  1. Does it seem weird to anyone else that we just finished regional season and are having it again in only a few months?
  2. Dash Rendar also needs to be banned! #obstaclesmatter On a serious note, what's this guy smoking? This is an amazing knee jerk reaction to encountering something you don't like without wanting to change how you do business. I also enjoy starting my games with your list doesn't work for me, here (hands opponent a new list) play this, it works out better for me.
  3. Anything live streaming this weekend? I'm none sing to watch some x-wing but not really on a position to play or go out to watch it. Wondering if there were any tournaments or events that would be putting on a show so to speak.
  4. What are you talking about? Bro bots are still a really great list.
  5. Dude! That totally was me! Like I said everyone there was a class act. Playing in Quebec was intimidating but a lot of fun. Thanks again for the token.
  6. Leave Britney alo... a-wings alone! Dude they're fine as they are.
  7. Lessons learned really. I had no way to know there was an error as they only posted match ups not standings. So I go into the announcements being like okay I'm 5-1 I'm in for sure. They didn't use the normal score sheets just little slips with two names and a place for points. So there was no check here you won, modified lost to ensure things. The scores got written down wrong in my third game, and so I was playing lower ranked guys. Even though I had won 5 games it was against lower ranked players, so what do you do? The TOs had to make a hard decision that would make someone unhappy and it ended up being me. In fairness while I was super pissed about the result I entirely agree with their decision looking back a bit removed now. Even my third round opponent told the TOs of the error. But what was done was done. They weren't going to make things right by doing something wrong again. They did the right thing. All of this was compounded by my only having a basic understanding of French. I tried but a combo of being tired and people speaking quickly I never heard them say anything that would have fixed the situation. Further to the credit of how it was handled, the TOs decided to give me the bonus dice set. They didn't have to do it but they understood I was upset and had a case, they did what I've Always seen and loved about this community, they were dudes about it. As for what I was flying I was the super Anglo who was flying Dengar Manaroo ( I called it star crossed lovers rather than dengaroo and as soon as I did my wife let me go to the tournament. I told her it was a tribute to our love). All of my opponents were great and the day was a ton of fun with a lot of variety.
  8. It's painful to look at, went 5-1 but due to a scoring error got placed as 4-2. I could of been a contender lol. Where on Facebook did they say post to here? I thought they had all the lists?
  9. Cheering for Ryan Voight up here in Canada.
  10. I don't think he was cheating. He's an over excited fidgeting player for sure. But I don't think he's cheating. Almost any other move would have seen a phantom with a shot at least, and likely a five die shot before cloaking. So unless he was like 'man I really hope I can't shoot this turn' I think it was just a matter of nerves. The guy is a good dude and while he loves the game isn't exactly a power gamer and I honestly don't believe he would cheat like that. Even seeing that. @krynn, that link just takes me to a login screen...
  11. What's the sound of one troll trolling? Dude you have five posts and all about this one subject. There were a bunch of people watching the game and two players going at it. I don't think they need your validity. They went through the whole Swiss, they have credibility. We don't know what the conversation was between them but we can be certain it was after a lot of play and both were tired. Give it a rest dude
  12. I think you drop down the HLC to a mangler as he Krassis shoots last anyways and either give OL a stealth device or put a recon specialist on Krassis for more survivability.
  13. This is an amazingly detailed account. A great read. Glad you had a ton of fun.
  14. its card like this have prompted me to start Darkhorse's card disposal. Simply pm me and I'll send you an address where you can mail this and other useless cards like crackshot (who wants a card you dispose after the first use!) and I will make sure that card doesn't find its way back into your collection.
  15. Krynn buddy, other than that ruling how did your tourney go?
  16. In the SC final flew a brobot the wrong way onto a rock facing the table edge in the opening engagement. Apparently right and left are things. Different things.

    Swarm Synergies

The withering fire of a swarm it what should make it difficult, not making the wall of ships harder to hit. "Any ship firing on a ship which has been fired on 4 times this round adds one attack die to their attack." Or "defender rolls one less defence die" As the wall of fire comes in it becomes harder to dodge.
  18. You also decided on a list minutes before, don't beat yourself up you did fine.
  19. I've been list building and getting excited about playing more. I don't know when I'll get the chance next but I get the giggles every time I make a two ship build, ah the twins.... Thanks again for listening.
  20. So recently I had to take a break from X-Wing. Lots of people do and for all sorts of reasons. Burnout, work, stress, family, there are a million reasons out there. For me I had to move across the country, more than 3000 kms to a new posting for my job, find a place to live and with my wife and two dogs welcome the newest members of my family as my amazing wife had our first children, yup twins, boy and a girl. And before you ask Luke and Leia got shot down as names faster than Han's Kessel run. So back around regionals I had a bit of a last hurrah, playing in two, but to be honnest as much as I was having fun, I was kinda done for a while. The tournament scene is a ton of fun and I love it, but poorly run events and a few situations soured me a bit, and with everything going on I just stopped playing. I had so much on the go and this game that I've loved had become a burden. So I took a break. I was still watching the game out there, be it battle reports or youtube videos, then worlds which I gawked over online and enjoyed, but found myself wanting more, how had there not been more games filmed?! The kids did, and do take up all my time. They're a handful and in an instant my life had changed No longer could I just sprint out the door to play tiny space ships for hours on end without notice, or thought to who would care for my family. Add to that the fact that now I live in a perpetually half asleep world, where I'm either highly sleep deprived or half asleep listening for their cries every two hours through the night. All in all it doesn't add up to a lot of gaming. So fast forward a bit to tonight, we're driving home from some shopping and my again AMAZING wife asks 'hey are you gonna go play X-Wing tonight'? We had found a new gaming store locally that was hosting monday night X-Wing play. While I had been interested I had no time or really payed it much heed, but there is my wife looking at me asking why I'm not going. I say I can't that there is too much going on with the kids and that and she tells me its fine, go, go play X-Wing. Well i only can object to logic like that for so long. With excitement and trepidation I headed down to the new store. It was like a first date. I wasn't sure what I was doing there, if they'd like me or if I could get the job done, but hell 50% of life is showing up on time, so I had that going for me. In a military manner I was there early, scouting the premesis, learning the lay of the land, where the washrooms were and what the stock of product was like. First guy there, looking like a newb. It wasn't long before one of the regular players showed up and after seeing my stuff asked if I wanted to play, I was being asked out, to a game of X-Wing. I felt like the prom queen. He said he had a new rebel list to play, I said I had an old school list I was going to play, to which he laughed saying I hope its not old school like a tie swarm, they aren't competative. I smiled and began to pull ties out. He was running Heavers version of Poe and the top 4 Miranda with TLT and tactician, along with some bandits, very, much inspired by worlds the list looked like that meta and had some power behind it for sure. I was running Howlrunner, and four shinning new Academies along with the Baron, Soontir fel with AT and Ion Engines. The game was a turn and burn fight with my morale plummeting on the first engagement as Howl went down for nothing in return. But as I earned back my space legs things got better and we ended it with Poe on one hull facing the wrong way against 3 ties and Fel. Time away had been good, it let me take care of my life and set the right priorities, but man o man did it feel good to be back, it's like falling in love with the game all over again. I can't wait to play again. I know my swarm was really rusty, so next time maybe I can make it look a little more polished, or perhaps I'll play A-Wings, or a Defender, or.... Still haven't seen the new movie, but I'm really excitied about playing this amazing game again, and hopefully sometime soon. And who knows maybe I'll get to see the movie as well! When I got back home I kissed the wife, grabbed a baby and happily sat there my nerd battery recharged and wanting to share my good mood with my family. I think it worked. Thanks for listening to a ramble. Fly Casual.
  21. Old school obsidian swarm. Ignore stress bot and rip up Poe. The TLT next and then the rest. Ties have a place in the game and against lists like this they shine, though people have moved away from them they are still a ton of fun and can do the job.
  22. Looks like a really fun list to play. Ryan has ventured up to Canada a few times and is a blast to play, so I was really glad to see him so well represented. Great work at worlds dude.
