RTTGamePub got a reaction from Ishi Tonu in Snohomish County, WA -- Northern Stronghold Battles tournament series
The Game Shops in and around the North End (Hint: Above Seattle) are banding together to create a fun, challenging tournament series for our Legend of the Five Rings' players this Summer!

At its heart, L5R is a game of competitive play.

Players in the area need a way for this kind of play to exist, and so we are rewarding participants not only for putting together exceptional decks but also for showing up to different stores' events! It's no fun playing Scorpion if the silly honor obsessed Crane aren't present...
We are kicking it off at Around the Table Gamer Pub with a $10 Stronghold Battle at 1pm the Saturday of May 26th. While prizes will probably include ice-cream of some sort, we will also feature promos from the official Stronghold kit which contain some of the finest items FFG has ever put out.
Exact details for events will very shop to shop, but we can probably agree that they should be fun and we all encourage L5R players to show up when they can.  To that end, each tournament participant will get a Clan Point for each event they attend.  Clan Points are tracked and can be spent at each of the host stores for various promos, unique cards or other prizes.  Groovy.
So get your bushi butt out there and let's create a great L5R scene in the North End!
Current list of events and more details overall can be found on the official Event Series page, but just to get you started....:
Saturday May 26th -- Around the Table in Lynnwood - Stronghold Tournament #1 (Phoenix Controlled) - $10 - Stronghold kit promos plus Ice Cream Saturday June 9th -- Dreamstrands Comics in North Seattle - Phoenix Clan Pack Release Tournament - $5 - 'Disciples of the Void' Release promos and playmats Saturday June 16th -- Geek Fortress in Snohomish - Battle for the Stronghold - $5 - Battle for the Stronghold kit promos plus Credit Saturday June 30th -- Zulu's Boardgame Cafe in Bothell - Battle for the Stronghold - $5 - Battle for the Stronghold kit plus Full Art Promo

RTTGamePub got a reaction from Jut in Lynnwood, WA -- 'Case of the Missing Calrissian' League
"What a piece of work, this one. Barges into our office, tells us he needs to find a VIP, ASAP. What do we look like, a a bunch of twi’lek servants? Yeah, yeah, it’s true that missing persons cases are kind of me and Detective Tozr’s bread and bepps.

    But old General Lando Calrissian?
If that human wants to be hidden, he is probably going to stay hidden.

Ah well, we will do what we can do.
My salary doesn’t seem to care either way.”

    - Detective Gwad Raatu, Coruscant Security Force

    The game is afoot!

Welcome to the Case of the Missing Calrissian, a Star Wars Destiny League at Around the Table with a little bit of mystery thrown in for kicks. So sit back, embark on a little dice rolling adventure, and collect clues to help locate the missing Lando Calrissian!

    How do you participate?
Elementary, my dear player. Every Tuesday night while the League is in session, play some matches with other opponents. Great play is important, as league points are earned from your wins, losses as well as attendance. The league points in turn will net you promos at the end of the 6 weeks of games.

    But don't neglect the mystery!

Over time players will collect clues, in the form of puzzle pieces, that will reveal a scene from a Star Wars film. On the last League night, all detectives in attendance will try and put the puzzle together--so to speak--and then submit their best guess as to the exact frame, second, minute and hour into a specific film the scene is from. The sleuth who can best guess where Lando is located will win an extra special prize.

Around the Table's new Summer League is up!

Drop by on Thursdays between 6 and 10pm for a load of X-Wing action, this time with fun rules for flying 'Canon' squadrons.

Not not canon like "this canon will send an Ewok squealing through the air at approximately 20 kubas per second", but more like "IG-88B never took over the Death Star II in the redacted Canon!?  WHAT!?"

For more information, including a complete list of the included 'Canon' squadron rules we came up with, check out our FFG forum post here - https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/224952-lynnwood-wa-x-wing-summer-league-canon-theme/

RTTGamePub got a reaction from Koing907 in Lynnwood, WA - X-Wing "Team Epic" Tournament at Around the Table, Dec. 3rd & 10th
Tis the Season....to blow $h!# up!

To celebrate we are holding a 'for reals' two-week, two-round Team Epics Tournament from 7:15pm to 9:45pm the Thursdays of December 3rd and December 10th.

Entry will be $5 per player, teams will be 400 points and must include at least 1 epic ship. Teams will consist of 2 to 3 players.
We recommend 3 players so that you will have a back-up in case someone can not make it to the following week.  If a team has only one member show up, they must take a substitute from other players in or out of the tournament, or else they will be disqualified.

The players on each team are fixed unless there is an emergency like the one above--the squad list is NOT fixed from week to week.  Go wild! Try new things!

The prize pool for the tournament includes but is not limited to actual film reel from 'The Empire Strikes Back', special prints made from said film, Star Wars themed decals and stickers and more!

    Happy Holidays.

    ----- Changes or Clarifications ----
We are doing 150 minute rounds, one round per Thursday for 2 weeks.
One epic ship minimum per team.
Teams 2 - 3 players, ringers accepted; teams are NOT required to evenly distribute points.
Squadron list changeable from one round to the next.
We would do 3 rounds but...the 17th already got booked.

Around the Table is all-ages and located conveniently between Lynnwood and Edmonds, just a 10 minute drive north of Seattle on I-5.

This is a call to action, I repeat, a call to action!

Have Imperial Assault? You need to try the ridiculously fun skirmish game mode if you haven't already.

To facilitate this we are hosting an Imperial Assault Skirmish Tournament the Sunday of October 11th at 1pm. Entry is $5 and we will be handing out prizes from the tournament kit and more if we have enough entrants. The tournament will begin with a thorough explanation of how Skirmish works because, let's face it, a lot of you have been babying yourselves with the Campaign mode!

Once everyone knows what they are doing, we will begin squad creation and then get to it!
Looking at 3 rounds Swiss, each round a different map pulled from the base set, and then players will roll to randomly play scenario A or B from the allotted map. Rounds will last 55 minutes, with an extra 10 minutes for set up and 10 minutes between matches.

RTTGamePub got a reaction from Jo Jo in Lynnwood, WA -- March 1st Store Championship at Around the Table
Yeah, so we got a cease and desist from Round Table Pizza.

Now we are legally known as Around the Table.

    ANYWHOO

Around the Table is hosting its 2nd Annual X-Wing Store Championship at 1pm on the 1st of March, which just so happens to be the first (Sun)day of the month.  Mark your calenders so you don't forget!
This tournament will have a $10 entry fee, and that includes a free non-alcoholic beverage.  Yes, we love our beer here, but we also want our players to stay hydrated.  The whole competition will follow standard X-wing Tournament rules with a Swiss structure, probably coming out to 4 or 5 rounds depending on turnout.

The whole Puget Sound area seems to have gotten its act together and is coordinating so that none of these championships have scheduling conflicts, so we are expecting a good crowd.  What does this mean to you, citizen?

It means that we will likely have more prizes than just that lil' ol' 2015 Championship kit, with its glittery dice bags, promo cards, wicked cool focus tokens and the regional tournament Bye.  Once we have more than 8 entrants, all sorts of other stuff will be thrown in to the prize pool including a bunch of items we may have snagged from ThinkGeek.

So!  Hopefully we'll see you soon.

I hope this does but come off as a slight against Jeff, but I was surprised to see Whisper do so well in a field with so many Decimators, plus a Falcon. However, that build is horrifying, and the fact that he lost ONE SHIP in four games is a testament to how well he flew it.
I feel like I need to fly a Han next week, because that pilot card is just so, so pretty.
    Thank you, Nick & Tim!

Here we go again. The holiday season.

Long talks with the family, long lines of traffic and long waits at the check-out stand.

It's enough to make a person explode!

Now, now, let's get that fury out in a more positive way. Instead of building up pressure in that cranium of yours, let the darkness out in an X-wing tournament. Let the light of your Z-95's assault missiles wash away the Dark side! That is, unless you are the target....then harness it to your advantage and crush the rebel scum!

This will be a two-session, two week and 4-round X-wing Tournament, with the first day of the tournament being on the 4th of December(Thursday) and the second day being a week later on the 11th of December(also a Thursday). We will start at 7:30pm sharp and charge $10 as an entry fee, but this will include a free drink. First place will receive first choice to a pool of prizes--the entire ship line-up of the Scum & Villainy set. We are talking 'Most Wanted', the IG-2000, M3-A, etc.. If they aren't out, we'll have vouchers for them.  And since all fees must go towards prize support, the more entrants we have, the larger the pool will be! And everyone will get promo cards, of course.

Rounds will be 75 minutes long with a 15 minute break in between the end of one and the start of the other. It will be a Swiss-style tournament and Standard dogfight rules apply, that is to say, 100-point squadrons with all released ships being legal and squadron lists being fixed for the entirety of the tournament.

It's going to be a blast, tell your friends, and let's get all of that holiday frustration out on the battlefield!

    Cheers!

This sounds like a whole lot of fun!  I'm looking forward to hearing about how it goes next weekend.  Good luck to all those daring pilots who enter!

I was trying to find ways to bring some variety between leagues at my small shop and I think I'll have to throw in a race of my own next time.  Thanks for the inspiration!
