You have to take into account how the dice rolls function. If you have a 1 in a given stat, you will be much less likely to have any successes vs a 2 or a 3, let alone a 4 or 5. So before dice start getting cancelled out, a 1 represents a 1/6th chance at success. Of course you have other modifiers that increase those odds through adding extra dice, but if your stat doesnt increase then on each dice you still only have 1/6.

    So I think:
1 is incompetence : your skills in this area are very much lacking. a 30 yr old computer wiz that lives in his mother's basement might have high logic but a 1 in charisma or empathy.

2 below average : you know a few things here, but not enough. I would think your average teenage gal who isnt physically active would have a vitality of 2.

3 average : not horrible, but not excellent either. Having any stat of 3 would be well rounded. Me, Ive been in the military before, but Im out of shape now. I'd say my dexterity is 3, if I started working out and such more often it could definately be a 4....

4 above average : you have a lot of ability in this area, but it could still be improved. maybe some guy that plays intensive sports like Football, or Real American Football (no insult to you rugby guys) would have a vitality or dexterity of 4

5 excellent : this isnt super human, but something that has been honed to near perfection. Like my computer wiz example for logic, or a navy seal/british royal marine/your choice of top dog military personel for dex or vit and a social worker/phychiatrist for your social stats...

There's no such thing as "proper interactions," there's just how you and your friends have fun telling stories together. I think the memory thing sounds like an awesome idea.

I like the idea suggested of one roll per sleep period, and questions equal to the number of successes rolled. I would further suggest that you limit it to Yes/No (or True/False) questions to keep things from being revealed too quickly.

This is certainly true. Sometimes, players will guess your entire plan from something you thought was a harmless clue. Other times, they'll take something completely irrelevant and run with it in a completely different direction; ignoring the "obvious" hooks you laid out to keep them on track.
You need to be prepared for them to make a left turn when you were planning on a right.

My humble suggestion would be to prepare a handful of encounters that are location-agnostic. Independent, plot-wise, but connected thematically. They could be happening anywhere, and each one will contain one or more clues pointing the players in the direction you actually want them to go. Then, if and when the players go off track, throw one of those encounters down in front of them, wherever they've decided they want to go.
If you plan your encounters in specific locations, you'll end up spending six times as long preparing for encounters that never happen. It can be a lot of fun to plan out a whole world like that, but you have to understand your players will probably only experience about 1% of your work in the course of the game.

So I had a great idea I wanted to bounce off you guys. So I live in the west US where there are quite a few native american reservations, and i was thinking....
Im going to do the voodoo zombie senario, and instead of having good voodoo people to give the players protective talismans and such. i was thinking using native shamans to fill that roll. I could do quite a bit with it.

    what do you guys think?

    MIND BLOWN!!!

Um this is a great idea! I have never thought of it this way and I think you are dead on. I normally play on the kitchen table, so sometimes it takes until turn 3 before anybody is in range of anybody (I like high point games on big tables) but even on a smaller table I think it would be best not to flip at the start because you wont have a whole lot of room to manuver in before you run into the edge of the table and limit your options. I think that if you can put yourself some distance from the edge then flip around and keep the targets in your rear arc that this would do just fine.

I know what list Im gonna run next time I play!

This is very unlikely to happen. Ships with 3-4 HP with high agility would simply be totally useless. Vader with Focus/TL would oneshot one ship guaranteed. Sorry that makes no sense to me. Soontir, Phantoms, all totally unplayable suddenly.

Plano 1374, holds a butt ton of stuff and can fit the epic ships with plenty of room to spare in the top part.

OR you could fix the person using said hammer. If you dont hammer in that nail at the right angle its just going to bend. Dont blame the hammer for user error.

I dont see a problem with any of these ships. Sure I dont play competitively but on the kitchen table they do just fine.
