This is a topic that I've been getting a little frustrated with. People seem to want a Star Destroyer in X-Wing and, as many have consistently stated, something that big cannot reasonably be added to this game.

Too big: if scaled reasonably it would still be MASSIVE and would be a gaming board in it's own right. Even if it was made into a model the price would be such that few, if anyone, could actually afford it. FFG would lose money making models.

Too small: if made to be playable and not too expensive the Star Destroyer would be too small and fans would be outraged to the point where nobody would buy it. FFG would lose money making models.

What follows is a list of all the ships I could find which could be reasonably added to the game without upsetting any but the worst of whiners. It is my belief that anything listed as being 300 meters, twice the size of Tantive IV, or less wouldn't be too much to ask for:

I hope this list goes some way to reassuring the Empire players that just because the Rebels have a couple of HUGE ships doesn't mean they don't have any options for future releases. It is by no means every choice, just the ones I picked out. To find out more ships, here is a link to the page I used:

Please no Star Destroyer talk here. This is about ships of 300 meters or less. There's currently 15 pages worth of Star Destroyer talk going on.

Vigil Class Corvette, at 255 meters, is included in my list. It joins the Imperial Custom Corvette as my favourite Imperial ships for this game. Partly because they both look right for "small" Empire ships.

So, let's try and put a couple of these ships into the Epic point system... if the Corvette is 3 and the Transport is 2, where could some of these ships fall into the scale?

Carrack-Class Light Cruiser  (350m) - 5 Epic points? EF76-B Nebulon-class Escort Frigate  (300m) - 5 Epic points?   I really do think these would be pushing the limit of what is feasible in the current ruleset to breaking point.  I couldn't see them being fielded for less than 200 points a pop, more with upgrades.   Vigil-Class Corvette  (255m) - 4 Epic points? Lancer-Class Frigate  (250m) - 4 Epic points? Tartan-Class Patrol Cruiser  (250m) - 4 Epic points?   150 to 200 point range, they'd still allow you to field a fair number of smaller ships and fighters in support.   Marauder-class Corvette  (195m) - 3 Epic points? Imperial Customs Corvette  (180m) - 3 Epic points? IPV-1 System Patrol Craft  (120m) - 3 Epic points? SCT Long-Range Scout Craft  (75m) - 2 Epic points?   As close as we can get in scale to the Corvette, and probably would weigh in at the 75 to 150 point range.   Container Transport (200m) - 2 Epic points? Action IV Transport (125m) - 2 Epic points? BFF-1 Bulk Freighter (120m) - 2 Epic points? Mobquet Medium Transport (113m) - 2 Epic points?   As Imperial counterparts to the Rebel Transport, or even available to both factions, lightly-armed support ships could vary in points quite considerably depending on their role.  The unarmed BFF-1 could be similar to the Rebel Transport in the 2535 point range, while the Action IV could be anywhere up to 100.

MajorTomK got a reaction from Mace Windu in Does this Forum Need More Sub-forums?
I like things filed away neat and tidy.

I believe I've seen numerous requests for painting and customizing. This is something I don't do but love to look at so would like to see that made a sub-forum so I can find them easier.

But I can't see what other sub-forums are needed. I thought of squadron builds and tactics, but then I felt it was a shame not to have them in the main forum.

    That's what I think anyway.

    I hesitate to say this:

Perhaps it's not the choice of squadron. Perhaps you're very good and he's...not so good.
