  1. Downside of this useful fligh assit astromech is that there is only 1 in the shatipede expansion, who is going to get 3-4 of them to be able to play 3-4 xwings or t70? Since having such amount of shatipedes is useless.

It should have bring 2 copies or lets see if FFG decides to include it in further expansions.

  2. This weekend I attended Spanish Nationals, and some weeks ago I attended Asturias regional.

I saw Kotei (leyend 5 rings) was played at the same time xwing Nationals and I still surprised how they gave a lot of prizes even just for participating, game maths, counters, lot of cards, dials, etc much more things than in xwing championships.

Is there a reason for this? because participation dropped from 450 players expected to final 180 more or less, and people was saying they were happier playing Kotei rather than xwing National because of prizes.

After 4 years playing xwing I am not able to understand why top32 gets NOTHING, finalist gets NOTHING and players not making to the top just get one single card. Championship participation ticket is getting more and more expensive each year but prizes are still the same and people is very dissapointed.

I know there is a trip payed in Open and Nationals, but official requirement is 64 players participating so I do not see this an explanation for 150-250 participants.

It's nothing to do with "someone on FFG staff not liking something", and certainly nothing to do with "punishment to one of the greatest game communities".  Which - if you read the officiall statement - you should be able to understand.

I'm sure it's very disappointing, but there's no indication of any kind of prejudice against the Spanish gaming community.  As Alex says, with only 6 European System Opens available and other countries deserving the opportunity to host one, difficult decisions sometimes need to be made.

I do not understand why other counteries having much less attendance to such events are still having an Open series tournament scheduled. Just that. Most of Spanish players are not going to travel anywere as far as I have been hearing around.

No, clearly they don't.  It's so much easier to pitch up the pitchforks and burning torches than it is to actually learn the relevant facts.

Just to remind you about this, now you can go and check there is no Spain Open this year. I think because someone on FFG staff did not liked something in the last one. Punishment to one of the greatest game communities. Thank you FFG.

  5. Thank you for the clarification.

Honestly I dislike this new format because in the end, tournament would cost 60$ as you explained unless you have the luck to make it to stage 3.

And do not forget to add other costs like flight, acomodation... for sure it does not help too much to motivate people attending to Open tournaments.

In other level... it boost competitivity since now we will have money behind "each" match result. So I think it is not good decision to involve money in having fun playing xwing.

At first sight it looks a very bad decision from FFG, but we will see. As soon as I let this know to my playmates I started hearing opinions about attending or not to Open series (mostly negative opinions, just to clarify).

In fact, looking at the prize lists, you could lose all 11 of these games and still come away from the weekend with:

    • Dual sided Millennium Falcon/Slave One title card
    • System Open Series 2018 Damage Deck
    • Dual sided Lothal Rebel/Baron of the Empire Aurebesh card
    • Dual sided Resistance Sympathiser/Mandalorian Mercenary Aurebesh card
    • a pair of System Open 2018 Target Lock tokensp
    • Alt art cards for Boba Fett, Bossk, IG-88B and Dengar

I do not know where you read all that because what I read here:

    https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2017/11/13/claim-your-bounty/

    Says that participants will get:

    - a double-sided upgrade card that features the Millennium Falcon on one side and Slave I on the other.

    - a copy of The Force Awakens™ Core Set damage deck, themed with a custom Boba Fett card back.

Participating other tournaments I am not sure if will be no cost for the participants.

  7. Wait and see... nothing.

But apart from that we are also complaining about the new format of the open and how 3 rounds can be the most you play after having huge expenses to attend.

Also I heard alternative tournaments for eliminated players may cost additional money to the player, I am not sure about this, is just a rumour, but I am here asking about it to get more information and find some answers.

    Thank you for helping.

the people that say its dying are the idiots thinking its getting "too complex" or strictly only want the vanilla ships in the game (which is what 8 ships period?).

Looking at my FLGS, its not dead. We have space for ideally 36 people to play at once (very cramped but we can do it), and the last few xwing nights have been having like 8 games going on at once, usually with an odd number guy being the unfortunate one to not get the 9th game.

I havnt even seen 40k have that kind of popularity around here, before or now. The most 40k people ive seen at once was 10 in this area, the most xwing ive seen was 26.

I think you should have to be more respectful regarding other opinions, not everybody think like you do, and that is not a reason to be unpolite and disrespectful.

Beyond this I was trying to see what others think to change my mind about how the game evolved, but i think you cannot deny game is getting easier and easier(just the opposite you said), because those pasive cards and pilot skills are giving tons of actions or in the end advantage in comparison with generic pilots. Only just a few persons are still  flying generic pilots squads, is already prooved that combos with upgrades ais much more efficient in competitive play.

I think upgrades and pilots and also some of the rules, indeed some that changed over the game life until nowadays are making player decisions less relevant.

I think new mechanics in wave12 will bring some more player decisions and will take a bit up the game, but for now, I can say biggest  xwing forum in Spain had several new players each day, but now it does not, indeed you can see several players selling their xwing collection and this is getting more and more usual.

I agree with " really do miss the good old days when how you flew was more important than what you flew" beause new players only have to copy a squad (maybe not all the squads work this way but some of the tier1 do) and roll dice better than your opponen, moving well is now secondary. 360º firing arcs and things like expertise or k4 security droid, as well as some pilot skills are killing the game for me.

-Ey you bumped so you have no actions

-aaah yes but I get TL from K4 and I am turning all focus to hits because of expertise, so... you are dead

    -Ah nice, well "played"

Things like stress other ships, most of the time is harder than equipp those kind of cards. If I would like to stress your expertise ship, i have to be in arc and range2, or I have to get an stress as well... WHY? why do i have to stress myself while you get focus every attack for free? from my point of view this is not balance. Expertise has no counterpart, but other upgrades to counter it has their counterparts so breaking the meta is not always easy, the easy way is to copy a squad and roll better, as I said.

  10. From some time ago to now I have been heaing about the game is not balanced anymore and is getting borring because overpowered pasive cards, getting too luck dependant and having less impact player decisions.

Now  one more step from hearing things i started to read explicit comments disqualifying the game.

    Yup!

And it is really fun to fly.

Pure Sabacc + Lightweight Frame + Veteran Instincts
Quickdraw + Adaptability + Fire-Control System + Special Ops Training + Lightweight Frame
    Colonel Vessery + TIE/D + Ion Cannon + Expertise
    (100)

I was playing something quite similar:

Pure Sabacc + Lightweight Frame + Veteran Instincts
Quickdraw + swarm tactics + Fire-Control System + Special Ops Training + Lightweight Frame
    Colonel Vessery + TIE/D + Tractor beam + Expertise
    (100)

They point was to take the most of the tractor beam.

The downside is I cannot equip twin ion engines on Vessery.

  13. Sorry if this is not the place for those questions.

Yes the idea is to discuss and see what the comunity think about all this.

Main question is the MoV for small ships.

About 2nd question, you are right, is exactly what I mean, boosting and barrell rolling is too powerful on PS8,9+ in fact too good on large ships. Having an error on calculate where a barrell roll or a boost is going to end could give a penalty and make the player think more about it before trying. I think game has enough randomness and giving player responsability and choices affecting the game resolution is good.

White koigran is most of the time unblockable since they fly over you when you are facing each other, so rest of the ships are with no actions but those ones with "white koigran" are ships having 2 actions or more dice on offense and defense with reroll... something brutal IMHO.

  14. Hi,

I just want to propose something to see what the comunity think about it, two questions indeed:

    1) Scoring (small ships giving 40-50 points MoV)

So FAQ on large ship scoring was needed since those kind of squads with just 2 ships had very abusive MoV because large ships are hard to kill and they can equip a lot of combos to survive, but here is my question, what is the difference with small ships of 40-50 points that can regenerate shields (Miranda, Poe, Corran or Norra for instance) or are almost untouchable as soontir (in the past) or defenders that are very hard to kill because of the evade action and 3 defense, and 3 shields and 3 hull.

Why those expensive ships do not give half scoring when half  damaged? Soon wave11 would bring more dicussion on this.

I think this could be the way to stop people to taking the most of the scoring system and have somethhing more balanced, and as well see more generic pilots in tournaments.

    2) Repositioning (Free superiority on maneuver)

At this point I would even say boost and tonel is enough useful to no allow players to correct an overlapping, lets give more decisions to the player, more responsability on a bad or good choice instead of let him correct an error when a boost ends over an asteroid. This game is random enough to allow that kind of things. Repositioning is on high PS pilots a very powerful tool, lets give it a counterpart.

I would even say that white koigrans for Rey with Finn and Kannan is overpowered, as well as the x7 title with the white koigran on the TIE Defender, it gives a lot of advantage.

What do you thing about all this?

  15. Other good solution IMHO, is to make X7 title unique.

I like the idea of a title for xwing...  a dual card like Uwing:

-Wings in attack to get an attack dice or a mini-focus.

-And not attack mode to get more green maneuvers in the dial or a free evade.

  16. *Regarding upgrades/pilots:

TIE/x7 --> not evading while stressed or bumped

    manaroo, palpatine --> range restriction

Improve not unique pilots by using some kind of squad cards specifying specific ship builds to get a bonus (a lot of generic pilots are useless like Ewing, StarViper, kihraxz, etc)

*Make players to take harder decisions by:

Not allow players to measure combat range before declaring the target

Allow barrel roll and boost over obstacles or off the board
