It's quite possible that the Raider will be revealed as the Inquisitors command ship in Rebels. It would also fit thematically if he is a named pilot (or Inquisitors as super-elite generics) due to the Advanced being included.
The release of ships tied into Rebels could lead to the Ghost and Phantom, with rules for small ships docking with their larger motherships. Which, in turn, could lead to the Hounds Tooth for S&V, with Bossk's Z95 having similar docking rules.
This may even pave the way for a Gozanti with carrier capacity.
I hope things pan out as above. I think it would be too early to have the Raider as a teaser ship from Ep VII.

It's canon - it was piloted by Obi-Wan, disguised as a Bounty Hunter, in an episode of The Clone Wars.

I understand what the OP means. But I think we're in a little lull, just to allow Armada some time to breath and before Wave 8 is announced as Ep VII X Wings, Black Ties (strictly no jeans or trainers) and Square-rectenna Falcon.
I think the K-Wing and Punisher, as models, are hideous-looking things which would never have got a 'fabuloso' stamp, but I like the Hounds Tooth and the Kihrax (I know, mis-spelt) has its place in the Scum fleet. The cards and upgrades are exciting enough to prompt me to buy at least one of each, more so if the new TIE upgrade is usable on my swarm.
A deeper plunge into EU obscurity may provoke a similar response from me in that I simply cannot relate to the ship as I have no movie point of reference to refer to, but hopefully FFG are simply easing off the pedal prior to a flurry of Ep VII releases.
In the meantime, we've got the Raider, upgraded TIE X1, and the upgrades in Wave 7 to play with and keep us all flying casual.

I for one am really happy that FFG have taken their foot off the gas a little.
I was beginning to find the relentless schedule of new releases to be somewhat onerous.
 
But then I'm a grumpy curmudgeonly old codger - so if I wasn't complaining about the release schedule I'd be shouting at you kids to get off my lawn, wear a belt for time to time, and show a little respect for your elders

While the Phantom itself is beatable under the old rules, it pretty much forced you into thinking about how you're going to deal with a Phantom during the list building phase, and as such limited the amount of variability you saw in top lists.  Pretty much every competitive list had at least one of the following:
 
PS10+ ship (typically with movement actions)
Turret
Phantom
 
As such, it truly limited both the EPTs and the Pilots that saw play (at a competitive level).  This ruling obviously greatly affects how a Phantom plays, but it allows for someone like PS7 Xizor to actually get a shot in on PS9 Whisper.  So, this is more of a "we want to see more variability in lists" than anything else imo.

The game tiles may have restriction on movement, eg warpspace lanes, etc, which would make more sense in using tiles rather than a static system map. Laying out the tiles in different combinations creates differing pathways along which forces can travel - a bit like the mountains and rivers limiting movement in Mighty Empires.
I would imagine expansions would add new units and factions, though not necessarily more players (eg up to 4 people still play, but one might play Tau rather than Orks).

I think there was - produced by Forgeworld, so it cost upwards of £200. Can't remember if it was a different type of Titan though (it might even have just been a highly detailed Revenant)

Well i own at least one of each large to huge ship and at least two or three of each small ship (eight of some!) so i reckon i've invested enough to be proxying guilt free

Proxying cards is fine with me.  A lot of the time we run games off print outs from xwing builder to save the hassle of having a pile of cards in front of you and just having a 'record sheet'.
 
Proxying cards to me is not a problem, in the same way i dont mind if someone uses a scratchbuild or a conversion for a game of 40k, or even mind if someones 'imperial guard' are converted 28mm romans or whatever.
 
Playing a game thats fun is important, not how you keep track of hit points and ordnance or remember rules.

I got home from work to find Most Wanted and IG 2000 waiting for me!
Starviper and 2 M3s should be mine by Monday.
The Mission in the IG 2000 looks cool, with the S&V player issuing special orders like "Stay Frosty" - which immediately made me think of Hicks in Aliens.
I haven't opened Most Wanted yet as I'm introducing a new player to X Wing and don't want to bamboozle him with 3 Factions.
