Fewer cards and more ships is generally the better way to go.

X-Wing Squadron Builder. No, there isn't an iOS version.
-
It's very handy for making lists when you have a few minutes of down time.

Some things cannot be unseen

Absolutely I'd keep playing. It hasn't stopped being fun yet. If it does, then it's time to take a break. I've stopped playing very few games (MtG and Mechwarrior: Dark Age for being too expensive, Star Fleet Battles for not having enough players amongst my local group to make keeping up with it worth it). On the other hand, I've had games where I haven't played for a few years, only to pick it up and find that it's fun all over again.

Whoa. Maybe there's just nothing new to report. After all, Rebel Aces and Wave 5 is at the printer, and Wave 4 is already scheduled for reprinting (which suggests that FFG sold a whole bunch of those ships).
-
If you check the upcoming page, you'll see that the MF is being reprinted.

+1 on this. I forwarded the link to the rest of my gaming group, but haven't had a chance to try it out myself. Nice job, Mei

I'll put in another vote for Echo + VI + ACD. Stay at the edges, and use your ACD to the max. Maneuver around to the sides or rear, and use your four-die attack.
-
You should definitely get that second Phantom. Flying Whisper and Echo together is a nice combo.

List of cards I want but don't want to buy the ships to get them
DarthSidious replied to Hrathen's topic in X-Wing
The very idea that you're paying $10 for 1 or 2 cards is simply nonsense. You're getting a number of cards and a model for that $10. Just because the card is the primary thing you want, doesn't change what else you get. You may not have a lot of use for a A-Wing, but that isn't the same thing as saying you'll never use it. So you can't simply discount it as part of the package. Exactly. And honestly, it's a choice. People have the choice of spending their money on the game, or not. No one is being 'forced', in any way, shape, or form, to buy ships. I guess folks have to decide whether they want it badly enough. -
The phantom needs to avoid the direct attack. It works best when using its agility to fly around the edges. Combined with the Advanced Cloaking Device and Veteran Instincts for Whisper and Echo, the Phantom is pretty formidable.

It's not really a different version, more a continuation. However, the writing and art is worlds better than 20 years ago. For the record, I've been playing Battletech since 1987.

I know there is an episode where tng mocks a ship armed with lasers but no way would that star destroyer fail to knock the ship out of the air, star destroyer is the general term for a ship able to dominate an entire system with its fire power. I think that SW wins in a fight. However SW stats are so nonsensical and silly (Obi-Wan's starfighter has an operational range of 150,000 light-years while Enterprise-D Operational range is 2750 light-years), that ST takes a huge moral victory. But this is what happens when you try to compare a Science Fantasy (SW) to an actual Science Fiction setting (ST). Well, to be fair, Star Wars has had hyperspace travel for 25,000 years or more, while ST has had warp for a couple of centuries.

This, a thousand times this. As a Battletech player, what Wizkids did was a killing blow to a franchise that needed soemthing amazing to keep it going. Battletech is still going strong.
-
It's unlikely that this would happen, given FFG's X-Wing business model. It's unlikely that making the minis is what takes up most of the time between releases.
-
That they were smart to not try and be too specific.

In case anyone cares, Cool Stuff, Inc. is showing September 2014 for an availability date. Whether that is accurate remains to be seen.
-
They have until the end of September, so it's best to withhold judgment until then.

Battle Foam's custom tray creator now has Wave 4 shapes.

My beef with the huge ships and the state of the game.
DarthSidious replied to BahnCalamari's topic in X-Wing
It's not a pay to win system. It's a pay to play (at some point) system. Buy what you want. Don't buy what you don't want. No one is being forced to buy anything. -
This is a wonderful example of the post hoc ergo propter hoc fallacy.
-
Hence the need for a third faction. Sorry. Well played, sir.
-
I don't think it's that simple. The issues with three-way scenarios have little to do with factions, and nearly everything to do with the inherent difficulties in the format.
-
Well, since you can't include rebels and imperials in the same build, that third rule doesn't really make sense.
