Sometimes I laugh harder simply because no one else gets my humor. But seriously, some including me thought it was a little out of line. We shared, you shared, we agreed to move on.

I disagree with this. I think it's actually quite the opposite. "Western culture" is a stand-in for modern culture. Aggressive and competitive behavior on the part of men, on the other hand, is a facet of traditional culture. I might grant you that the industrial revolution brought about a greater separation of gender roles, but the 20th century fundamentally changed the trajectory on that. We, in the West, are actually on the cutting edge of gender inclusiveness. It's just that many of us lament that we still have such a long way to go. Western culture may be dominate globally, but it's not the universal modern culture. And while it's made great strides to undoing the traditional polar roles, there's a long way to go. We're still inculcated with the same values, just to a lesser degree and with conflicting messages throughout life that we have to sort out.

Western culture teaches men to be more aggressive and competitive than women, but board game geeks tend to break that mold, at least somewhat. My wife likens miniatures war gaming to playing dolls that men can get into.

How would you gather forces fairly at a rectangular mat? Please don't don't suggest a triangular or circular mat. That'd be ridiculous (and table space inefficient).

I doubt FFG would introduce a ship based on a storyline of one Rebel retrieving one old abandoned ship.

The Team Covenant interview with the top two X-Wing game designers, just posted today, indicated very clearly that they will not use the same Chardaan Retrofit like fix from A-Wing for the TIE Advanced. I doubt there will be a -2 cost. They alluded to multiple title cards.

Well, you can do whatever you want with friends, but I'm sure most tournaments will maintain faction sanctity.

That doesn't seem fair to the S&V faction folks. Otherwise, I'd run the nuHWK and nuY-Wing with salvaged astromechs and illicit upgrades with my Rebels. And in the end you don't have so much a third faction as an aces pack for Rebels and Imperials.

Maybe he'll be a crew member available after the release of an Imperial huge ship. You can discard the card to disable the tractor beam.
