What arn't my new toys here?
Why are my new toys coming at different times?
Some people asked some questions, why aren't they in the official rules yet?
Why don't we know the structure of the unannounced, unplanned tournaments yet?

Yeah, we've seen nothing with constant red + surges, and we've seen no defensive  rerolls. To go straight to red, surges plus rerolls for a character who's lore doesn't really imply he's mega tough (like having an 80% robot body for example) just seems a little too extreme for me.
I can't see any instances it would be worth trying to kill him with that defence. It's a lot.of fire power required.

Rauhughes got a reaction from MandalorianMoose in Imperials - 799. AT-ST, Vader
    I've had success with;
    Vader
    Atst
    2 X speederbikes
    4 x stormtroopers

With everything basic, that leaves you 49 points for upgrades, but in reality Vader needs at least saber throw so 39 points.
People like to ignore the at-st, particularly ones sat at range. Therefore, I've found it most useful with the grenade launcher and rammed down peoples throats. The recent email from Alex confirming you can stomp and shoot on the same round makes this even better.

That leaves 24 points. I've been going with force push and 1 extra trooper. Sure, the troopers won't do much damage, but they will put out suppression. The bikes, at-st and vader will munch stuff, so this isn't such an issue.

Rapid reinforcements is your friend. You can guarantee your opponent will have more than 88 points out of the action for two rounds, and your 4 man objective grabbers can come into the holes your heavy hitters leave in the first two rounds.

It's not perfect, but it's a perfectly viable way of running the at-st and vader until veers pops up

Its not too hard to figure out Legion is going to be a cheaper game. I mean, we're fielding units of 1 - 7, not 3 - 30 like 40k. We're also setting a standard at 800 points per game when individual models/units compare similar to the old 40k points structures (10-15 points per model average). I'm estimating a full Legion army is probably going to run at about 20-25% of the cost of a 40k army.

And don't get me started on the source material costs for 40k. At least with FFG, you can just download the rules for free online. If you wanted, you could spend every single penny you invest in Legion on models. 40k, you're looking at £100 of source books just to get started in your 40k career.

At this point, I think the only thing more expensive than a 40k army is a house. Maybe a posh German car, but that ones gonna be close!

****, I sold up IN PREPARATION for this game. Once it drops, I think a lot of people will defect from a lot of systems to play this game. 1) its star wars, literally the biggest sci fi/fantasy franchise known to man and 2) based on the quality of games FFG has been producing, their phenomenal customer service team and the love and support (read EXPANSIONS!) they pour into every game, this looks to me to be the smash hit of next year and probably many years to come.
After clearing out my Sisters, Eldar and Guard I managed to raise £2,000 through eBay. Don't be afraid 40k defectors, you can get a decent return on your minis if you hold out for the right prices. The Mrs may have gobbled up all that money for the 'wedding fund' (read - shoes), but I now have free licence to purchase whatever the **** I want for this game when it drops. Does anyone else think four core sets might be obsessive?

EDIT: Really, I can't say the H word? I can say Lucifer's Domain, the land of Eternal Damnation, the underworld, the Otherworld and Haydes but I can't say the H word. Madness

Rauhughes reacted to 10355ts in Labyrinth of Ruin UK availability
Over the past three or four months I've managed to buy  a full set of Descent 2nd from various sellers. I had to go on Ebay for a few pieces but generally speaking the best prices I found were miniaturemarket.com, though I don't know what shipping from there to the UK might be. Doesn't look like they currently have labyrinth of ruin in stock but they do have dice packs and some other sets, and you can set up alerts to notify you when things come back in stock (I managed to snag Belthir for $8 that way). A few items did arrive with crushed packaging but the items themselves were all fine (with the exception of one warped set of threat tokens in one lieutenant pack).
As to healers, the bard can be really strong in the right party (for example, a bard running the stamina recovery songs can be an almost unstoppable beast paired with a prismatic assault conjurer -- with fatigue recovery on surges, you can often use Prismatic Assault every round and heal up to full stamina afterwards each time). If you can't change classes, change heroes: Augur Grishom from Trollfens is a suprisingly potent healer, especially if you put him in a party with a lot of defense stats (pairs well with Trenloe the Strong, Leoric of the Book).

Hero and monster packs I'd recommend are Crown of Destiny (mostly for Lindel), Crusade of the Forgotten ( for Andira Runehand and Astarra), Oath of the Outcast (for Trenloe the Strong and Elder Mok though he's a bit overpowered imho). I also really like running Ispher as a healer though the rest of his pack is lackluster.
One really neat build is to run Lindel as a monk/spiritspeaker, you can do a lot of neat things with him depending on what items you get (soulbound sword is very effective for example, as is cloak of deception, especially if you can get the relevant stat boosting items for him).

So essentially peril effects come into play if your overall time is to long? Or you've spent to many actions and haven't advanced far enough in the map? How does it tell where you are though? Based on what you've interacted with?

I think the question is referring to the staffs ability to convert range to damage Zaltyre, which isn't surge related.
My guess would be yes they can. Same way they could use reach if tenhero had such a weapon equipped. Essentially they're both just innate abilities of the weapons.

Here's a couple of links: For the UK. For the US. Both are a lot more reasonable than $80.
Also there are Descent dice apps available. Descent Dice Companion and Dicent. I personally use the second one.

I'd be very curious to see an official answer here as well. My understanding of the "may use" abilities while being charmed revolved mainly on not forcing the hero to exhaust/spend anything. That is, if you're using a hero to attack himself, the hero may still choose whether or not to use his shield.
As far as non-surge weapon abilities, though, I'm skeptical. Just about EVERY "non-surge" weapon ability is a "may", even Reach (you may attack targets up to 2 spaces away). Are you suggesting a dark charmed hero could say, "nah, you can't use my weapon's reach." ?
