  1. THANK YOU FFG! FFG LORE, PROFILE & ARTWORK Fantasy Flight Games have already included the profile and created rules and artwork for the XG-1 Assault Gunboat in one of their games - Edge of the Empire, specifically in the "Fly Casual " source book which came out in early 2015. More recently, the ship has been added to Star Wars: The Card Game in the Scrap Metal Force Pack which was released in December 2016. Alpha-Class XG-1 "Star Wing" Assault Gunboat (game rules omitted) "Designed by Cygnus Spaceworks, the Alpha-class Xg-1 Assault Gunboat is a multipurpose starfighter, excelling at space and planetary attack, interdiction and long-range reconnaissance and patrol. Unlike the more common TIE series, the Alpha-class is equipped with heavy armour, deflector shields and hyperdrives, though these come at the cost of speed and maneuverabilit, making it a less than stellar dogfighter. Heavily armed, the Star Wing is more than a match for most threats, disabling them with it's ion cannons to allow for boarding actions or blasting them out of space with it's lasers and concussion missiles. While used primarily by the Imperial Navy, Star Wings have begun to be employed by Imperial Customs and some planetary defense forces." Hull Typer/Class: Assault Starfighter/Alpha-class. Manufacturer: Cygnus Spaceworks Hyperdrive: Primary: Class 3. Backup: None. Navicomputer: Yes Sensor Range: Short Ship's Complement: One pilot Encumberance Capacity: 8 Passenger Capacity: 0 Consumbales: Three days, Price/Rarity: 135,000 credits R/7. Customization Hard Points: 2 Weapons: Forward-mounted medium laser cannons, forward mounted ion cannons, forward mounted concussion missile launchers. ASSORTED ARTWORK/RENDERINGS: CONTRIBUTED BY MEL: RESURRECTED STARSHIPS' TACTICAL ANALYSIS My body is ready, FFG...

    What's coming next?

The same place V-Tooth gets all his ship info, I'd guess... (...seriously, this guy lost all credibility on the forums a LONG time ago)

    Nib cost me the game

(Sh)it happens; this is part of the beauty of the game, sometimes this happens to you, sometimes to your opponent. Personally, I love these close calls - it gives the game that amazingly unpredictable turn-on-a-dime flavour

    Less is More

...que? Seriously, I haven't seen anything about that?

    Less is More

You can always play different formats, like Battle of Yavin. (I would have said Hyperspace, but that's getting the crazy new shizit anyway, so when it comes to complexity it's at the same level as Extended at this stage.)

    That's Not How Playtesting Works

    I take it that's not X-Wing then?
  7. FTS Gecko

Hooray. Upsilons on sale at Amazon for 12 bucks.

The stores selling them have already bought the stock from FFG, if anyone's making a loss, it's them. And with 2nd edition reprints to come, it's not really all that surprising that these guys are finding it hard to shift surplus 1st edition content.

LEGO Episode IX Releases (and what we will probably get as well)

Oh, you're absolutely 100% right on that point at least. Y'know, most people would treat an episode like this past week as an exercise in humility. But others just carry right on lacking in wit.

LEGO Episode IX Releases (and what we will probably get as well)

...after The Last Jedi, you mean. Solo had it's internal issues, true, but it's poor box office performance was more to do with Ruin Johnson's cinematic clusterfunk that came before it than what happened behind the scenes during production. Most people I know who actually watched Solo agree it was a pretty good Star Wars movie.

Since you're a self-profesded Star Wars fan, this particular quote explains a great deal.

LEGO Episode IX Releases (and what we will probably get as well)

It was rehashed, it was rushed, it was a wasted opportunity. Different studios, I know, but compare what Did EY has done with the Marvel franchise to what they've done with Star Wars. It's like night and day.

LEGO Episode IX Releases (and what we will probably get as well)

The entire sequel trilogy has been lazy story telling. Why stop now? As for these "leaks", none of them are exactly original, are they? They even say it themselves in the post. "ANOTHER Falcon?"

    Andrasta Day

Bacta Delivery is one of my favourite missions. The family jumping in with two ships and a transport, the suspicion from the Rebels, then the Imperial Deuce and Lancers jumping in and everything going to **** while the Rebels desperately try to evacuate. That's the kind of video game storytelling that some modern games fail to match, let alone 20 year old games!

    TIE Echelon

...but sporting a Galactic Empire colour scheme and not the FO's usual black and white? Maybe they're going off brand...

Me too. On the bright side, the game is still great, and looks sweet with the XWA update.

Or, for those of an Imperial persuasion... FLY GUNBOATS.

    5 Barrage Gunboats

No, that's just because everyone loves Gunboats. And we don't know how long it'll be before they see a 2nd Edition release.

Only joshing Captain. Do recommend changing that subject line though

    5 Barrage Gunboats

    *ahem*

    Hyperspace Prize Support?

Well, there is this (from Reddit):

    5 Barrage Gunboats

I'm sure everyone's well aware already, but don't forget if you want to fire Barrage Rockets after SLAMing, you need both a Focus token AND a Lock on the target. Possible (with Advanced SLAM), but not always easy...

    Who's the fool?: Rule dispute.

Did we ever resolve the question in the topic title?
  23. FTS Gecko

Scum post points adjustment... now what?

Not going to lie, I'm loving the look of Hutt Cartels at the moment. Assuming no changes, that'll be my System Open list

    Who's the fool?: Rule dispute.

Fair enough. Allow me then to preface that statement with "in my experience" - which may still be wrong, but not for my local meta! 😂 It's still the top end of Initiative values that are taking the enlarged bids though, for rather obvious reasons.

    Who's the fool?: Rule dispute.

My God, this thread. This thread. I needed this today. Thank you everyone. Anyhoo… Page 4 of the Rulebook. Under "Fundamental Concepts", appropriately enough: FUNDAMENTAL CONCEPTS: Before learning the steps of the game, it is important to understand these basic concepts, since they are referenced in multiple sections. INITIATIVE: Each ship has an initiative value on its ship card and token. Initiative represents the pilot’s reflexes, skill, or even luck. Numerous elements of the game refer to initiative, but its primary function is to determine the order in which ships act. The rules often instruct ships to act in initiative order, which means the ships take turns in numeric order. The rules will always specify whether to start with the lowest initiative (ascending order) or the highest initiative (descending order). If a player has two or more ships with the same initiative, that player decides the order in which they act. If both players have ships with the same initiative, those ships act in player order. The player who receives the first player marker during setup is the first player; their ships of that initiative act first. Then the other player’s ships of that initiative act. To be honest, bidding wars usually only ever happen when fielding Initiative 6 pilots. Any other Initiative level is probably going to want to make use of their available points.
