  1. **** this challenge makes me wish I didn't volunteer to judge today.
  2. I'm far less bummed about this now
  3. I tried to watch First Earth's coverage of the European Champs and the site said the vids were locked behind a paywall. When did that start? Anyone got any background on the change?
  4. Clarification: Yes, the situation as I described it came up in a real game. No, I did not concede (For many of the excellent reasons pointed out in this thread, despite really wanting to help out my friend). I even had another person ask why I didn't concede and let my friend into the cut since I was locked up for a spot.
  5. The list I'm working on has about 9 points to spend. Looking for a crew to up Finn's game.
  6. So she. Building Finn in a pod, do you go Rose or perceptive copilot? Assume you also have heroic.
  7. This is how to super Vennie. Vennie gets 3 focus per turn. Even if he bumps or does stops. Greer enables defensive focus adds when jousting Vennie (60) Trajectory Simulator (10) Advanced Optics (4) Perceptive Copilot (8) Paige Tico (7) Veteran Turret Gunner (8) Proton Bombs (5) Seismic Charges (3) Ship total: 105 Half Points: 53 Threshold: 6 Nodin Chavdri (36) Korr Sella (6) PZ-4CO (6) M9-G8 (7) Jamming beam too I suppose Ship total: 55 Half Points: 28 Threshold: 4 Greer Sonnel (36) Advanced Optics (4) Ship total: 40 Half Points: 20 Threshold: 2 Total: 200 View in Yet Another Squad Builder 2.0: https://raithos.github.io/?f=Resistance&d=v8ZhZ200Z294X114W186W54W189W90W69W71WY352XWWW245W246W197WY270XWWW186&sn=All In Vennie&obs=
  8. You make an excellent point here. Had I conceded I would have definitely knocked out another 4-1 that was expecting to make the cut. Continuing this thought experiment, the table next to mine had the 2 4-0 players heading into round 5. Both players decided to final salvo and rest since they were "Guaranteed" to make the cut. The judge declared that the rules did not allow the players to arbitrarily final salvo and that he would have to record the match as a concession. The players agreed. My fellow 4-0's got to take a break on the last round. Would I not be entitled to that same break? Does the ethics of me conceeding to coast into the cut change because I had the pair-down? Interestingenough, had I conceeded, the player that would have been bumped out of the cut would have been one of the players who "Salvoed" their game, another good reason not to try to concede into the cut.
  9. Excellent points on all fronts.
  10. Interesting points. What if there were no perceived advantage (assume mirror match or equivalent). What if the only reason for a concession was to allow a friend into the cut?
  11. I had an interesting scenario come up at a Hyperspace Trial last weekend. Going into round 5 I was 4-0 with 1st place MOV about 200pts ahead of my nearest competitor. I got paired down vs a 3-1 that needed to win to make the cut. We played the match out and I was winning solidly. I had most of the opposing ships destroyed as time approached. Would it be ethical for me to concede the match right before the end, but after destroying a significant portion of his forces? Other relevant Info: In this particular situation I felt my list had a solid matchup vs his and could win a rematch. Given my MOV and record I would seed second and my round 5 opponents would seed near the bottom of the cut. (I can't say that a rematch would have been guaranteed, but certainly possible) Would this change if my round 5 opponent was a friend? In all cases assume that none of this was discussed with my opponent.
  12. Probably would have gotten DQ'd if we had played it out. The judge issued Sam and I 2 penalty points each because we weren't engaged on round 6 last game.
  13. The runner up can get it. It won't transfer past that.
  14. There was no final. The store was doing a 1 Day event and I already had an invite ( I just wanted that sweet Ric Olie Trophy). My opponent conceeded since they were getting the invite regardless of win/loss and it was already 10:30pm and he was playing a swarm. We had 7 rounds of x wing already played.
  15. 2.0 rolls only let you cheat forward/back .25 bases per roll.
  16. I've stumbled onto something in my list building. Anakin in an N1 with passive sensors and proton torps is pretty good. I don't see myself rushing to use the pilot ability, but a double modded torpedo is solid. What are your thoughts?
  17. If your spamming talent generics it can be really powerful. It lets out out DPS a lot of things in a joust, or force barrel rolls from an opponent (instead of mods)
  18. Disagree here. Being able to play multiple maneuvers at the same time it's stupidly powerful. On low Init ships I agree, just dial in the "right" maneuver instead of paying points. But on high init ships this tech turns some game risking 50/50 calls into a heads I win, tails you lose. Think Maul with seasoned navigator. He can dial up a 2 turn and change to either 2 sloop if the opponent blocked 2 hard. That said, there aren't many ships with the combination of initiative, dial and crew slots to make this card sing (this is probably a good thing for the game)
  19. Quad jumpers were pretty good when they used to be 28 pts. Now they are 32 points. Scum can't have nice things
  20. I'll just leave this here.
