Seriously? this is your concern about the game?
we happen to have a 100% Male group, not one issue was raised when one of us has to play the female character in the game ... or any other game, such as Eldritch Horror .. in Fact we quite often go with female characters in Horror as they seem to have the better advantages. thinking back even with Cluedo who cared who was Miss Scarlet or Mrs White?? can't help but feel the SJW are getting everywhere
My Point, its Just a game, if someone looks at a playing piece and says "I can't possibly play that character, its a different sex to me" i think that says more about the player than the game

And by doing so doesn’t move the Faction token down the track until all agenda cards are drawn and reshuffled.

You only draw the agenda cards for enemy activation at the end of a round, not each player's turn.

Slash Macbain reacted to Darth Meanie in Are players in your gaming club staying with 1.0?
I probably fit in that small batch.
I only play with guys in the basement. There is a sweet spot for "conversion value" that I think most tourney players hit. My bro and I have way too much, the new guys have way too little.
Everyone seems to think that 2.0 is going to liquid gold, ignoring the fact that it is being minted by the same dev group they flamed 6 mos ago as being, shall we say, challenged in the game design arena.
And, in any event, 1.0 is not broken for me. We play for fun; JM5K, TLT, and Bomblets were never abused. My brother loves B-Wings, and I still dread them. So, given that there are going to be no new ships for a couple of years, I see no point in spending money to play stuff I already own.
Lastly, I just started a campaign with my brother, designed for balance around 1.0. It will probably take us a year to play thru at once-per-month gaming. All the 1.0 ships will probably still not have been converted by then. So, as @LordFajubi has pointed out elsewhere, I'll let you chumps beta playtest 2.0 (), work out the kinks, then see if it's worth $.
I can only see 3 caveats leading to Instant Conversion:
A. A bonafide, official campaign set featuring PvP (not HotAC style)
B. The introduction of Prequel ships and factions that completely break new ground, ship-wise.
C. A sale on 2.0 stuff so good that I would be a fool to pass it up.
If I ever "play in public" (GenCon, most likely), I could always be one of those netlisters who looks up the cat's meow and then just buys enough decent 2.0 to let me participate in an event.

Haha a "Thank You Letter"
If FFG wants to truly Thank their customers for their long-time investment then they could easily make PDF versions of all conversion kits available to download for free, those that wanted perfect quality items can still buy the kits, those customers that aren't as bothered, or may have limited money could print out on paper, remember there some players who have been paying since day one, and could now end up spending another $250 to buy all the kits, plus needing the new core set for the rules. The paper would be flimsy, the quality would be no where near as good as the kits, but it would allow FFG players a choice, and a way to continue playing and saving to be buy the physical items over time, **** they could even bring out a Medium Base Pack with maybe 2 bases in it.
That is how you Thank Loyal Customers

Slash Macbain got a reaction from RebelAcesPilot in One weird side-effect of all this 2e nonsense
They would still make money,
there are enough people who will blindly buy anything new without a second thought, and worship FFG like gods who can do no wrong, these forums show that. but there also those that have limits and can't afford to do that, but have still stuck with the game as much as they could.
and what Thank You have they received for that? .. "Gimmie More Money", don't get me wrong I'm not surprised, LFL has shown with its attacks on any General Star Wars fans that dislike TLJ it doesn't actually care what fans think anymore, **** maybe they are just trying to make up for the shrinking film profits and losses on Rose Tico figures haha
But trust me, some money is better than None if this turns away a large enough group of players. I have no interest in tournaments, never tool part, never intend to, X-wing is a fun game among my friend group, so I for one wont be moving to 2.0 and starting again with a $250+ price tag, and I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking that way.

Chinese manufacturing, only contains printed cardstock and plastic bases and pegs that are all the same, no models? I was under the impression that the bulk of the manufacturing costs comes from the model and the painting. What's your educated estimate?
-
Slash Macbain reacted to Tvboy in One weird side-effect of all this 2e nonsense
As long as every X-Wing player in existence (including all new players until 2.0 packs catches up to 1.0) buys at least any 2 conversion kits, FFG is going to make a **** ton of money off of us and probably couldn't care less that sales are going to drop between now and September. Those kits probably cost less than $7 each to manufacture and ship. 2e is going to be a masterfully crafted and calculated windfall for FFG.

As a player, I don’t care whether you own the cards you are using or not. All I care is that is is not difficult determining your squad at a glance. If you built your squad on a phone, that isn’t going to cut it for actual gameplay. I can’t read your phone from across the table, and I’m not going to keep asking you all game about whether you have certain cards or not. Especially now that some cards have charges or status (dual sided). You should be prepared to bring the required physical components of the game with you if you want to play me. Hey, if I have an extra card you need, I’m even willing to loan it to you for the gameagainst me. I’m not trying to create a barrier to play, I just don’t want to deal with a game where I have to work extra hard because you don’t feel it is important to show your squad the way it was intended to be. It would be especially aggrevating to lose, simply because I didn’t know you still had one more missle or that I didn’t remember that you opened your s-foils last turn.

in all the itterations of 40k, every new edition has spawned some kind of split. i think 2nd to 3rd was the worst split i saw. maybe 5th to 6th. GW did learn something though, they learned that instead of cold changing the edition. make the new edition so it would allow you to use the old material. for example from 3rd to 4th ed or even 4th to 5th, you could use the same codex from the previous edition untill a new codex was printed. and the army rules reflected the possiblity of a new edition. so you could play your army reguardless. untill your new codex came out and it wiped your army off the map. then the anger sets in.
dont get me wrong, i am in favor of the rule changes. i think from what i saw most of the changes to the rules look very cool and streamlined. BUT. maybe instead of completely changing EVERYTHING, maybe they should have just changed the rulesets without changing the cardboard. i would have had no issues needing to buy just a core set for rule changes. changing the cardboard to boot is excessive and expensive.

I think this whole thing is stupid. It is all based around assumptions. OP assumes the Brotherhood and Super Mutant are males and thus feels there needs to be more women. What if I assume those figures are female? Lore can back either point of view but in the end, assuming gets you nowhere. The first 3 letters of that word are what we look like when we assume. Being an SJW over an assumption is even worse. Asking for additional, more gender specific models only creates more traps. Increased production costs for starters. Then people will want transgender figures or any of the other flavor of preference out there (I am starting to lose count). As it stands, the game really has what, 2 confirmed male characters in the Vault Dweller and the Ghoul? 1 confirmed female and 2 which can go either way. That seems pretty balanced to me.

Slash Macbain reacted to eviltwin61878 in Sexism.....Sexism never changes......
I'm suspect the OP is trolling, which makes me wonder how this thread was even allowed to post, considering that every post I make is being policed by moderators...
but I'd like to chime in, if that is okay.
I mean, if I was an SJW, I would be in all caps right now "did you just assume the gender of the BOS and the Super Mutant characters?!"
I am not an SJW, just an avid fan of the Fallout Universe.
I use caps(not the currency, the other kind of caps) for emphasis, not anger.
This game has
The Vault Dweller, who is clearly male.
The Wastelander, who is clearly female
The BOS Outcast, whose gender is not visible, considering that the BOS has both males and females and they both look exactly the same in the power armor and there are several prominent female BOS characters in across all the games who all wear power armor.
The Ghoul, who is clearly male, but also a ghoul...although, it IS established in the video games that ghouls do have working...parts... and there are even ghoul prostitutes to cater to certain people's "preferences"
and The Super Mutant, whom as others above have already stated is androgynous and sterile. Several super mutants in the video games have asserted their gender. one(I belive its name is Fawkes, you find it in Fallout 3) claims to be female and explains that male and female super mutants look the same. while in new vegas, you find a super mutant companion that is female and talks like a granny and wears a granny wig to express her gender. however, given that they are sterile, I'm leaning toward the idea that the majority of super mutants are gender neutral or genderless and they themselves, do not have gender expression in their society as most of them don't even remember their lives as humans and probably don't even know what sex they were to begin with.
so, what we have is
NOT
4 males,
1 female,
WE HAVE
1 male
1 female
1 undeclared
1 neuter
1 walking corpse, formerly male, possibly with working male plumbing...
I would say that's actually pretty diverse and progressive, IMO.
I mean, the ghoul DOES start off vilified, so people in the wasteland might not be as open minded as I am,but hey.

The kicker? Two-thirds of the executive story team on the upcoming Star Wars movie is female. “I’m confident we will eventually hire a woman who directs a Stars Wars movie,” Kennedy added.
Not .. We will hire the Best Director, Not we will hire the Most knowledgeable director .... We will hire a woman director, Just Coz!! .. oddly all the female directors she has tried to get have turned her down.
So she got Rian Johnson ... Why? ..Not coz he knew the franchise or was an amazing director, he has actually done very little of any note ... but because he wrote it Her way .... her comment was something like "he writes strong, independent Female characters"
Social Pandering! .. And look how badly the films are doing now, especially TLJ
in the same way you shouldn't just change games, board or computer, to try and make women play, if Women WANT to play games they will, and I will give women the credit and respect that what gender a small bit of plastic might appear to be Does Not Bother Them, and if you truly believe it does, and that is why women don't play these games then you are painting women as incredibly Shallow, Vain people.
OMG .. yep face palm ... easy to solve ... ANY FEMALE PLAYERS OUT THERE PLEASE JUST RESPOND TO THIS THREAD WITH ... BOTHERED or NOT BOTHERED .... Many Thanks

I'm completely baffled. I can only assume this is a joke because I've been playing P&P RPGs and board games since the mid-80s and even as a 12 year old playing Talisman with my friends none of us wouldn't play as say the Prophetess because she's a female and we were boys. And if a boy in 1984 can play as a female character in a game without it being an issue I have to assume a full grown adult would be able to at least *pretend* to do the same in 2018.

I am with Crow on this. I still don't see a sexist view on this game. It really does feel like a troll post because of the far reach on that accusation. It was said that you get "bogged down in the semantics of insider "Lore" in regards to the characters sexes with the Brotherhood and super mutants. Well, the game is designed to appeal to Fallout fans and those said fans are expecting that "insider lore" because that is what is in the video game that they are now are excited is on the table top. You can't throw out lore just to fit your specific view point.
When I play Uncharted, Nathan Drake is a guy. I don't feel that is oppressive or sexist because that is how the story & game were written. When playing Tomb Raider, Lara Croft is a woman. Again, I don't feel that is oppressive or sexist because that is how that particular story & game was written. Fallout was was made in a certain way with its own lore. Fans of all 3 games expect the lore to remain, no matter what the medium is. If they made a Tomb Raider board game, you can expect everyone will want to play the Lara Croft figure because that is the lore and the main character. You won't see people complaining about the lack of some forced in "dude bro" figure to even the sexes count because that is just plain stupid. It doesn't fit the story or lore.
