I helped a guy out last night with some cards...very enjoyable to help out a new player get some key commons/uncommons to make their deck better. I have a brick of the commons that are not doing me any good, so why not use them to help out those that are waiting for boosters to arrive (someday)? Build the community as best you can;that will keep folks that are getting frustrated with the delays from bailing out, IMO.

Ok cool. I stepped into a room full of flesh molders and they immediately started thrashing on my cleric.

And this is why despite everyone singing the praises of the Treasure Hunter (a strong class no doubt) Thief is one of the best co-op classes hands down!

Yeah, probably should have done that. The only downside of waiting would have been to wake up a master barghest, but they aren't that bad. Now my knight and cleric are hanging on by a thread....too much fun!

If I could like that twice, I would. I have been saved numerous times by waiting to open a door until I can do it with my first hero. Sometimes, it's because a ticking clock would have started too early (a fate is much preferable to a doom.) Sometimes, it's because the room is one which prevents damage and fatigue recovery (resting is very important). Sometimes, it's for the reason Charmy said- so the monsters don't get a double activation to rough up whoever was stupid enough to open the door.

It can get even worse than this. A lot of exploration cards state after setup of the room that the monsters in the room activate immediately. If the door opening occurs as the last action of the heroes' turn for one of those rooms, then the monsters will get to activate twice in a row before the heroes can do anything.

This can often result in dead heroes.

Whenever possible try to open a door as one of the first things the heroes do on their turn, even if it might mean drawing a Fate card.

Nope, the OL immediately gets its turn. The co-ops can be very cruel.

I have been tinkering with an Erestor deck based off the deck Matthew provided in the release article for Treachery of Rhudaur.

Hero 1x Erestor 1x Éowyn 1x Legolas   Ally 3x Dúnedain Hunter 3x Arwen Undómiel 3x Elven Jeweler 3x Watcher of the Bruinen 3x Trollshaw Scout 3x Wandering Ent 3x Gléowine 3x Master of the Forge   Attachment 3x A Burning Brand 3x Blade of Gondolin 3x Elven Spear 3x Lembas 3x Light of Valinor 3x Protector of Lórien 3x Silver Harp 3x Steed of Imladris 3x Unexpected Courage   Event 3x A Test of Will 3x Daeron's Runes 3x Elrond's Counsel 3x Feint 3x Will of the West   Strategy: The deck is built around trying to get cards in play that make use of discarding cards from your hand. Because of that, card draw is a premium; I often find that I don't have enough cards in my hand for all the pitch-n-pump effects available. Additionally, because it is a tri-sphere deck with no resource acceleration, the card costs are low so that they can be played the turn they are drawn. The ideal starting hand is Protector of Lorien (Erestor), Steed of Imladris (Eowyn)/Light of Valinor (Erestor), Elven Spear/Blade of Gondolin(Legolas). Once you have those 'staples' in play, along with some consistent card draw from Gleowine or Master of the Forge, you can really control the flow of the game.    I haven't played a ton of test games, but it is 2-0 solo against Wastes of Eriador, and it beat Treachery of Rhudar on the first try, with my buddy Grand Spleen playing a Brand-Merry-Elrond combat deck.   I would dig some feedback and ideas to improve it; Elves have always been my favorite archetype in any game!

This topic always cracks me up. I can see the BoD at FFG sitting in a meeting room going "so we have LotR LCG; selling great, awesome story line with great name/brand recognition the world around. Let's dump this turd." You sell something until you don't make money selling it anymore. Apple will keep making iPhones, Microsoft will keep churning out Windows....FFG will keep doing LotR until it either a) stops making money, or b) they run out of good content to work with. So, lets talk about B...

The Saga boxes obviously follow The Hobbit and LotR Trilogy. Very well defined and they will definitely have a finish line to them. The cycles exist in this somewhat nebulous period of time between The Hobbit and Fellowship of the Ring, about 60 years I believe. They can roll around in that for a long time. That being said, I wish that FFG would be putting the full court press on the Tolkein family to get a license for all the First and Second Age content. They could easily pump out a couple more Saga expansions surrounding the Silmarillion, Children of Hurin, etc.
