All these complainers have it easy. If I want Lego Velma and Daphne minifigs to go with my Lego Mystery Machine, I either have to spend $27 on BrickLink or buy the one set they come in for $88. It's highway robbery I tell 'ya!

If you follow the actual definition of "entire" it is clear cut. -

What is it with these forums and people twisting rules to be what they want them to be instead of what they actually are? -

RAW I don't see a reason why not. Game balance wise I hope they just tell us explicitly that we can't. Based on RAW, you CAN'T. If anything, the Raider needs an entry even though we all know how it will work anyway. -

"TIE Adv." does not equal "TIE Advanced" and the new rules are pretty explicit. If we're going down the slippery slope of, "Obviously 'Adv.' means 'Advanced", who's to say it doesn't stand for "Adventure", "Advice" or "Advertisement"? -
Why does Predator cost 3 points while Flight Instructor costs 4?
trustybroom replied to Covered in Weasels's topic in X-Wing
It's pretty nice on a Firespray, especially when you expect a lot of shots coming your way (Hello TLT meta!). It can easily more than make up its points. -
I'm just going to wait until I can get them from somewhere for less than MSRP. I'm okay with someone else having little plastic toys before me.

The Transport is pretty amazing for its cost. It also has a lot of ways that you can effectively build it. I still think it's a much better deal than the CR-90.

X-Wing is a great game, but I haven't played in months. Mostly because everyone only ever wants to play 100pt deathmatches and I'm bored to tears of 100pt deathmatches. Lately I've been playing a lot of Sails of Glory for my miniature fix.

K-Wing & TIE Punisher: Flying Off The Shelves!
trustybroom replied to Joe Boss Red Seven's topic in X-Wing
If I flew rebels more I would fly the K-Wing...but I've been flying the Punisher like crazy since Gencon. It's sooooo much fun! -
With as common as turrets are, if Lorrir is in spots that he can't be shot, he can't shoot either. If he does his trick he doesn't get to modify his attack or his defense. His PS is too low to really use his ability to its full potential. Autothrusters are nice but they aren't that great unless you have tokens to support them. Since Lorrir changes direction on his roll, he most often does have a shot. It's that change of angle that makes a difference. Yep when he uses his trick, he's rolling naked dice which is why if I'm using it to evade an attack I make sure I won't end up in arc. And a 3-die no modifier attack is better than no attack. The thing is, you may not know where an enemy ship will end up, but you do know where it can't end up. Then you just plop yourself into position and you're good to go. You can just pull a lot of tricks with Lorrir that no other ship can do and he's cheap to boot.
-
I'm curious how you think it makes it useless. Lorrir has the same limitations after his special barrel-roll as an interceptor with PTL, except it doesn't affect him every round (as he won't use it every round) and he can get to places that a PTL Interceptor can't.
-
Next round, because you were already assigned a dial on the current round.
-
Lorrir getting stress isn't a big deal with the Interceptors dial. And Lorrir doesn't really need an EPT. He's honestly really good at 25 points. (w/ autothrusters). Where other interceptors need to turtle, Lorrir can easily get to places where he can't get shot at all. Especially when you put him in a list with other threats, he more than pulls his weight. I have a feeling that most people who complain about Lorrir never seriously used him. For those that have, who has used him more than 5 times? More than 10? Lorrir is a lot more than what he looks like on paper.
-
I'm just not sold on Deathrain. The Cutlass Squadron Pilot can do basically the same thing and it's 5 points cheaper. The Cutlass just flies by the higher PS pilots and drops a bomb from it's rear right on top of the pilot. Sure he can't barrel-roll afterwards, but is that worth 5 points?

We need you to run Quad TLT's and other anti-Fat Turretwing lists
trustybroom replied to ParaGoomba Slayer's topic in X-Wing
I've been running this since GenCon with good results: "Redline" (27) Fire-Control System (2) Extra Munitions (2) Plasma Torpedoes (3) Cluster Missiles (4) Darth Vader (29) Predator (3) Advanced Targeting Computer (1) Engine Upgrade (4) TIE/x1 (0) Lieutenant Lorrir (23) Autothrusters (2) Total: 100 I've never fired off all his ordnance since I've usually won or he's dead before that point. Most times people go after Vader and then get wrecked by Redline. Clusters with TL + F on the first shot and TL on the second really hurt. If they go after Redline, they have Lorrir and Vader picking at them. If they go after Redline first, you need to be very aggressive with the other two, as Redline won't last long against concentrated fire. Also, Lorrir is a LOT better than what people give him credit for. -
Commercials during prime time (especially during a popular show) are really, really, really, really expensive.

Honestly I bet in 10 years we'll see a lot more women playing miniature games. Think about it, 20-30 years ago the amount of people playing miniature games was much smaller than it is today. It was also MUCH less acceptable for females to play such games. I have a strong feeling that those who played miniature games back then weren't teaching their daughters how to play and if they were, it would still be unacceptable among the daughter's peers which would steer her away. Nowadays the people of my generation have kids and are all about getting them involved in their geeky hobbies, which are also more mainstream than they were. I play these games with my son and if I had a daughter I'd do the same. Once their generation grows up, I'm sure a lot more of them will be playing miniature games.

Analyzing the cost and value of each Elite Pilot Talent, Part 1/3
trustybroom replied to Kdubb's topic in X-Wing
I don't think people have grasped the power of this card yet. It's a FREE HIT OR CRIT. It's an anti-Hull or anti-Shield FOR ONE POINT. And you want it to be used TWICE for 1/3 or 1/4 of the cost of those cards? HELL NO. It's also really good for landing things like Assault Missiles. When you have the perfect shot lined up, it's great to have an almost guarantee that it will land. -

I tend to feel the opposite way, that if TLT becomes A Thing we'll see more Aggressors because a) Iggy's strong against TLT and b) stuff that Iggy's got to be wary of (arc-dodging fatties, Soontir) are the TLT's natural prey. Iggy is strong against 1 TLT. He'll have a lot more problems against 4.
