  1. Absolute fantastic work!

How about a ship shaped like this 'light star destroyer'

    6.jpg

... as a '180m' class corvette - so slightly longer and wider then the cr90, but with similar armament (or slightly better)

That actually does look rather cool. Photoshop? Or is there some top secret class of ship that not even Wookieepedia has heard of...the Moon Destroyer. Can't Destroy a star but you won't stick your bum out at it...

  2.

    Please let this topic die.

Everything that needs to be said has been said...

    ...again...

    ...and again...

    ...and again...

    ...and again...

    ...and again...

How happy I was today when I came to the forum to find that this topic had finally slipped to the bottom of the list, then off the list altogether as new, fresh topics were being discussed.

  3.

So, let's try and put a couple of these ships into the Epic point system...

Thank you for that and I do agree with you Epic points listing.

  4. Tho now we will have purists that only follow "new" canon, and ignore the "Legend" canon.  But i can see a problem with a snowball effect.

For example, from the article we know the ISB exists.  Does COMPNOR exist also? what about Emporer's hand?

Or simpler, if we spot a Twi'lek does that mean it only comes in the colors we see? Does Ryloth exist? what about Ryll? Glitteryll? and what about the Secret Lekku language?

I almost see a bunch of guys running around with stamps (like George did) and trying to find all the stuff they like and marking it into a story.  and not bothering to come up with anything new.

My reason for movie/series only is to keep life simple. However, I'm not against making up new things:

I also have another personal creation: USLAG

United Seperatist League of Allied Governments

    Thank you Ray Winston

So don't worry, not all of us are against new and different things.

  5. :D Good news to me!

I didn't even know about EU until I explored the X-Wing forum.

"Lucas always made it clear that he was not beholden to the EU. He set the films he created as the canon. This includes the six Star Wars episodes, and the many hours of content he developed and produced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. These stories are the immovable objects of Star Wars history, the characters and events to which all other tales must align."

For me, and it seems Lucas himself, "canon" is what I have seen in the six movies and what I will see in the sequel trilogy. Though I've not seen it yet, The Clone Wars is on my "to buy" list and I feel the same about "Rebels".

  6. Please no Star Destroyer talk here. This is about ships of 300 meters or less. There's currently 15 pages worth of Star Destroyer talk going on.

Vigil Class Corvette, at 255 meters, is included in my list. It joins the Imperial Custom Corvette as my favourite Imperial ships for this game. Partly because they both look right for "small" Empire ships.

  7. Hey FFG let me  design the ones that dont have official images *L* Please.....

You do cool work. You may be seeing some of my £'s in the not too distant future. Perhaps a commission or two.

Ironically the OP is from a country where freedom of speech is part of the constitution.

Freedom of speech only means freedom from government suppression of speech. So, the government can't tell someone to STFU, but literally everyone else can and should, when appropriate.

Just cause every thread could use more xkcd:

Linked instead because I wasn't sure the rules on posting a pic with the word bulls**t.

 It's funny because it's true

Here was me making a humorous observation and you come back with a sensible reply...

...and there are times when people should just shut up. How many times I've heard "I have a right to speak" from someone making an ass out of themselves.

I'm going to shut up now.

  10. I feel that the Acclamator, what I originally was looking for, is still the best choice. Easily recognizable. 752 meters long. With firepower, at least according to Wookieepedia, amounting to:

    Acclamator I

    12 Quad Turbolaser Cannons

    24 Point Defense Laser Cannons

    4 Proton Torpedo Tubes

    Acclamator II

    12 Quad Turbolaser Cannons

    24 Point Defense Laser Cannons

    4 Turbolaser Batteries

    2 Heavy Proton Torpedo Launchers

But I wouldn't complain about a Victory Star Destroyer.

    I'd only get one though.

  11.

Why can't we come to a happy compromise?

and I might just cry with joy...

    Victory I-Class Star Destroyer

    http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Victory_I-class_Star_Destroyer

Bring on the Victory 1 I say! I wasn't even looking for it but there it is...a small Star Destroyer!

Note I have always said Star Destroyer, not ISD. Many people feel the Victory class is still too big.

What I'd almost like, and this requires a lot of suspension of disbelief, is two cards for the same size ship. One represents an ISD and costs too much for other ships, and one that costs much less and represents the Victory class. I know this will knock Scale Junkies for a loop... But it would be an effective way to handle the situation.

I'd settle for an Acclamator, which is a little smaller still. It was that I was looking for (couldn't remember it's name) when this appeared and I thought "YES" it IS a Star Destroyer without being THE Star Destroyer we all know from the movies.

900 meters makes it 6 times the size of a CR-90, which can be scaled down a little without too much complaining. This I don't mind.

EDIT: for those interested in the size difference 180px-Victory_size.jpg

  12. I like things filed away neat and tidy.

I believe I've seen numerous requests for painting and customizing. This is something I don't do but love to look at so would like to see that made a sub-forum so I can find them easier.

But I can't see what other sub-forums are needed. I thought of squadron builds and tactics, but then I felt it was a shame not to have them in the main forum.

    That's what I think anyway.

  13.

But they released X-Wings and Tie Fighters long before the EU ships. Why?

Because they're the most recognizable, there's no question there. Iconic OT ships are easier to market then EU ones.

Now you know some, if not all, of the logic behind the "make Star Destroyer" side of the argument. That was my only point.

Good thing I took a time-out yesterday as it gets hard to be objective in these kinds of discussions. Hopefully I've managed to mediate a little between the yes and no camps.

My point of view remains the same. Love Star Destroyers, don't want them in games. Never heard of Vigils until about a week or two ago, will buy two if they get released. As my Catachan23 friend has pointed out my reason for this is simple...

    ...I love Star Wars

    EU included

  14.

Because people like me whose knowledge of Star Wars is limited to sitting on my bum watching movies and playing Battlefront don't know what it is.

I'd guess you didn't know what a HWK-290 is either, or any ship from Wave 4. Just because people don't know what it is, isn't really a valid reason to not include it.

    You're right there.

Since learning of some of the other ships I now find myself wanting them. Some not even released like CloakShape fighters, StarVipers, YT-2400 and yes a Vigil and Customs Corvette. Love the Z-95's and intend getting a HWK.

But they released X-Wings and Tie Fighters long before the EU ships. Why?

  15.

Basically you lack any sort of logical argument on why the Vigil isn't good enough, other then you just don't think it is.

Because people like me whose knowledge of Star Wars is limited to sitting on my bum watching movies and playing Battlefront don't know what it is. I've since learnt, by knowledge comes from wookieepedia.

When talking about ICONIC ships, you've got:

    Star Destroyer

    Super Star Destroyer

Death Star doesn't count as a ship but that is it.

Speaking of iconic, why not a Super Star Destroyer?

    hehe

Dare I say too big, unbalanced etc etc etc
