The other reply is also useful but I just want to add that there are a couple hard counters already in the game to Kylo's ability.  Determination makes a ship completely immune to the ability and Integrated astromech lets you get rid of the worst of it. There are probably more.

I doubt RAC/Fel wins unless it doesn't face a TLT list by some miracle.

Smuggler is correct.  It's a lot of fun to do.  Slightly more ridiculous if Leebo has determination.

Compete to play is always, always a bad way to go. No matter how many include. 

I haven't tried Flight instructor but Sensor Jammer is really good against it from what I've seen.

Spoiler alert:  I wasn't a fancy-pants awesome guy that made it to the final cut, much less first place.  That said, some folks dug my Regionals report as I bumbled my way from match to match (occasionally winning!), so here's more of the same. 

Paul Heaver went 0-3 and dropped.  He did proceed to win the Imperial Assault tournament on Saturday.  Doug Kinney wasn't there.

Nera is only 26 points. I think I would rather pay 2 points for a FCS rather than the 4 for rec spec. 34 points for some serious damage on one target, guaranteed. 36 points if you want to be crazy and use APTs.

MajorJuggler's post was excellent for this, and covers most of the ones I've been to.  Just want to also add that there is a google group email list boston-x-wing@googlegroups.com that you may find useful.  It's mostly the Cambridge crowd on the list, and activity goes up and down... sometimes people just show up without talking about it.

As per latest FAQ:

Cool! I will have to look you guys up sometime. One of these days I'll get out to Plaineville to play. I live about an hour South of Boston and am all-but-dissertation, so can't really sacrifice an entire weekend to play.

I can confirm that that was the list, (It was FCS) since I was the one that took him down in the next round.  (I was the winner.)  He had a repainted shuttle.
 
In case the lists aren't posted yet, my winning list (in Cambridge) was Whisper + VI + Navigator + ACD, Howlrunner + swarm tactics + hull upgrade, 3x Academy pilot.
 
2nd place was Echo + VI + Tactician + ACD, Omicron + Vader, 3x Academy pilot.
