So, two plays of Into the Pit done today. Enjoyed them thoroughly. The only minimal issue I had was that Lore is somehow slow on resource accumulation so that some Lore cards were more difficult to put fast into play. Decks are actually really fun to play with, and deliver on the distance. They are a bit different from what I used to play (tons of cancel, direct damage, and cards allowing you to score a ton of progress markers), so, I just need to enter in the right mindset. It's nice to see how different the game can be played and still have fun
First game had a nice pacing, with stage 1 passed in 3 rounds, then 2 more to pass stage 2 (two patrol leader in play at that time), and then powerquesting for the win. Second attempt was a bit more complicated, due to a nefarious series of bad events that trounced poor Gimli in half. Despite losing one hero to the horde, I managed to pull a victory in 9 rounds. I'm staying into the Pit for 3 more, then move forward.

It depends on the platform you are using.
If you are using windows you will need to install Road to Legend via Steam in addition to Valkyrie.
I guess it's the same on Mac OS.
If you are using android there are special installation instructions for Valkyrie, but I haven't tried this out yet.
    I hope this helps.

Adding to my earlier post I agree with zinolau - i have not bought all the Descent 2nd content, i have the larger boxes and most smaller box expansions and a couple of hero and monster packs and the 3 co-op stories but there is so much more. I have painted about 75% of what i have but i am not done on this either. I do not really need more physical content.
    BUT
Many of us who buy into dungeon crawl style games like to collect, that is inherently part of the fun, to see what is new and coming soon. When a product stops developing then it starts to lose a bit of shine. I am lucky to have a huge Warhammer Quest original collection but i even wanted more of that at the time - i have never played some of it even 25 years plus later.
What i think is disappointing is that Descent now works with an app and this means you could add more stories without any new physical content - for many this would actually be enough and continue to encourage purchases. For instance if they built a campaign around the Manor of Ravens it would make me buy this box (it is one i do not own) or what about an undead theme based around Chains that Rust. It should have been much easier to generate new content and keep the game alive now than before. I still think every big and small box expansion should ultimately have an app story to play. Even charging for a new app campaign would be a model they could try.
I can believe they are holding off now to eventually develop a new game which is fully driven by the app like Mansions of Madness and built better and more interactive from the ground up. This concept is generally reaping rewards for FFG.

Yay I had a great game today after big break.
I went to my box and found my desk was in bits following previous redesign thoughts, so looked at my last bits here and designed a new deck on my notes.
Double tactics with single spirit. Gimli,  Legolas and Glorfindel (s)
Spirit I included threat reduction, cancellations, light of valinor,  unexpected courage and arwen undomiel.  Tactics I went combat orientated. Plus gandalf etc

It went really well. First draw I had valinor and bilbos ring. Great. Very lucky start.
Early on I got citadel plate onto gimli,  wow he soaked poison. Got stuck when the great Web location meant we couldn't quest to remove location lock but arwen was drawn and played and we slowly removed it as she tipped the balance. That was a tough point. Unexpected courage went on gimli and things went good then.
From then on it was mainly combat and questing
Managed to quest through stage 3 and 4 to a win.
Stage 3 was the most difficult. At first because of unconsciousness but then later because even with all characters conscious,  the Web location plus lots of poison meant I couldn't quest enough to clear the location (until arwen) so it was worrying at that point.
But it came good. Great game and close win.
Gandalf never appeared (slacker). Defender of Ramas was a trooper, Arwen saved my bacon, citadel plate on gimli was awesome.

Great game, enjoyed. I think I will use this deck a few times on this scenario for fun now before moving on to the next scenario.

I don’t post on these boards much at all for reasons I won’t get into. I just wanted to let you know that I really appreciate what you have done for the community through here, Ringsdb and the COTR podcast. I have been a listener since the very first episode and have enjoyed all the hosts. Having become a recent father and with all your educational and employment responsibilities, I am grateful for the time you invest into the game and the sharing of your inisights. I enjoy seeing your thought process for these various decks and the game in general. I play this game for fun and fun only. You have added to that immensely. Thank you.

Thanks @4n6gamer, that means a lot! This is my main hobby and it's always been a pleasure to contribute to the community, even if those contributions are are getting to be more infrequent now with my new responsibilities you mentioned. But I would've stopped long ago if it weren't for supportive community members like yourself! Thanks for being a long-time listener of the podcast as well!

I think people are misunderstanding what I mean by "one deck to rule them all". What I mean is that I have used this one deck, with no sideboard, to beat ALL the quests. I don't mean this deck rules over all other decks out there. I don't mean that this deck is better than any other. As you say, the term "best deck" in this game is impossible to define.
Your version of Vilya may very well be better than mine at Escape from Dol Guldur. But you are misinterpreting my number here. I did not "lose" to Dol Guldur 53 times. I reset the quest 53 times until I got an ideal setup+prisoner. Then I won on that attempt. Who knows how many times I might have won if I had actually played through each reset? Probably a few times. But in the interest in time I did not want to do this as I had many other quests to get through.

    Guys,
I'm returning to the game after a couple of years of nothing. Unfortunately, I won't have time to deckbuild anything, and too much time has passed since I played the game to remember properly the cards. Can someone kindly point me at 2 good dwarf decks (fun to play, not game-wrecking)? The only requirement would be that one deck is Leadership/Tactics, and the other one is Spirit/Lore. I have access to all the cards in the game (only 2 core sets tho), so, building any deck shouldn't be a major problem.
And yes, I know Dwarves should be easy to build, but really time is of the essence (leaving for holidays in 36 hours and still snowed under with work)
Thank you for your time and help!

Authraw, thanks for the link to your decks! So far, I'll opt for Denison's, mostly because they were thought to work together, which was what I was looking for, but I appreciate the listings! Possibly this is the right time to return to the game and stay (I played 350 games over 18 months or so, and then I was forced to the longest break, and I feel like I'm just scratching the iceberg this game is. Wanna play a lot more)

Usually, I do not try to speak for anyone other than myself ... but, I am fairly certain that there is a large contingent of individuals that participate within this forum, that would be very happy if the only new physical content that was released by FFG for D2e contained the following:
The remaining unconverted 12 heroes from D1e Classes to balance the Archetypes (Healers-5, Mages-5, Scouts-6, Warriors-6) - so give us another Healer and Mage class Hybrid Classes to finish out all of the reasonable possibilities If FFG would create and release the above, I would consider my collection complete, and would be satisfied if the only new content (if any) was digital.
Make no mistake, I would love additional physical expansions, but if I received the above, I wouldn't be unhappy if it didn't happen.  Without the above, D2e seems unfinished to me, and causes my OCD/Completionist self to twitch uncontrollably at times.

At one stage, not that long ago, i was buying loads of FFG products and expansions and the company hogged my game budget - LOTR LCG, Descent, Runebound, Battlelore, Warhammer Quest Card Game, Arkham Horror LCG.
Sadly in 2017-18 i am buying close to nothing, the move into Runewars has killed off Battlelore and Runebound additions, Star Wars seems to churn out never ending model lines and Imperial Assault app has meant Descent was dropped. I also sold Arkham Horror LCG as i never really took to the mechanics. So i am left with LOTR LCG as the only live product just now, and i here own arguably more than enough of that already.
I would definately buy any new content for Descent 2nd and Runebound 3rd - especially if they added ice themed boards and expansions, that is my dream next expansion. But it is probably all wishful thinking. I suspect there will be nothing in 2018 and maybe just a glimmer of hope for a 2019 or 2020 Descent 3rd edition built around the app.
I just have to resign myself that FFG have moved into areas i am not so interested in with Legend of the Rings, Runewars, Arkham Horror, Game of Thrones and endless Star Wars skirmish games.

I wanna test a deck.  Build a scenario, I want to play an easier scenario, it’s been a while since I won. I want a challenge, build a super tough one.  I want to be surprised, build a random one.

At GenCon50, they said something is coming and reiterated that Decent was important to them.  At GAMA, they said pretty much the same.  I assume they have not forgotten about Decent but they are not making it a big priority either at this point.
