only minimize the TLT coverage, but remove the primary weapon attacks?

  3. I am hoping that when they release new imperial. Or rebel fighters. They add new fighter cards for already released ships. That way. You can have just an imperial pack. Get 2-4 new fighters. And all the new pilots for the old fighters. Maybe one new one per fighter? Or maybe just one or two new guys total. Say. One x wing. One y. For rebels. And one interceptor one advanced. Something like that.

Given that squadrons aren't the focus of the game, they probably won't do this, or at least not too often.  I wouldn't expect an X-Wing level of variety in terms of named pilots.

Feel free to not play or purchase if this bothers you.

Keep doing your best to drive folks away from the game. I bet FFG loves your defense of them, by telling people to basically get out we don't want you.

Well, aren't you a special snowflake.  I'm sure that FFG is aware that they won't be able to please everyone.  Given that this game is a luxury, if you don't like it, you are free to exercise choice and choose to do something else.  You know, like what adults do.

  5. Don't get me wrong, I buy all the X-wing stuff as I like it.

And most of the time FFG gets the contents of a product right in terms of attractiveness.

However, besides all the blahblahblah about licenses the following are all just a money grab:

    - bundling cards with ships

    - bundling small ships with big ships

    - requiring the new damage deck and putting it in the new starter set

The unfortunate state of affairs is that if you want something specific you'll have to hit the secondary market.

Feel free to not play or purchase if this bothers you.

  6. More draconian business practices.

The new damage deck is REQUIRED on 1/1/16.  So everyone that doesn't want to buy a new core set, stuff it up your piehole.

Well, aren't you a special snowflake.  It's only required for tournament play.  If you don't do tournaments, you're totally welcome to not use it.  And FFG is well within their rights to make that requirement, just so everyone's on the same page.

    Literally anyone except Lucas.

Disney films/Pixar which they have some involvement in, are generally of quality.

This is the company that made Fantasia. It's not going to be ****.

Well, Disney has produced some real stinkers. And most of their direct to video stuff was thoroughly cash driven. But they haven't had a real flop in the last few years, so that's something.

Stinkers with their theatrical releases? Such as?

Mistakes in targeting the right audience perhaps, but stinkers?

A lot of their live action movies in the 60s and 70s.

Since Disney acquired the Star Wars property they have ruthlessly embarked on a well-planned campaign of expansion and merchandising: SW: Rebels was the first step in claiming the Civil War Era, then demolishing the Expanded Universe canon entirely; then the planned sequels and splinter movies. As if on cue, we've receiving SW: Rebels ships and the new Core Set, three months before the film's release, with a tidal wave of new toys and merchandise of characters we hardly know anything about, all before we know if Episode VII is going to be loved or hated.

It all feels a little unfamiliar and forced. If Wave 1-7 was about seeing the most esoteric of the old EU finally represented on the tabletop, Wave 8 and onward is going to be what Disney depicts on screen and dictates to be merchandised. Nostalgia no longer; Cold blooded profit motive is going to be what drives future waves of X-Wing releases.

In a way, it was inevitable, I suppose, that we run out of ships - nostalgia isn't an infinite store. Now, I'm not a curmudgeon or a luddite by any stretch. I fully embrace all new releases and constant change in the meta, which keeps the game fresh and new. I like the new/old T-70 and the F/O TIE, and I love my BB8 Sphero droid. But I can't help feeling a little bit cynical on how Disney is so mechanically and ruthlessly pushing their new range of Star Wars toys on us and how naive we must be (self included) if we're just gobbling it up- all before the film has even been released.

    What a load of crap.

The Expanded Universe was never canon.  Repeat after me: The Expanded Universe was never canon.
