This is why my guns travel in sacks made out of old wool blankets. To deter thieves. Also cause my guns are 1700's style muskets that are too long for modern shotgun cases. But that's another story.

I don't know why. But I assume this whole thread is a misdirect. I bet the delay is because of something YOU did, and you're trying to throw us off your scent. Probably you and Dewback Scout. I wouldn't put anything past that guy.

I like it!  Nothing against standard clones and stormtropers, but I am getting pretty tired of seeing a sea of white.  This is a good change of pace, and I like the camo scheme.  Well done!

The problem is, even the stuff rebels are specialized to do, they don’t do it particularly well... and if you get shot off the table it doesn’t matter what you were good at.

I agree with you the grey knights Terminator are beautiful minis, if you take them individually or as a squad.... But half of the body are covered by fabrics, medals it is what makes the color scheme to pop... The minis without such decoration are not my preferred (old tactical spaces Marines), specially if they are dozens on the table.

Yes, the fabrics and seals certainly make the scheme pop. Grey Knights also have their nemesis weapons, which allows for some eye-catching color if you paint them up with the psi energy on the blades.
I do like the look of their tactical marines as well, but I only play kill team, not the full version, so I am never running more than a squad or so.  I think you are correct that a full table of them with only metallics would look a little boring. Stormtroopers would especially suffer from this, as they have no additional equipment, etc. to break up the scheme.

Stop this blasphemy immediately!  The only space marine chapter worth a lick is the Grey Knights chapter, and they are clad in blessed, glorious, gunmetal armor. Their terminator armor is, in particular, quite schnazzy due to the sweet helmets.
I don't go in for much of the GW lore, but I do like the Grey Knights and their aesthetic.  To each their own, though.
OP, I recommend you look up some Grey Knights reference photos for ideas on metallic future-armor. I have painted a bit of it and quite like the way it looks, though I have not tried it on stormtroopers.

I mean, Armada has gone a year and a half without new releases and isn't dead.  It's like the camel of gaming communities in that it just wanders on regardless of how much attention is paid to it.

I like this solution but reroll 2 dice could end up better than cancel 1, maybe:
4+ cancel any 2 results  3 cancel hit or crit 2 or cancel hit only  1-melee reroll? The other option is literally make it a defensive aim, you get to reroll 2 defence dice, 3 with Nimble/Outmaneuver (just so outmaneuver doesn't become obsolete)

This is a good idea. Re-rolling for shields is better than an ability that gets ignored by the seemingly ubiquitous critical hits.

    Welcome to the game!

It takes a while to get used to each faction's identity and the dice rolls can seem quite staggered to new players, especially with small samples. Rebels are one of the hardest to play in my opinion because defensively they are hard to keep alive.  High activation counts are typical to rebel lists, it allows them to delay the use of power units until threat from enemy units has diminished. My advice, when moving up into cover also try to cohesion minis so that LoS is completely blocked to 1 or 2 minis in the group, preventing him from 1-shotting a whole unit. Remember, the objectives matter more than straight kills, so if you can get him to waste shots on a unit he can't kill, while simultaneously advancing the objective, it can help in the long run.
Dude, he's a new player. Don't be rude.  For many the dice seem VERY swingy starting out. My first 3 rebel games I rolled LITERALLY 5 blocks between them. Dice work on averages, it can take a while to level out.

Truthfully, no. As far as I understand the meta rebel lists are brutal combinations of high activation count and unit's with excellent action economy. They need to be played skillfully but they can be devastating.

Last list I saw in such a category looked something like this:

    Leia
    Sabine
    5x rebel troopers
    3x commando strike team snipers
    2x TuanTuans

I feel the unnecessary need to come to Armada's defense a bit here on a couple points. Though for clarification, I play both Armada and Legion and greatly enjoy both.
For starters, you'll be happy to hear that Armada will be getting the beloved Republic and Separatists factions at the end of the year, so at least the option for four factions will be there. It's just going to take some more waiting. Like with most of FFG's stuff.
I rarely see a Legion game that takes less than 2 hours, and that's even between experienced players who are playing practiced lists.  Armada certainly can take up to 2 hours to play, but from my experience, average gameplay time can take about an hour to an hour and a half if both players have enough experience with their lists. There are less activations and actions to deal with so the games tend to wrap up faster. If anything, it's usually squadron activations and movement that can really slow down an Armada game.
As for surprise attacks, there's plenty of options! Just not as easy as Legion allows. There's an objective that will allow the second player to drop in a ship at the start of any round, Admiral Raddus allows the Rebels to drop in a ship, and Raddus's ship, the Profundity, can hide a ship inside of it to drop out for a surprise attack! A rarely used upgrade, but an option, allows squadrons to hide inside of a ship to surprise attack too! There are a lot of strategic options beyond any of those that can really change the game in an instant. Timing and knowing when to activate a ship are just as important as any of the strategic activations in Legion.
I feel like Legion could be summed up in a pretty similar way. Everyone deploys their units, runs to cover over one or two turns, then sits in cover most (if not the rest) of the game taking shots at each other until one side's dice fail them enough times and the unit is eliminated or panicked away. The only units I see doing anything but that are melee units that have to move around more to get into a better position or vehicles that have compulsory moves that force them into different positions throughout the game. Oh, and the one objective that forces you to move to get your units into your enemy's deployment zone.
Armada doesn't have as many interesting actions, that's true. But the strategy in Armada comes from knowing target priority, maximizing attacks, focusing fire, how to move, how fast to move, what angle gets you best firing arc, and what move is going to keep you out of a deadly firing arc. It's just a different kind of strategy than Legion.

I love Armada, and I do believe it's the best balanced of all of FFG's Star Wars games. That said it is in desperate need of a card pack. So many upgrades are locked to a single ship, and stock of what is available can be bad. It's also much slower of a game, which can be a turn off to some.

Armada and Legion are both well-designed, incredibly fun games. The only reason why X-wing is so much more popular than them is that it's shorter, simpler, and generally cheaper (and easier) to get started.

    DEWBACKS
The long wait might have given me a little too much time to overthink the color scheme.
Usually, I find some subtle way to differentiate one Legion unit from another on the table, but this time - I decided one of the Dewbacks should just be some other lizard completely.
Here's the standard Dewback with a dirty Sandtrooper mount:

The alt started out as a Blue Tree Monitor - but those have black markings against the blue gradient, which just don't show up very well.

So I went back to the drawing board and found this guy - the Parson's Chameleon:

So he ended up a hybrid.  And instead of a dirty, weathered Sandtrooper, he got a parade mount, with shiny new Stormtrooper armor. Not canon, but easy to tell them apart!

And with the 4 loadouts on 2 mounts, I had to magnetize everything..

Yeah, the ranged dice are fine, but the melee dice with ram and tenacity onboard makes them better suited to melee actions.
