Ive noticed the news reports get the same title too, so I get excited for an LotR news-piece then find its for the digital, which isnt something I personally am interested in. I am sure this is marketing to attract cross-game but its quite irritating as the games are different so should have differentiation in news and forums.

    Hello everybody,
I just uploaded the next update, which will allow the save/load system to work with our campaign.
Please note: You will need to install the latest version of Valkyrie Brynhildr to run the campaign. Sadly it is not compatible with the last official Valkyrie release.
You can find Valkyrie Brynhildr here: https://github.com/BenRQ/valkyrie/releases
    Changes:
    - Reworked campaign structure to work with the Valkyrie Brynhildr release (This allows saving and loading to work as intended)
    - Added an "End Campaign" button to the travel phase (This will work after the next Brynhildr bugfix release and allow rating the campaign)
As always, the update can be downloaded in Valkyrie.
Sorry it took so long to get this sorted out.

    This!
Clicking on a News item only to find it is about the digital game is extremely annoying.

alexbobspoons got a reaction from Bartheus in My One Criticism/Suggestion in an Outstanding Game App (FFG fix?)
I love this game, truly excellent, well worth my money.

But I do have one small but worthy criticism. (Steam version). When in the setup stage of exploring into another room, the app shows you the new room with walls/doors etc highlighted, BUT in some cases, the big text box obscures quite a chunk of the detail, sometimes Im really having to look to see which way around the room is oriented and where they have put the token walls/doors etc.
As soon as you click on the screen, it moves onto the positioning of the next token items and the wall/door/etc highlight disappears, so sometimes I find you need the room finished in-app and then have to then look over it to see if any walls/doors/etc were missed in your setup.

I think a solution would be that after the screen shows setup, instead of 1-click moving to the next stage of setup, 1-click simply removes the text box, then a second-click moves the setup onwards.

Its true that other solutions could be a click-icon to make the text box disappear, or mousing-over it to make it transparent (not touchscreen friendly), but I thought the extra-click would be the easiest to code and also the best solution cross-platform that would work just as well for mouse or touchscreen. For those not needing it, double-tapping isnt too hard and maybe it could also be turned off within settings.

I realise this thread may get comments from people more familiar with the components (and yes the rooms have labels) but for me this is a little niggle that would make the game flow so much better and would be very easy to code-in on an app update.

So for me personally I would hope FFG may see this thread and take this thought on-board and maybe make the tweak please.

And as a last note: Very well done on an awesome creation FFG!
    Alex

    Its a shame.
I am continuing to buy products for the FFG games I have but due to the actions of the last couple of years I think I will not buy into any new product lines no matter how nice they may look.

The silence to fans is so frustrating. The teasers that come to nothing (promising CoC pod packs then nothing,  implying more is coming for descent then a year later we are still waiting etc etc).

Releasing products with exclusive promos (I do not want to have to buy a book-series that I don't want just to get a handful of exclusive cards for AH-LCG. Or a whole new core/collector set for LotR LCG full of unneeded digital content just for 2 new quests) massively frustrating.

The content for the imperial assault app is excellent but why so slow at release? Its almost like the enthusiasm has gone.

New awful packaging and other points such as price are obviously there but the above ones directly affect play.

Its just a big shame. Such great products and yet as a customer and collector I have kind-of lost trust.

And yet FFG do not read these forums so they never know the feedback from fans, which tends to look like they don't care. If only they read this feedback.
Games Workshop screwed over fans for years and it took a long time before people walked away and it was noticeable in profits but it did happen. Then GW started listening to what the fans had to say and changed some things and now are making huge profits again. Personally I am still not happy with GW but I do have to admit they have made great changes so-far this past 2 years in line with fan desires.

Sometimes now I almost want my FFG games to be discontinued so that I can call the collection complete and move on to other companies products that I feel more confident in the customer-support and loyalty (my ocd collecting aspect stops me choosing to abandon a game while content is still being produced). It's very sad.

And the silly thing is that it would be a huge help if they just publically said either "we are not developing anything for Descent2 in the near future" OR " We are developing something it's just going slow"  its that simple.

Hmm. It's relatively surprising how they just stopped making products for Descent 2nd Edition. Even if they just wanted to release Campaigns like Heirs of Blood, or products for Road to Legend, I believe that would have been good enough even for the hardcore fans.
It's just a shame that it seems unfinished. There was so much more content to explore, like doing a Campaign involving the Latari Elves and the Uthuk clans.
But no, all the focus went to Star Wars. And I get it, Star Wars itself is popular, so getting product out for it, is essential. X-Wing is a booming business...**** even I'm tempted to buy some ships. I actually won't though, because I'm more interested in the Wiz Kids version, Star Trek Attack Wing.
Now there is a company whom, actually rereleased it's product line, giving us better looking ships, more options and updated rules.
And so, I can't help thinking why FFG can't do the same.
Runewars wasn't the answer. For one, it was too **** big and cost way too much cash. 100 bucks for the starter game and then to add onto it, you had to buy 30 dollar units. Some people don't have that kinda paper. The thing is though, is that I did actually buy a unit of Spearman, but y'know what, it was actually for Descent!
Descent taught us that if you have something already well established, with great design, people will part with their money. And for all it's worth, Descent was a game line that was just that.
So why couldn't they have continued with it? Why was it just abandoned, just as Battlelore was? Nobody knows the answers to these questions more than FFG. But they don't tell us fans anything.
That's probably one of the worst things a company can do- lose touch with your fans. Because them, you have nothing. Just a pile of Star Wars paraphernalia that will one day die off.

I perfectly get where you are coming from, and as I said, not buying things from FFG going forward might be the only thing you can really do.
I've only been involved in boardgaming for the past 5 years (mostly due to FFG games), but due to their Star Wars focus and some other things they also seem to lose me. By now the Asmodee takeover has an eerie similarity to what happens, when EA aquires a game developer. While I'm pretty sure that FFG will continue to be somewhat successful in the near future, I'm not sure they will be where they are today (in a market with ever growing competition) forever. You can only raise prices and ignore your fans so much before they leave, for which you are the best example. To survive they either have to get new customers, or they have to focus on their successful lines.
But with all that said, Descent is still a great game, and I'm very happy to own it. And even though I'd have wished that they'd continue the game, I have enough content to play for years, perhaps even decades. Thanks to the app I can't see myself getting bored in the foreseable future.
So even if Sword and Sorcery is a good game (which I can't judge since I never played it), I really don't need to have another Dungeon Crawler at this point in time. And even though I really grew to like the Terrinoth/Mennara universe, I'm also not yet convinced that I will ever need a 3rd Edition either. After what they did with Descent they would at least have to prove that they are commited to support the game longer next time, before I'd consider buying in again (assuming that a 3rd edition would be any good of course). It will be an uphill battle for them to compete with all the other alternatives on the market, but that's the price they will pay for letting down the vast fanbase of a pretty successful game.

Problem with the Quest Vault is that is very clumsy web based creator. It seems to be not supported anymore and hanged in Open Beta status forever. Chains that rust are missing from tile base.  By adding this function with some tweaks to Road to legend app would be great addition, ofc with possibility to for example make random dungeons then tweak it by myself, or campaign creation tool I would proffer that over the Trials of Frostgate to be honest if available.

The Shadow Rune project hinges on the volunteered free time of a single programmer. These things get a lot more done when people put some money behind it.

Yep.  I was really hoping that we'd at least see the original campaigns released for RtL.  As I said, I'd have gladly paid for them and it'd be relatively easy for FFG to convert the existing the scenarios/campaigns to co-op, so I don't really get their lack of commitment to D2e via RtL.  The app seems like it would have been a great way for FFG to extract more money out of an aging product and make the fans happy; it would even potentially bring in additional sales of physical product, like it did with me as I'd rather play co-op than 1 vs many.

Polish FFG Descent distributor-Galakta, claimed that they are currently working on RTL patch right now for Polish localization. So probably there is something going on- at least at the localisation level. They said they got some files to work on recently.   And this week last missing box- Mists of Bilehall hit the shops here:)

That's what is really sad about the RtL situation. The built the very functional framework, they added quite a bit of content for free, and at it's peak it seems as if they decided to abandon app development.
RtL would have been a great platform to sell content. I'd be happy to buy new campaigns, more side missions, or even things like random event packs, new monster activations and additional perils. The pricing of the paid content has been reasonable (disregaring Trials of Frostgate which just isn't very interesting from a gameplay perspective), and since a lot of the content in the app is free, there is no barrier of entrance for the numerous owners of Descent 2E.
It all seems like a massive missed opportunity. And it would be tragic if they decided to stop development because Trials of Frostgate didn't sell well.

I was on the fence with D2e for a couple of years as I had committed to Armada and dabbled a bit with X-wing.  But every time I’d go into my FLGS, I’d keep getting drawn to D2e and, eventually, I took the plunge.  Knowing the product was getting a bit stale and possible nearing end of life, I snagged all the expansions, lieutenants, and m&h packs and was banking on scenarios being released for RtL.  I must admit that I’m a bit shocked FFG hasn’t capitalized on using RtL to sell more scenarios/campaigns.  I suspect they don’t have the resources dedicated to writing worthwhile content for the app, but still, it seems like a bit of a let down and a missed opportunity.  They could have easily converted all the boxed set scenarios/campaigns into a digital co-op format for RtL, charged a bit of money, and made a decent profit.
I’d have a hard time committing to a 3rd edition to be honest and they charge a bit much for upgrade packs.

I don't want a third edition (I'm just now getting close to owning everything in 2E) but much like with many FFG lines, I wish they were more a lot more transparent about the state of the game.

As a fan of stuff like IA and Descent, GenCon can be downright depressing when we get nothing year after year.

While I mostly agree with you, I think the feeling of incompletion is a result of it looking like everything was going to be completely rounded out.
One hero and monster pack is great- but then every single 1st edition monster was updated, as well as every 1st edition hero... except 12.
Big boxes had 1 of each hero/class, and the small boxes had alternating sets of 2, and Mists arrives with... no heroes. Chains follows up with new types of classes, but still no heroes.
Is it fair to expect FFG to do more because they already did more than originally expected? No.
The game isn't really incomplete, I agree; however, it does kind of feel like it is.

The gray bar is the same color all the way across- but the colors around sure make it look like one side is darker than the other.

Very Glad that they announced nothing about a 3rd edition. **** i am far away from having gone through all the campaigns yet (meaning by that playing each 3 times, RtL included). I just regret that there isn't a RtL campaign for the Mistlands boxes.
I really appreciate Descent 2 as it is.
For the futur i think the only current competitor is GloomHaven, but i think thats mamageable for FFG. Let them time to come with something really interesting. Anyway GloomHaven material (tiles, standees,...) is just crap.

I certainly wouldn't buy a 3rd edition, 2nd edition was expensive enough to acquire.
It had to end sometimes, but they could have done it with everything being "completed":
    - Same amount of classes
    - Hybrid classes
    - All first edition heroes released in 2nd
    - ...
Now it feels uncompleted, a slap in the face of every fan that wanted a completed collection.

All of the monsters and most of the heroes have been released in the Hero and Monster collections. A good list is here, but I'm not sure why you're asking for it.
What do you mean by missing bits? The conversion kit includes cards for every monster and hero that ever had a card in 1st ed, including promo heroes and heroes from the game Dungeonquest. It expects you to have the plastic figures from 1st ed though.
