Kind of what I like to try to do with mono-Jedi and have been hoping for since the beginning of the game.  Cool!

Here's a look at the ideas and cards behind Force Lock!  With the way the LS meta is shaping up, the typical LS Mains and Vehicle lists might have a new contender for meta dominance!

That's very interesting.  I love the Lightsaber and enhancement especially.

To me, the imagery of Seeds of Decay represents moments when either side started to "lose grip" on the Force.

LS Seeds of Decay: Luke has decided he'd rather die than give in to the lure of the Dark Side. Just like when he defied Palpatine on DS II, he defied Vader on Cloud City, planting the Seeds of Decay of the rule of the Dark Side.

DS Seeds of Decay: A Sith acolyte who's testing his newly constructed ligtsaber. We don't see his face, but the resemblance to the eternally hooded Darth Sidious is possibly no coincidence. It represents one of the points where the rot of the Old Republic gave rise to dreams of a New Order.

I'll give this my best shot. I think maybe when used by the Dark Side, it represents that LS character being tempted by the Dark Side, so they have to use their efforts to fight off that temptation instead of being able to further the cause of the LS. It's kind of an internal struggle taking place.

When used by the Light Side, I think it is the Dark Side taking its toll on the committed units. The saying goes, "You can't play with fire without getting burned," and I think the Dark Side is the same way. If you give into anger, fear, aggression, and try to further the cause of darkness, the darkness will try to take you down as well.
EDIT: I want to add a little more to this. For example, if the committed character is a Force-user or Force-sensitive, you can imagine that they are fighting off corruption of the Dark Side (think KotOR). If the character, is, say, a Jawa, you can imagine that they are having to take extra care in what they do as they further the Dark Side, since they are probably dealing with powers beyond their control. Think of Lando's deal with Darth Vader. If Lando were a DS character, Seeds of Decay could represent how his deal with Darth Vader went south. "This deal just gets worse all the time." Even Boba Fett could be affected by Seeds of Decay on Cloud City: "What if he doesn't survive? He's worth a lot to me!" In both cases, serving the Dark Side resulted in unexpected consequences that these characters had to deal with.

In both cases, the seeds of decay are really about the Dark Side of the Force exerting its influence. Well, that's my interpretation anyway.

EDIT#2: Changed a word for clarity. Also wanted to add a TL;DR: Seeds of decay represents the Dark Side of the Force seducing LS units and betraying DS units.

Let me see if I can give this a try:
    1 of 6
    Outer Rim Recruitment Drive
    Rebel Alliance Affiliation
    1 Resource
    5 Damage Capacity
Reaction: When this objective enters play, search the top five cards of your command deck for a [Rebel] unit and put it into your hand.

    2 of 6
    *Dice Ibegeon
    [Rebel Alliance Affiliation]
    Cost 3
    2 Force Icons
    Character.  Force Sensitive.
    2 Damage Capacity
    T B
    Elite.
While Lak Sivrak is in play, this unit gains T .

    3 of 6
    *Lak Sivrak
    [Rebel Affiliation]
    Cost 4
    2 Force Icons
    Character. Scout.
    3 Damage Capacity
    U B [T]
    Edge [1]
While Dice Ibegeon is in play, this unit gains Protect [Character].

    4 of 6
    Selfless Courage
    Event
    [Neutral]
    Cost 2
    2 Edge Icons
Interrupt: When a friendly unit would be destroyed during an engagement, you may put a unit into play from your hand.  If the unit that would be destroyed would have been destroyed by damage, the new unit receives that damage.

    5 of 6
    Covering Fire

    6 of 6
    Twist of Fate

I hope this isn't too overpowered.  I tried to get in several aspects of Dice's and Lak's story.  I am wondering if maybe an X-Wing and a Heroic Sacrifice could be there instead of the cards 4 and 5 that I listed.

For the characters, I wanted something that would express their romantic relationship.  Lak was pretty easy: I took the Shistavanen Wolfman and beefed it up a little bit (I like that card's icons and stats; it suits the species really well).  Since he was an Imperial Scout, I added the edge tactics in, too.  To keep him from being OP, I would be willing to give him one less capacity and/or Force Icon.  Dice was a neat character in the story, and I wanted to give her more 'cerebral' icons.

I wanted to get in more of the story with the event I made up.  It is a powerful effect, but that's why I made it cost two for an interrupt.

Covering Fire seems like a preexisting card that works well in the set and the story, a little bit.  Like I said, this one and the event could be replaced by an X-Wing and a Heroic Sacrifice.

Twist is Twist.  Um, if their being revived as Force ghosts counts as a twist.  Eh.

So yeah, that's it.  It was fun to think up.  I've never done this before.  It was hard, and again I hope it's not too strong.  I put my emphasis on telling the story and the flavor of the set/characters.  That's what I like best about the game and how it makes each set feel cohesive and organic, while fitting in an aspect of the universe.

I used to be very Vaderish in Magic, even though I was and am a terrible player.  Since I've started SW and LotR, I've become a Luke.  I just enjoy the flavor of the IP and how it's reflected in the cards.

I still want to get better, though.  I keep my red lightsaber in my sock drawer, just in case.

How's about this for a "Neutral" Affilation card: Give the Card Influence (as per BotF LS objectives) with the "downside to the upside" that to use the Neutral Affilation's influence, the cost of the card you play increases by 1.

This would allow for games with pods from 3 or even all 4 affilations and no serious risk of getting resource-screwed.

As for a cool character from the prequels who'd do great in the current setting, I want a card for Tarrful. Another Wookiee for the Wookiee Lifdebt's effect, who could have a tactics icon or Protect Force User to set him apart from the more generic Wookiee units.

I'll attempt to address this comment. First of all, you have to separate characters from actors. Just because the actors did a bad job, doesn't mean the character wasn't developed (and I am not saying whether or not I think the actors did a bad job). Let's look at some of these charactes.

Qui-Gon Jinn: He is a stoic, pensive individual. He has a strong sense of personal justice and will do what he thinks is right, even when it conflicts with what his superiors or other external forces tell him he should do. He is caring and compassionate, yet he keeps his distance. He is more wise than most, but not quite a sage.

Queen Amidala: She is young and naive, but very brave. Her courage extends not only to life-threatening situations, but she will also do what she thinks is right even if it puts her career on the line. She cares deeply for those whom she interacts with.

So here we see a main reason why some might say their are no good characters in episode 1: these two characters have very similar personalities despite being in very different occupations. But just because they aren't stereotypical characters that you can slap a label on (like Han Solo being a rogue) they still have character. But let's continue.

Obi-Wan Kenobi: He is a younger fellow who believes in maintaining the status quo. His quest in life is to follow the letter of the law. However, he can sometimes be swayed by those close to him to disregard standard protocol for their welfare.

Jar Jar Binks: A stupid, clumsy, childish, immature outcast. Perhaps the most stereotypical character in Episode 1. So you see, characters with easy-to-label archetypes are not necessarily good characters.

On a final note, it's important to realize that George knew all along that the first three parts were just setting the stage for IV-VI. Episodes I-III were never supposed to be about a hero's journey. Do I think they could have been done better? Yes. Could they have made it feel more about Anakin Skywalker than they did? Absolutely. But George didn't want to do the prequels for a long time precisely because he thought it would be a boring story, so I can't really fault him if they ended up being less dramatic than episodes IV-VI.

I really like that set!  The only change I would consider making is maybe giving the Shuttle a unit damage instead of the black tactics, but that's only because it's hard for me to imagine a ship without lasers.  Maybe swap out the black tactics for the unit?  But I also like the card as is, so I'm really just rambling.

I love the objective ability and its great combo with Palpatine in the Core Set.

I'm with Toqtamish on this one. There is nothing to be gained by being harsh in your posts. I mean, this just a game afterall! And we definitely need new players.

Besides, I bet with practice you can do really well with a 1-core deck. I'm going to go out on an uninformed limb here and wager that half of the reason top tier players use so much Core Sith is because they're used to it. They've been using those cards from the start and winning games. They have a solid understanding of which cards to play in which situation, what to discard to edge battles, what to commit to the Force, and when to discard something at the beginning of the draw phase. I don't see any reason someone can't get the same level of familiarity from a Force-pack-only deck. Will it be an uphill struggle? Probably, because those core cards are pretty strong. But I, for one, think it can be done.

I don't agree with any kind of harshness, whether you think you are right or wrong. This community needs to realize the constant bickering and stuff is hurting the game. New players are the games lifeblood. Get used to questions like this as they will never stop and if they do it means we stopped getting new players who need to ask the "simple" questions.

That looks like a pretty decent deck there JMCB.

I'm just an echo chamber in this kind of thread, really, but I do think there have been some good points all around.  I've been really vacillating over the issue for a while, myself, and I think that's the point: issues like this come up in games.  Their doing so is simply the nature of the beast.  Whenever I want to point the finger at someone (the designers/developers, playtesters, even people who play the dang combo) I always find myself pausing.  I don't think there's a clear-cut way from A to B here, and that's okay.  The problem has been stopped, at least for now.

Also, dbmeboy's "in the wild" has me inserting the cards into Pokémon quotes.  That'll probably be with me for the whole day.  Blah.
