  1. I don't see how that becomes an issue, you move into range 1, you action to board, you are considered part of the enemy ship until you move the following turn which you would get away as fast as possible. Except that each turn in the game is a very short amount of time, probably on the order of 10-20 seconds. The amount of time needed for a boarding party to attach to the outside of a ship, cut through the hull, do their thing, fight off defenders, and get away (assuming that the carrying ship has magically managed to stay in one spot) is on the order of minutes or tens of minutes.
  2. Given that even huge ships are actually moving pretty quickly, the idea of two huge ships coming into contact long enough for a boarding party to transfer seems a bit off for the scope of the game. What if the two ships are moving in opposite directions? Of course, the ship being boarded would do everything in its power to move away from the ship attempting the boarding, which seems to limit that tactic. I could see the idea of a boarding pod, which could replace a weapon, that instead of getting destroyed when coming into contact with a huge ship, attaches to it. It would also give the defending ships an opportunity to destroy the pod before it makes contact.
  3. As much as I like Darth Maul, I don't think that he was the apprentice that Darth Sidious needed during the Clone Wars. Better to kill him off in battle (or not, if you've seen the animated Clone Wars) than to have Sidious dispose of him offscreen.
  4. Horn also flies a Z-95 Headhunter in Wedge's Gamble. I'm sure that they could use a few more pilots, too.
  5. I think that the OT really is seen through rose-colored glasses. To put it in perspective: Star Wars was the first movie I saw in a theater (before it was renamed A New Hope). I've been a fan for a long time, and I love the movies, but I don't think that at their core, they're great filmmaking. The prequels are a lot closer to the OT than most fans would admit.
  6. I guess they missed you not saying that the 'D' is silent.
  7. 42, and pretty much in the upper half of my gaming group. I've been playing various games for over 30 years now. I've played with kids and people older than me, and there enough good and bad players at both ends of the age spectrum that I prefer to give folks the benefit of the doubt, until demonstrated otherwise.

    Rebel Aces 2

I think those are crew cards, not pilot cards. There is only one pilot card, and it's a generic transport pilot. The crew cards would match against Imperial only crew cards, like Darth Vader. That said, I think it's very likely that there will be Imperial huge ships.
  9. I'm going to get two of each wave four ship initially, possibly more later.
  10. Imperials, although given my record so far, it's still a work in progress.
  11. No, you're not missing out. Some people will buy lots of stuff, others only need a few ships. One of the great things about X-Wing is that you can buys the ships that you want, without all the silly randomness that MTG has. In my gaming group, one of my buddies is focusing on Rebel ships, while another really likes Imperials. I myself want to get at least one of each large ship, and at least 2-4 of every small ship, so I can play a variety of lists.
  12. To me that doesn't feel right though, because why would you waste time in a space battle reorienting yourself, you'd just continue flying upside down and not bother. Yeah, but this is Star Wars. As previously said, it is based on WWII fighter maneuvers and not on real world physics.
  13. I haven't had a chance to play with my Lambda Shuttle yet, but I only have a few games under my belt so far .
  14. For me, I am very glad that X-Wing isn't collectible in the same sense that Magic is. One of the main reasons I dropped Magic was finding myself spending $120 to get two boxes of cards, half of which would be useless. With X-Wing, I can spend $10-15 on a small ship, and know that I can use it. FFG should be praised, not scolded.
  15. Yes, the cards in Imperial Aces are worth it. You also get some different unique pilots in the X-Wing and TIE Fighter expansions, so they are worth the money. The TIE Advance is a rare imperial ship (prior to Wave 4) that has shields, and of course you get Vader.
  16. This. An A-Wing and a B-Wing will get you the equivalent ships to tide you over until Rebel Aces comes out.
  17. Rebel Aces won't be out for a while.
  18. Yes, remember that the probabilities are for large sample sizes, and that for small sample sizes you might get runs of really bad (or really good) results.
  19. Actually, you probably should be comparing the X-Wing to the TIE Fighter, since those are most likely the baseline ships. I'm guessing that there are fudge factors involved, which prevents a simple mathematical algorithm.
  20. Also remember that the dice add a level of randomness that you have to account for. I played a couple of games this past weekend, and the Force (i.e., the dice) wasn't with me. There's nothing like shooting Cluster Missiles and doing no damage because you only roll one hit each time, and the target rolled more than enough evasions each time.
