Sorry if this has been brought up before but I couldn't find anything on the subject.
I have two questions about the interactions of these two cards. Does the May trash of DR override the Must trash of NaT? Does the trash at no cost of DR override the by paying its cost of NaT?
Thanks in advance.

I could see beastmen being lumped in with Chaos but if Tomb Kings get lumped in with Vampire Counts it will be a massive blunder on FFG's part.

I didn't really care that dwarfs were the main feature of the expansion with Wood Elves and Lizardmen being the side show. But after that update I really want to see more of them and wish I was able to play a two regiment game of Lizardmen. Reading about them I like their balanced melee/range game.
Is poison just damage that doesn't get removed at the end of the turn? the effects of it would have to be pretty strong to justify 8 points on the skink skirmishers

Thanks for the responses.
Yeah I figured it was going to be a weird question to answer because of most likely split damage taking out disks and because people typically don't record these types of things.
I wish I had a regular gaming buddy that liked this game so I could test things out more and get more games in to figure out if I like this game and like it enough to invest in its future releases.
My favorite way to kill stuff is with impact though. It was pretty sweet to have two knights panthers team up to take out a bloodthirster. They guy seems kind of sad in the Knights get the drop on him.
The team I fielded that game was very high on impact damage so maybe results skewed to having more impact kills. This was my team:
Volkmar the Grim
Marienburg Swordsmen
Talabheim Greatswords
Knights Panther
Steam Tank
Luthor Huss
Marienburg Swordsmen x2
Knights Panther
Steam Tank
Command Cards
Myrmidia's Blessing
Inspire
Entrap
Rally

I haven't been able to play much of this game because my usual opponent doesn't like it at all. I can't really say either way because of lack of plays. I am curious though on how your games are typically playing out.
Things I want to know are: what % of disks are being killed by ranged/magic/special action attacks? what % of disks are being killed by impact? and what % of disks are being killed in melee combat?
Maybe you could factor in tag team effort if you want like ranged attack did initial damage but impact finished off the disk or you could just count what ever did the final damage.
Maybe also tell us if you are playing order or destruction in addition to these figures.
From my tiny sampling it seems that Ranged is causing the most deaths (maybe 4 or 5 disks killed) followed by impact (with 3 disks killed), then finally melee (with 2 disks killed). This is how it went in my latest game of Empire vs Chaos. One Chaos disk was killed from impact of Hellcannon but still counting that as an impact death.
It is actually difficult to remember where all the different deaths happened from but range and impact definitely had more then melee. Maybe ranged had 4 kills and impact 4
I'm also curious how many deaths happen per turn. In that last game that was played 0 died in the first turn and then things exploded in turns 2 and 3 with lots of disks dying. Don't remember the exact numbers and the game ended after turn 3. It seemed like we should have had less cards in hand as the game went on because at the end of turn 3 I had more orders available then I had disk.
It would be interesting to see how others games are playing out and it will give me an idea of if I'm playing correctly because things just seem to die to ranged attacks. Those two steam tanks plus two knights panther did give me a lot of range and impact damage so maybe that just skewed things.
Please post your disk death from various things spread and disks dying per turn below.

Reanimating works some what similar to how I imagined it for Tomb Kings. It was on a TK command card though here's how I pictured it working
Here's the link to the full write up if any one cares enough to look at a random person's thoughts on the internet

Raise Dead
3
Slow
Either raise the toughness of target undead disk by 2 until the end of turn (the effects of this spell last until damage tokens have been removed) or bring a skeleton warriors disk into play with in long of a caster. This disk is removed from play during the end phase.

If you don't like the concept of a card game that is gradually added to over time then all I can really say is that LCGs aren't your bag, or at least new ones aren't.
You may be right there. I do prefer games that offer a complete highly competitive experience right from the start and aren't expanded that often. But I do like asymmetrical card games a lot and I used to play a lot of 40k so this one did catch my eye and will probably just watch as things develop and see if it is for me. I still can't stand how FFG packages things though. 2 of everything while better then 1, 2, or 3 copies of things is still not ideal and would rather have a core set that included 3 of every card for $50 or $60.
-
5. I wouldn't recommend buying 2 cores at first seeing as you don't know that you will end up enjoying the game.
I mean I would definitely do research and read the rules before I bought that game to get a good idea if I'd like it. But as customers we vote with our dollars. If I say on these forums that I don't like the model x1, x2, x3 copies of various cards in a box set and then go out and buy 1 or 2 core sets any way it is defeating the purpose and the companies wont care that I don't like this model because they already have my money.
-
There is nothing to say you won't be able to build faction pure using just the core set in multiple copies.
Yeah I would be okay but you're paying money for all the extra tokens, planet cards, warlords and their cards, and token cards that you don't need any more. But even with this I would still consider buying multiple core sets as long as their was only one copy of each of the remaining cards. I don't want to buy a core set multiple times and get less and less cards I can use with each purchase. I really can't stand how FFG packages their customizable games and if they have 1 copy of some cards, 2 of some, and 3 of others I will refuse to buy the game.
Does any one know how the cards were distributed in Netrunner? this being their newest LCG will give me an idea, maybe, of how they will package this one. Just want to know so I don't get my hopes too high.
-
The Core set is a tiny little fraction of the whole game, with the rest of it appearing gradually over the course of perhaps a decade or so. Don't be so focused on this one fairly small piece of the bigger puzzle.
Yeah some people would be okay with this. I would rather pay more and get a starter set that has many more cards and allows for pure faction customization right from the begining as opposed to having to wait a year before that is possible.
-
This game has me interested in starting a lcg. The card count has me a little concerned though. It says over 200 cards split across 7 factions. Depending on how many copies there are of each type of card this could lead to there being not very many options for each faction.
So there are 7 warlords that always have their set of 8 cards. That's 63 cards right there.
Worst case scenario that leaves us with 138 cards (201-63=136). Divide that into 7 factions gives us 19.7 cards per faction. Then depending on how many copies of each card comes with that could give us any where between 6.6 (if 3 is the max you could include of any card) to 19.7 unique cards per faction.
Best case scenario after warlords and their groups we are left with 236 cards (299-63=236). Divide that into 7 factions gives us 33.7 cards per faction. Then with multiple copies of each card that gives us any where between 11 to 33.7 unique cards per faction.
This might not mean anything to a lot of people but I found it kind of interesting to crunch the numbers. Also it has me really hoping that when they say over 200 cards they really mean nearly 300. Also I think with this low of a card count that only one copy of each card is included they only bummer about this is getting all the worthless extra stuff you don't need when you buy sets 2 and 3. It seems that right out of the box being able to do a pure faction deck will not be possible and even then options will be limited. I really hope they don't go with the dreaded model of some cards getting 1 copy some having 3.
I am curious how the expansions will work for this game. I wonder if they will do the usual lcg thing of monthly 60 card packs which would give us 8 or 9 cards per faction and then if they come with 3 of each card that would give us 3 unique cards for each faction per expansion pack. Or I wonder if they will do what they are now doing with the Call of Cthulhu lcg and just do big box expansions.
Does any one know how the card spread will be in the starter box? Or am I just going to have to wait for the updates because any one that does know cant say rightnow?

The hardest part about understanding the rules is the way FFG writes their rule books. I've always hated their rule books and if you ever need to find a rule mid game it can be quite difficult to find the right rule. But if you ever need a rule cleared up you can ask on the forums and some body will be able to help you out.

Out of ideas? seriously? Bretonnia, Ogres, Beastmen, Tombkings, and honestly for the most part they have only JUST scratched the surface on the armies that were released. There is still a whole lot for them to do.
As I said, a lot of it has overlap, yes, they can release individual factions, keep beastmen and chaos separate and all that, but the question is what about the factions that you can merge the two, IE chaos. As I said, when they get to the factions that have overlap or shared units, we are possibly going to see multi colored disks, rather than a Tomb Kings/Vampire Counts army, or Chaos/Beastman army.
If Tomb Kings and Vampire counts can work together in this game I'll throw a fit. Tomb Kings haaaaaaaate vampire counts and they better not be working together. Also even though they're both undead they have completely different play styles.
Not sure what happened with my above post. For whatever reason it kept coming out in blocks of white. sorry

I think one of the main reasons they have the order/destruction factions is for tournament play. It makes it so opposing sides could never bring the same units to the game because if they did it could get quite confusing trying to remember what units belonged to which player when the scrums started happening. Maybe I wrong though. Does any one know if order vs order or destruction vs destruction is allowed in tournaments?
If you want to mix any faction you want though I see no harm in this. I don't know of any broken combos that could come up but If you find some they would be easy enough to ban in future games.

I'm devastated. Why does the younger undead brother get all the attention? oh well. Looking forward to more options either way. I think I would have preferred each box set having 2 fully playable races as opposed to one and 2 other races that could field a regiment since I don't really like mixing races these side regiments wont mean a lot to me until a future expansion brings them up to playable level.
Mixed race armies are allowed. Some of these one-regiment races may be very playable.
Oh I know. I was talking for me personally I don't like to mix races.

I think it would be cool for some of the chaos/crazy goblin units is they had different stats/different abilities on either side of their disk. I think that could work well for goblins and add to the flavor of crazy goblin wackyness and it could work for some of the more unpredictable chaos units.

This came up once before and some one contacted FFG and got an answer. The Sky Cutter does untyped damage. Meaning it ignores both kinds of resistances
Bright Wizard reacted to this -
It's one hero per regiment. 2 regiments will have two different heroes. 3 regiments will use three different heroes.

The impact damage would not be dealt. on page 21 under keywords impact reads: A disk with impact deals physical damage equal to its impact value to each disk it pins after a flip... so impact only works while the disk is moving and would not trigger on being placed through reinforcement.
Edit: the impact entry in the keywords also goes onto say: Impact damage is not applied when a disk is deployed or reinforced pinning another disk...
So unfortunately for chaos players (and a great boon to every one else) the rule book is very clear on this matter.

remember that it also lose The toughness bonus band may tale a wound
Has that been confirmed by FFG? what is the order that tokens are removed? Aren't empowered and damage tokens removed at the same time? so they couldn't take the wound if the lose of toughness and the loss of damage happened at the same time.

I would go with mono Empire. Not sure what style of empire I'll be playing. Still got to get a better feel for them. I wonder if more people will focus on a race or if they will have different races for their regiments.

Sorry if my response sounded rude. I didn't mean for it to sound that way if it did.
Edit: was just worried that it could be read snippy. When it comes to posting on the internet I always worry about the tone of my posts being read the wrong way.

I'm thinking about getting into the game and live in Chino Hills as well. But I wanted to find out if there was a group of people playing in my area first. So, is there a group you play with at a particular hobby shop? Or do you just game at home with friends?
