  1. I dunno, not committing your fighters in the early game means they can't be targeted by enemy fighters, but those same enemy fighters can be hit by your capital ships. You can keep your fighters protected until they are ready to be launched.

Additionally, fast ships can carry those starfighters further than they can fly on their own. B-Wings for instance. If there was a mechanism to carry fighters futher and then deploy them when you need them, B-Wings would be incredible for this role. At worst it would be like hyperspace assault with a fighter 3 ship and that many B-Wing squadrons on the tail of an Imperial Star Destroyer.

Or, they can be destroyed before they're ever launched.

  2. It would be great to launch fighters from a ship mid game.

While the Gozanti will undoubtedly make it in at some point, I fail to see why launching fighters from a ship mid game would be great.  This topic has come up several times, and I don't think anyone has really been able to supply a satisfactory answer.  The ROI just doesn't seem to be there.

  3.

Also can anyone recommend where to start with the animated series? Is it any good?

If you have Netflix, block out your weekend and watch all of the Clone Wars animated.  It was all great.  Even the movie was decent, but the series was better.  The first 3 season weren't totally linear either.  You might consider using this guide for viewing order in the first 3 seasons and the animated movie.

Rebels have also been good so far, but I have only seen first first season.

Star Wars Clone Wars - Season 1-5 [blu-ray] [Region Free] https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00APGRMX2/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_LB5swb93ZQKWP

    Is that all I need?

You'll want Season 6 as well.  It goes by the name of The Lost Missions.

  4.

Yeah the more we wait, the more the Sullust event looks like a joke: "we have everything finished, come and see it at the event" and then for an entire month there is radio silence on the actual release. I really hope this will be fixed for the next waves.

How is this any different than any previous release for Armada or X-Wing?  The Upcoming page states On the Boat usually takes four to six weeks.

That they had an event with everything already ready 1 month ago?

FFG has had stuff at GenCon a month or more before general releases.  Relax.

  5. Well there is the X-Wing version.

Pretty sure they are just completely black with the white on the panels.  However the most recent trailer seems to indicate there is some red on it?  Its possible not even FFG was given full paint scheme info and they had to improvise.  Then again, looking closely at the trailer, the red part appears to be coming out of the breached cockpit.

It's possible that the red is for special forces pilots.

  6. At this point, I've stopped unbagging the stands and keep them in a separate ziploc bag.  You never know when one's going to break, or when the need to experiment with basing (e.g., with magnets) will come on, and it's nice to know you've got some spares.  Ditto with excess cardboard.  Also handy if a buddy loses something, and needs a replacement.

  7. When building a kit it can be really nice to not have to fix someone else's assembly job. but yeah i should go the route of re-painting. I just hate to do it because I know there is value in that paint job I'm wasting by repainting it.

Both the transport and the raider look to have great paint jobs. it's just that corvette that looks like it's got leprosy.

    Alms for an ex-leper?

  8. Could anyone who already got their hands on the Rogues and Villains expansion tell me the scale of the 1-ship squadrons? How long is the YT-1300 for example?

They are probably not to scale, given that the individual fighters would probably be too small to manipulate if they were.

  9.

There is also some kind of new transport at the 1:19 mark that kind of looks like a miniature assault frigate. Probably unarmed, but cool looking anyway.

Isn't that the Imperial Assault Carrier that X-wing is getting?

    https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/products/x-wing/products/imperial-assault-carrier/

No that ship was flying with the Ghost, making it look like something carrying more Rebels. Kind of bullet-shaped, lower-left, with engines and wings. Almost like the assault frigate without the lower tanks.

Gozantis as we know them more or less debuted with Rebels. They only had fleeting glances in the prequel movies, and not even in this configuration!

They also show up in episodes of The Clone Wars.

  10.

New ships need extensive play testing and evaluations to make certain that these new ships and cards would not upset game balance.  People often complain that a certain ship is either over-powered or under-power (you see my point).  I believe these guys are being tuned before they are given the green light for full production.  Also, they may need Disney and Lucas Film approvals.

I hate to sound so cynical but if that were actually the case they REALLY SHOULD NOT HAVE previewed all the ships and told us all that they would be arriving before Christmas!

The perpetual over-promise and under-delivering of the product release dates tends to breed a lot of negative emotions from people.

I have been a strong proponent of FFG truncating their preview schedule for this very reason because we all get hyped up for a release around Christmas, but by the time it eventually arrives in February all the initial excitement is gone.

TBH if it does arrive before Christmas I think I will just about fall out of my chair, I will be happy but I'm certainly not counting on it happening

Given that it is still only October 7th, we still have time for them to get Wave 8 here before December 25th.  I am thinking Q1/16 myself, but the holidays would be fine, too.

  11. Local game store got the word from one of the Distributors to expect it around the 16th. Now this might be the earliest date for wave 2 and it seems like a good date for me most prerelease events happen a week or two before normal release. Also seeing as the next wave of Xwing is due out in November so odds are they don't want to overlap releases.

I'd be skeptical that X-Wing Wave be will be out in November.  Probably Q1 '16.
