  1. My ship bases are airbrushed black, while my squadron bases have washers hot glued to the bottom, both for weight and identification.
  2. Technically, you would need some fire from the CR90s to kill a VSD in one turn. Would you think it was broken if the firepower of seven CR90s was concentrated to one turn kill a VSD?
  3. The GSD and the Nebulon-B have identical components. Same for the VSD and Assault Frigate. Yes, I know, but I got a PM from a fellow german player telling me about the fin of the Mk II being somewhat curved. Does it fit anyway? Yes, I just tested it with one of my VSD gear boxes, and there's no problem. The medium-sized boxes are rather roomy . Also, the GSD has a fin rather than a peg, although it's a little more snug.
  4. Well, remember that the folks making Rebels aren't just making stuff up, they're getting it from the story group. No doubt LFL approved them showing up.
  5. I disagree, and I've been playing Battletech since 1986. I do remember that it was quite the change when the 3050 TRO came out. The more recent source books have done a great job in showing how the clans became the way they are, so if you haven't checked them out, you should. I loved the original House Books, but I think that, if anything, the most recent stuff is actually better. There definitely was a time, around 1990-2000, where things went downhill a bit.
  6. They retained the tech level by the clans' honor code. They never went full apocalyptic on each other until the (much later) Wars of Reaving. Even then, they didn't use WMDs. OTOH, the Inner Sphere never really had the Star League tech, and they did go full apocalyptic on each other. And they had ComStar killing all their scientists in the background, too.
  7. Check your .pdf program. Most of them default to printing at 96%, which is going to cause issues.
  8. That's why I asked SirWillibald to make the squadron carry boxes, because I ran across the same problem. The .pdf allows you to make 4-, 6-, 8-, or 10-squadron boxes.
  9. Says who? And why should we care. For me the new films have to prove as Star Wars first... the new Star Trek films failed to be Star Trek in my eyes for example. Says the people who actually control the Star Wars IP.
  10. Sure But I don't know if it's $100 worth of fun. I went a bit overboard with X-Wing stuff, 6 Z-95's 8 Tie Fighters, 6 X-Wings, ect... I don't really regret it, but at the same time I'm not going to do the same thing with Armada. In X-Wing I have so many lists I can put together that I doubt I'll ever play them all, even if I stopped buying new stuff. So if with Armada if I have 10 or so rebel and 10 or so imperial lists that will be plenty for me. I did, too. It has come in handy when supplying ships for 1-2 other people who forgot their stuff, though . I think that if I were to run it, I'd probably borrow what I don't have as much as possible, rather than just purchase it. I'm going to try an stay around 2 for each large, 2-3 for each medium, and around 3 for each small ship.
  11. To be honest, I consider Armada to be my cheap game. But that's mostly because I'm not buying a ton of stuff for it. I'm finding so far that that one each of wave 1 will give me plenty of options and I don't feel the need for a 2nd AF or even GSD. Wave 2 looks to be about the same, I might double up on the Raider but that's it. When Wave 2 comes out, 6-, 7-, and 8-CR90 swarm lists will be viable. I don't normally play Rebels, but having a 6-CR90/Mon Mothma/*big* fighter swarm would be interesting to run
  12. That's what our very own Deep Throat said, prior to his/her Wave 1 announcement I might add
  13. What I was getting at is assume I have a finite amount of cash (because I do. ). If I also need to buy stuff to get to 300 points then if I buy now, I'll have bought 300 points worth of very similar stuff. If I bought six months from now, I could have 300 points worth of more varied stuff. It all comes back to the finite money thing. Similar here. I'm the only one here who is playing this game right now, so it's not about building up my own army, but about building a complete game. I'll start off with that. But the book says 300 is the standard, so I feel I really need to get up to that for a proper game. I don't think anyone here has a (near) limitless amount of money. FFG is going to put out more ships (Wave 2 is coming out July-ish), so you're always going to be in the situation where new stuff is coming out. I guess I'd just suggest that you buy only what you can afford, and slowly build up your ships as you can. 300 points is the current "standard", but it will go up to 400 once Wave 2 comes out. That's really more for tournament purposes, so if you're just playing casually, just play with what you can afford to.
  14. Ditto. Even though I'm slowly getting other players into Armada, I'm still having to provide most of the ships. I also like having a variety of options.
  15. Why would you need to shelve it? Everything that's in the Core Set and Wave 1 will be playable later on.
  16. The fewer command dials a ship has, the more responsive it is. However, the flip side is that ships with higher command ratings (and thus more dials) can 'bank' more command tokens at one time.
  17. Clearly the knight needs a title to overcome its initial overcosting.
  18. LOL yeah. 110lb index is the same thickness as 3"x5" index cards (hence index). I think the 90lb paper is the same as that in manilla folders. How in the world do you just happen to know that? Are you a paper salesman? Work in a paper factory? Just a recreational paper-enthusiast? LOL no. I actually didn't know what the designations meant until SirWillibald asked about it a little while ago. I just googled "paper weight", and got a link to this page: http://paperworks.com/about-paper-weights [edit: ninja'd ]

  20. I'm using 110lb index, which can be gotten at Office Depot for about $15 for half a ream. If your printer can't handle 110lb, 90lb works also, as some others have pointed out.
  21. How would you explain that, since each damage point doesn't represent one fighter? While I dont really like the refreshing/reparing idea. Why should he explain that? He didnt even mention such thing. "replenishing squadrons in figher-range 1 for 1 engineering point per fighter?" (bolding for emphasis) Clearly, he did.
  22. Clearly it did. The Second Death Star was destroyed, and the Imperials were defeated. And yes, most Imperial fighters don't have hyperdrives. They are launched before the engagement, when the ships are out of range, rather than when the ships are right on top of each other. Much of the 'potential' is negated by the way the game works. You already know what ships and squadrons you are facing, so there's no real element of surprise.
