The Ettin can only throw heroes adjacent to him, it says so in the description of the throw ability of the card.
Fair enough... I guess the thought was that when a "reach" is involved with some sort of move, that 'adjacent' is now 2 spaces away. Seems obvious when stated plainly that it is not.

A simple one here... we ran into this situation recently, so I thought I'd ask.
Can an Ettin reach through two enemy heroes and grab a third hero 2 spaces away and then throw him? (Picture everyone in a line down a 2-square wide hallway). If so, essentially, the ettin can then take someone who's being "human shielded" and then throw him behind himself so that then it is HE that is standing in between the heroes and the other guy. (A good way to deal with a turtling Sir Palamon it seems). But, only if it's legal.
There's no specific reference to LOS with the Reach ability, and I realize you can reach around corners to pull it off. But, normally movement is blocked through squares occupied by enemies, etc. etc.
So what's the ruling..?

Okay... I know this topic has been dormant for years, but I figured since I've got some questions, I'd add them here just to make them easier to find via searching. They relate to Castle Daeron, that we played last night.
1. The rules say that Sir Palamon can not "recover hearts by any means". But yet, what about the ancillary benefits of Avric's "Prayer of Healing"... Namely, can he get the additional brown defense die? In our group, the OL said "no"

2. The results of the first encounter dictated that any rescued villager becomes a militia token instantly placed to start encounter 2. However, it also says that Palamon makes a skill check to see if a militia is placed at the end of the hero turn. It is not specified if this second act is dependent on a maximum limit set by the number of villagers rescued (ie, none if you didn't get any), or if they are extra as part of a separate act. Again, the OL said "no".

We play with three heroes.
It's really tough to get through the Shadow Dragon when he's lined up blocking all corridor traffic with the healing flesh moulder behind him tossing 2x heals to the front. At a minimum, all they need to do is stall so that Eliza escapes through all the doors. The spiders help that too. Each time it hasn't even been close, even with the reward from the first encounter, etc.
It might be slightly less impossible if the quest isn't the first one done after the Introduction (and before shopping), but the OL won that one ;-)
And, as far as the make-up goes, we're currently running a campaign with Jain, Avric, and the Widow Tahra.

...In that case, it is 100% impossible for the heroes to win the Masquerade Ball encounter when the OL brings the Shadow Dragon and the Flesh Moulders, unless there's some seriously unbalanced rolls. :-)
[... or so it was against my 11-year old daughter ...]

I know I'm late to the party with this one, but I still have a question nonetheless...
The way I was reading it, the heroic feat implied to me that the attack can target any 2 enemies within line of sight (as in, range is not a factor here). Similar to the Dominion ability that Baron Zachareth has ... is that right?
Also, with her normal unique heroic ability... Can she use this to re-roll an attack conducted by her re-animate?
Range is still a factor, it doesn't say to ignore range or anything of the sort.
No, she cannot re-roll attacks by her reanimate, only her own attacks.
I felt the question was worthy for two reasons:
(1) It doesn't say to ignore range or anything of the sort on Zachareth's "Dominion" ability (even though I understand that it's not technically an attack), and
(2) It is more logical to me, since every character in range is in line of sight but not every character that is in light of sight is in range, that the card would have been worded differently to account for the need to attack within range moreso than line of sight. After all, what would be the point of specifying "line of sight" when Tahra could well be weilding a mele weapon.
Thank you for your answers. :-)

So, I tried searching for the answers here (and on the FAQ), but I couldn't find them... So I figured just titling this post as such might help future searchers instead of having them read many other threads with less specific titles on a wing and a prayer.
Anyway...
So with the Flesh Moulders, the master monster has the "--> Heal" ability.
Quick to the point-- can this master monster simply spend his turn using this ability twice?
I notice in the rules that the heroes can do "-->" actions more than once, and also it says the actions performed by the monsters are "similar to the hero actions" (with the exception that only one action can be an attack action). This is not an attack action... so can it be used twice?
And, as a digression, does this mean that Baron Zachareth can only attack once, despite him having his normal attack, and the separate "--> Shadow Bolt" ability? If so, bummer. He and Gryvorn (who attacks with a lesser strength than a normal Shadow Dragon) aren't as tough as I had to play them in Gryvorn Unleashed. ;;-)

So, a quick, perhaps silly question... But one where I haven't found an answer yet. (perhaps because it's silly).
Can the Widow Tahra (for example) equip her familiar?
...Perhaps with a ranged weapon, if you get my drift...
I didn't see this being prevented in the section explaining when familiars are treated as figures. I can obviously see plenty of ways why a familiar isn't proficient at using any weapon, much less a ranged weapon, but it does represent a potential element of strategy. Armor perhaps?

Hello all.
Got Runewars and the Expansion, and have been playing. Long games, and a high potential for Analysis-Paralysis with all the options on the table. But, it allows for non-linear gameplay that can afford simultaneously persuable routes to victory.
At first, we get all bogged down having to re-read the rules for little minutae, just to be clear because otherwise someone else might get a raw deal.
1. The Instructions on the main game says "5 per faction" when it comes to development tokens. If this is done by color (and it appears it could be said as such), then it could be argued that some factions do not get to use certain development tokens. (For example, the purple Waiqar therefore not being able to use the +influence chits). I'm trying to reconcile the words indicating there are 5 per faction, and there being 5 per faction in color, but not all factions getting all the types indicated. [this is aside from the specific development reserved for each faction].
2. I'm blanking on this as to whether it appeared in the rules like this... but are cities only destroyable through the cards? I recall some things are destroyable if there are 6+ units in a hex at a given time.
I might have others, but figured I'd toss these out there first :-)
Thanks---

I'm currently running with Avric and Widow Tahra, but perhaps any combo of the classes can do.
Anyway... so what do you think about this?
So this means that Tahra has 5 Stamina, and during her turn the re-animate can attack everyone within line of sight (ignoring range), with a Red + Blue + Yellow + Yellow.... and then if there happens to be kills, she recovers a fatigue for each enemy that gets killed. Easy reload.
[and then, depending on how the official reading is with action abilities that don't have the "exhaust this card to perform..." wording, it's possible that Tahra can do this twice in her turn, as it's technically not her re-animate's move.]
