Very true, i have spent more money than i care to count on warhammer. Armada should turn out cheaper. With warhammer you spend $30-$50 on a box of ten guys, and when you need hjndreds of models....

    1) I'm waiting FFG to see this and delete the thread... but if that's why you posed it late on Friday so the'd have nobody over the weekend at the office to do it, that's hilarious.

    2) Posting this without explaination, more pictures, and lingering approximately 1 hour to answer the inevitable questions you knew this would generate, sir, is an act of evil that rivals even the destruction of Alderaan.

Yeah, and the rule book supports this in some senarios, where you roll to see if the zombie bit the character. Just because a zombie deals stress to a character doesnt mean they they got bit. Maybe it wrenched their arm with a death grip, or caused them to trip and sprain their ankle (in which case there is more to worry about) etc.

Yes, but weapons give damage bonuses. And you could determine how much "hit points" to give the zombies. Right now, in my game, my zombies have just 2 stress tiers, so its 6 hp. With guns, they usually go down after just 2 attacks. My platers are also new, but they are getting a hang of the system, so ill probably bump the zombies up to a full stress track- 9hp. Also, when the zombie attacks, it suffers its own uncancelled stress, so that helps.
I really like the system alot.

i like it, but i do have a question on your critical failures. what do you do if somebody rolls a successful positive(s) but two uncancelled negatives?

I was going to argue against this, but after writing the below paragraph I realized my argument was for the above statement instead of against it. I guess I never viewed it that way....

WIth only 10 points to spend while building your character, your going to be left with several stats in the "1" or "2" spot, so you will likely fail most of those tests. Even then "3"s arent very reliable when it comes to successes. Yeah its a 50% chance per dice rolled, but still. When we played my wife made a roll attacking a zombie with 4 or 5 positive dice, and a few negative. All the positives were 4s, 5s and 6s, and her dex was 2, so she would have failed regardless of whatever negative dice she rolled. By creating a in game "representation" of her abilities the game limited her on her personal skill, thus making it harder for her.

Not saying that this is bad. I like it.

We started at a friends house for tues night magic, then heard some gun shots and got attacked by zombies. The group then separated, kinda, to get to our families houses. But everyone's families live within 2-4 blocks of each other. 1 pair had to fight two possessed with their bare hands, two brothers went home to find their mom murdered and dad bleeding out from a bite wound when fighting off a possessed, and their siblings were kidnapped by the attackers. They duct taped their dad's arms and legs and brought him with them. And the other guy went to his house to find his dad's guns, the house was black, and he could hear the dog barking. He barely opens the door and the dog sticks its face in the opening and continues to snarl. He shot it, then heard his brother scream, turns out the dog was innocent. The brother was in shock from watching his parents become possessed and killing the neighbors. So he leaves a gun with his brother and leaves his brother behind(what!?) and rejoins the group.

We all joined up at my mom's house for a bit of respite. and ended there.

Well I see negative dice as adding difficulty, they do cancel out potential successful positives, but Im coming to understand what else we can do with the system, such as the above multiple successes without at negative dice.

I think stress can be even more than the above. Think about the situation as a whole. If you are running through a house shooting at zombies, and you suffer stress from a roll. It could mean that as you were running through a doorway you hit your shoulder on the doorpost. I do this sometimes walking through my house, let alone if i was worried about death by zombie

I would like to track individual bullets, but it seems like it would take alot of work....It does help magnify the survival element a la Resident Evil 4 style (oh man I love that game, you have to conserve your ammo or you will die)

Your players may only start with one or to mags, but what happens after the first few sessions when they raid a sporting good store and grab hundreds of rounds/mags/guns?
I can see tracking each bullet at the beginning and after a few sessions when they have enough of a stock pile, keep track of "cases" of ammo very loosely...
I would just like a easy system to keep track of it all.

Talking with a buddy about this last night. I think as a gm this is what i'll do.
Instead of tracking each individual bullet ill give the players the option for sinlge fire, burst, or "oh crap, unload the mag!" As gm after a X number of rounds i'll say that based on how they have been shooting if they have to reload or not. Based on the situation reloading could be a roll.

Well, for me, ive spent time in the US Marines, and with semi auyo guns each "engagement" with a target it 2 shots to the chest 1 to the head. So i would count each attack as 3 bullets.
But im going to give my players the option of pulling the trigger 3 more times and recieve +1 -1. Pistols usually only have 10ish to 16 ish bullets. So deciding to spend 6 bullets on a single target means they have to reload sooner, which is going to be an action.action.assault rifles have a capacity for around 30 bullets
With full auto...thats a bit harder. A burst could be anywhere between 5-20 bullets. And its much harder to aim so they would get a definate -1

So I had a great idea I wanted to bounce off you guys. So I live in the west US where there are quite a few native american reservations, and i was thinking....
Im going to do the voodoo zombie senario, and instead of having good voodoo people to give the players protective talismans and such. i was thinking using native shamans to fill that roll. I could do quite a bit with it.

You have to take into account how the dice rolls function. If you have a 1 in a given stat, you will be much less likely to have any successes vs a 2 or a 3, let alone a 4 or 5. So before dice start getting cancelled out, a 1 represents a 1/6th chance at success. Of course you have other modifiers that increase those odds through adding extra dice, but if your stat doesnt increase then on each dice you still only have 1/6.

    So I think:
1 is incompetence : your skills in this area are very much lacking. a 30 yr old computer wiz that lives in his mother's basement might have high logic but a 1 in charisma or empathy.

2 below average : you know a few things here, but not enough. I would think your average teenage gal who isnt physically active would have a vitality of 2.

3 average : not horrible, but not excellent either. Having any stat of 3 would be well rounded. Me, Ive been in the military before, but Im out of shape now. I'd say my dexterity is 3, if I started working out and such more often it could definately be a 4....

4 above average : you have a lot of ability in this area, but it could still be improved. maybe some guy that plays intensive sports like Football, or Real American Football (no insult to you rugby guys) would have a vitality or dexterity of 4

5 excellent : this isnt super human, but something that has been honed to near perfection. Like my computer wiz example for logic, or a navy seal/british royal marine/your choice of top dog military personel for dex or vit and a social worker/phychiatrist for your social stats...
