Our House Rule for the Mechanic skill:
You can specialize in a specific category of mechanics: droids, weapon modifications, armor modifications, planetary vehicles, starship vehicles.
Mechanical rolls are normal for all skill checks, unless it falls under your specific specialization. Anything being worked on that your specialized in requires one less difficulty die.
Our ship's mechanic is good with our starship, but she's exceptional when working on vehicles, especially swoops and podracers.

I love that droid competition - but imagine entering a Player's Droid character...

...I can imagine one of our player's getting very cocky as he wins battle after battle.

Then his final match is against a battle droid the size of a dump truck....
    ....and is considered a 'vehicle'.

This is the system where I'm going to go and remake/reboot a bunch of games friends and I made back in our high school days (late 80s, early 90s)
Masamune Shirow's "Appleseed" (where we members of the police force of Olympus)
Bubblegum Crisis (members of the American version of the ADPolice - the Heavy Response Police)
    Aliens (Colonial Space Marines)
    obviously Superheroes...
That's right, FFG... just keep taking my money...

(Ooh, just remembered a short-lived TMNT vs. Terminator game we played)

I've been kicking around the idea of adapting the old Star Frontiers TSR game to this system for a while now. I'm definitely doing it now!

I kind of hope that FFG do Genre Books that adapt the system beyond the genres in the base book. A book on superheroes would be on the top of my list, as well as maybe a mecha book, or a pulp book. Which genres do you hope may come out after the core book?

So when I ordered my new Adversary cards, I put "Draw a smile face on the package! (Or a unicorn. That would be nice too)" in the special instructions box. Today, my package arrived - complete with a unicorn AND a smile face:

My GM is a bad joke telling, uber nerd. When he's not GM'ing, he's a surgeon. And when he's not rooting around in people's insides, rolling dice, being a nerd or telling bad jokes, he's my dad. I can say, without a doubt, he runs the best Star Wars game I've ever played but I have to confess that it's also the only one I've ever played.

Greetings, I just started playing this game recently. Given the constant flux of wounds and strain going up and down, I made a circular counter to keep track of a player's current state. Currently available in two flavors:

I thought I'd share them in case someone else found them useful. I don't know the maximum wound threshold a character can go to, so the numbers cap at 24.

Improvements have been made, larger version 2 along with vehicle tracker can be found here:

I had more fun coming up with costumes and concepts as I did playing the game (which was crazy fun, too). The chartacter creator was second to none - from Super Sentai characters to Batmen to just all sorts of crazy stuff, I would spend hours fiddling about with a concept before actually setting out to play.

I loved Scarlet Arrow, my defender archery character. She made it all the way to 50 and never got a travel power! I was proud of that fact! Her back story was that she was an Olympic contender, poised for greatness - when someone outted her on her one superpower, the ability to hover. Otherwise she was completely natural and 100% non-meta, but that was enough to bounce her from the team. She was just a bit bitter after that.

One of my other favorites was Chill Out Woman, an ice tanker who had amnesia. She got her name from wandering (naked) the streets of paragon city asking strangers if she knew who she was. Eventually someone said "Chill out, woman" and thus the name stuck (good thing he didnt say "Drop dead, crazy bitch")

And then there was Great Beyond, my first best love of the game - a Fire/Ice blaster, my first level 50. She didnt have a weird backstory or anything, but I charted her journey to 50 with a comic book series (well, the covers, at least).

This'll be kind of long, so I'll spoiler it for you guys as to not kill the thread:

And yeah, I was doing my best to channel Stan Lee and Jack Kirby there with my sensationalist covers.

I rather enjoyed the space battles in Battlefront 2 personally. It's been a long time since I played it but I recall flying ships right into the hangar of Star  Destroyers and then taking out systems from inside. It was a blast.

TXRyanLee reacted to PrettyHaley in Immorality in the Party
I don't know if its wrong. Wrong's pretty harsh for a role playing game unless you're rolling the wrong dice or something like that.
I don't think I'd play an immoral character because I don't think I could do it well but mostly because I want to like my character as a person. I have a hard time enjoying books or movies if there isn't someone for me to root for. I can root for bad people so long as there is a compelling reason for them being bad and I have the feeling that, as soon as they resolve whatever has them on the wrong side of neutral, they'll put away their naughtiness and go back to being good... Mostly.
If there's no logic behind a character's immorality, then it just seems like a lazy choice. The character doesn't consider what they SHOULD do to reach their goals. They just worry about the shortest path and what they CAN do. Maybe that gives you some cool moments in the story but its just not satisfying. To me, anyway.
It is hard or maybe impossible to play a moral character in the midst of immoral murderhobos unless you try to change them... speaking from experience. However, it is a lot easier to successfully be the moral character that tries to be a compass for a group of naughty-minded idiots than the other way around.

Back in the WEG days, they had a Star Wars Gamemaster Screen (Revised) book.

Inside, they had this cool sheet document for a License for Ownership of a Starship.

I couldn't find one online and the one I had was used and written on, so I recreated it.

It's just a basic outline of the old sheet. I don't have those fancy skills some of you have.

It makes a nice prop for your player characters to hand over to the Imperial Officer after being stopped.

I've had some thoughts on the Date Convention, mainly Using the year that Palpatine established the Empire as Year 1 but keeping the standard months and day. I was thinking of using After Declaration(AD) or Year of the Empire/Emperor(YE) similar to Anno Domini or Before Christ or Common Era or Before Common Era. Any other thoughts or suggestions?

These are pretty cool and I'll probably print some off for myself.  One question though, can anyone tell what the convention is for dates?  Just from comparing the dates on Boba's License it seems to go Year:Month:Day.  And then how do should one define the year?  BBY and ABY are good for relating OOC but is there an Imperial Standard that is used?

This makes it easier to understand what kind of problems could come up from having a forged BosS
