  1. So that a pre-made Performer named Gallag'hr can squash it with the Star Wars equivalent of a sledgehammer?
  2. I'm having the same problem with the installed-from-Google-drive version. It won't even try to download or install the update and it always has before.
  3. So, as I may have mentioned somewhere, I'd bought the books and read them without ever having gamed before. This afternoon, on Roll20, I took part in a run of the Beginner Game and, ****, did I have fun. The group tended to be an attack-first-ask-questions-never type of group, but there was a whole lot of laughter coming through the speakers and we managed to get through the adventure unscathed with the Smuggler even managing to convince the Twi'lek dancer from the cantina to come with us and join the group. The dice gods were smiling upon us and we succeeded pretty much every check. The only character who actually took any damage was the Bounty Hunter I played and that was mainly because I managed to tick off the Captain of the Krayt Fang by shooting him in the crotch so he focused his attack on me even though the Wookie was smacking him with his vibroaxe. The group is planning to keep playing together every Sunday, but creating our own characters for next week's run. I'm looking forward to it, especially for the laughter, but I have to admit that I'd love to join a more characterization-oriented group that would meet on Roll20 a different day of the week. (I admit to actually having a campaign concept, but don't think I would make for a good GM since A) I'm an utter tabletop novice and B) I really don't have time during the week to do all the things that a GM has to do. Ah, well. What is, is.) Still, I expect to keep having fun and laughs with this group for many Sundays to come and, now that I've played it, I can say more certainly that I really do love this system.
  4. Hi. I'm having a problem and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I used the Google Drive web install and it seemed like everything was fine, but when I go to start a new character and use the drop-down box to pick a stock portrait...there's nothing there for me to pick. I'm not sure if I did something wrong during the install to cause it to not install the portraits or something.
  5. I would say that the decks are really not necessary. They're more memory aids like the flash cards that some of us are old enough to have used as a way of learning basic math and such way back when. They've got pretty little pictures and descriptions of the talents from the talent trees and pretty much that's what they're good for. If you have a rough memory that's getting rougher as you get older (like I do ), then they'll come in handy. Otherwise, you'll never actually need them.
  6. I have a couple of questions. First, have you filled that spot yet? (My other questions are moot if the spot's already taken.) Second, would your group be willing to take in and teach (for lack of a better word) a complete RPG novice? (I've never quite had the opportunity to find a group to try this stuff with before, even though I've bought books for a couple systems over the decades.) Third, is the group looking for the new person to fill a specific role or career? I've had a couple concepts running around my head since I first read the EotE Core Book, but those concepts may not exactly mesh with what the group already has. At any rate, I am interested in this and look forward to hearing from you.
  7. So, the subject matter and the question are pretty much straightforward. I've been reading and enjoying the books quite a bit and have some character concepts in my head. This would be my first actual tabletop RPG experience (I've played online MMORPGs such as Ultima Online, City of Heroes and Star Wars: The Old Republic) even though I've bought and read other game books over the decades. (I'm falling rapidly towards my mid-40s.) If there aren't any groups in the W-B area, then can someone point me towards an online group that'd be willing to take in a total newcomer? (Not the Tenctonese kind of Newcomer either, if anyone even still remembers that reference. )
  8. I've sent my cancellation notice to MM too and picked up a copy from a quality eBay seller. If I can't find a good pre-order place for future books, I'll probably stick to eBaying the books as they arrive.
  9. *borrows line from classic 80s song* "Don't believe the church and state and everything they tell you./Believe in me -- I'm with the High Command."
