They also said this before COVID ravaged the world, before Asmodee’s holding company starting slicing and dicing its assets, and before a huge amount of talent left and / or was laid of from FFG. The beginning of 2020 feels like a million years ago. Who knows what the future holds.

This announcement has nothing to do with IA. IA is categorized as a board and card game on FFG’s own Products page. If you click on miniatures games category, IA does not appear.

As I recall, Steve Horvath did say (in the "tale of IA is not done" interview) that they were viewing FFG as two separate companies: a miniatures company and a board game company.  When asked if IA was mini or board game he didn't hesitate to say board game.  Given how long the process of splitting a company this way takes, he very likely knew that this was the goal when he did that interview.

Imperial Assault is not done, it's a boardgame.

If you go to FFG's actual product page where it's sorted by category, if you click on Board and Card Games, you will find Imperial Assault, whereas if you click on miniatures games, the only Star Wars games you see are Xwing, Armada and Legion.

    THE IMPERIAL RULE
When resolving activation instructions, players frequently have
multiple options that satisfy the instructions. When this happens,
players should follow the Imperial rule, which means always
choosing the option that is most punishing for the players.

dwaynedauzat reacted to General_Grievous in FFG: We need an Imperial Assault Delve Mode Please
Having recently picked up Descent while I await more Imperial Assault app support, I’ll say that we could pretty easily incorporate the Delve mode into Imperial Assault as either a raid on an Imperial base that is randomly generated each time, or else a trial where you are fighting in an arena against different enemies similar to the existing raid mode and perhaps mimicking the arena fights in Jedi Fallen Order.

This would tide us over until you wake up and give us Endor, Mandalorian, Rogue One, and Clone Wars big boxes.

    Hi !
Legend of the alliance is wonderfull, the only big problem is that they is only 3 short campaigns.
Is there any hope that FFG US will ever :
    1/ create new campaigns ?
2/ implement the "paper" campaign sell with the 7 boxes in the app ?
    3/ make a "Fan creator campaign" ?
    (pls ffg, reply yes-yes-yes)
The whole world is waiting for FFG US to make a move !

My core arrived this past Thursday.  Probably not smart getting into a game is complete stage but I never claimed to be smart haha.  Looking into this game recently and realized finally what it has to offer.
So, completed the tutorial yesterday was fun, lot of app reading and getting excited to get campaign going.
Today, played first mission, don’t want to spoil anything, but first part was cool, second part was tense and someone showed up that was way too tough, very enjoyable first chapter.  Charging my tablet, so I can jump on chapter 2.  Can’t wait till my expansions show up!

The thing is, there is just SO much that could still be done.  And not just new figures either, (plenty of those and I'm sure we could all list which ones we want most).  Also a lot that could be done with:
    1. Game Mechanics?  Always thought some kind of vehicle or beast that small figures could "ride" would be cool tactically.
    2. Tile environments:  Lava?  Quicksand?  etc.
    3. Mixing of expansions...
    4. More app campaigns...
    5. Printing of new fixes for skirmish cards (hopefully using IACP fixes)
    6. etc.
But who knows, we'll probably just get some minor stuff...  I'm just happy there is something else coming...

That all sounds great.  Just really anything new would be fun.  Anything.  If it had ewoks (my kids would go nuts!) that would be bonus, but just anything new...  Heck, even some dumb Gungans with a horde of porgs!  I'd still be happy.  A big, weird milkable sea cow?  Fine, whatever.

I’m one of those people that got into the game late (Christmas gift from my wife a few months ago.) I was bummed at the rumors of it being discontinued because I eventually want to add to my collection. I was also worried for the app to go away or not be supported any longer. I’m glad that FFG put out a video addressing this game because it’s honestly one of the funnest games I’ve played.

Hoping for a couple more app campaigns! And maybe some Endor or Rogue One expansion action!

The key issue with X-Wing 1st edition was the power creep - it got pretty extreme.
Imperial Assault started to do the same, but where this game is different lies in it's core strength:
There are multiple ways to play!
X-Wing was one game with really only one way to play - I made some 'campaign' style things, there are some linked encounters from the 1st edition boxes - overall, X-Wing was a tabletop miniature wargame.
IA has class and sophistication. It has a true Campaign mode, it has tabletop elements where the board could literally change withing 15 minutes (if your tiles are organised otherwise 30 minutes), it has a strong tourny scene for those so inclined.
I think Imperial Assault is almost THE game - the core set has everything for providing more hours of game play than any console game can match.
There's a part of me that thinks they got too close to getting it right and it scared them off.
People are screaming "Endor! Endor!", for my money it's "Zuckass! 4-LOM!Nar Shadaa!". A campaign on Nar Shadaa could easily be that campaign with the Imperial 'hero' with a couple of bounty hunters breaking a spice smuggling ring - we could get a better generic or named Imperial Officer, generic Hut gangsters, generic bounty hunters, Ghand Hunters... too much source material here for it to be left alone.
There are stories yet to be told...

I don't think we are going to see Endor or Rogue One. Those are done properties. I can see Disney telling FFG to go all in on Mandolarian to give Disney + a boost. It doesn't have to make money if it is nothing more than advertisement for a streaming service.
