  1. If your defense pool is empty (no dice to roll) your defense results from the roll are always going to be "0". Aria of War allows heroes (and figures treated as heroes) to add 1 to the defense results. 0+1 is of course, 1. Therefore, the dice pool is irrelevant. You just add 1 to whatever the results are, even if those results are 0.
  2. Changing? For sure. Dying? Not necessarily. The observation that the majority of their games have community activity on other platforms may just be fact. However, in the context of the other shifts which have been going on since the Asmodee merger, it does raise the question of what FFG is changing into.
  3. You don't have to find another one necessarily. I'd say either find another one or consider making them identical (or a fixed "...add 2 shields...") I'd find it hard to justify that for mage Ravaella blank= +1, while for Hugo, blank = +4 (both native black die heroes). I put a chart below to illustrate the results probability for a single black die with no modifier, and with +1, +2, or +4 ("your choice") on a blank result.
  4. You guys have your own test system going, but I can't help but notice there is a an ability quite similar (though a bit weaker) to this version of Hugo on Ravaella Lightfoot: His heroic feat could be worded a bit more explicitly: The above clarifies when the doubling happens. If the intent is to double ALL wound on the attack, it would be: "Use at the start of your turn. This turn, before dealing damage for an attack, double the (wound) results."
  5. Yeah, I'd agree. Usually, the intent is to allow spawns in closest empty space, but you're correct: there are no close empty spaces. You can't count through doors, and allowing spawning on far sides of doors could break a fair number of quests.
  6. I guess I assumed that empos was terrinoth's equivalent of a red panda. I haven't been able to locate a meaning of that word as far as animals on earth.
  7. Several of the minis can be found if you can get your hands on a copy of Runewars (revised edition or earlier). Bogran, Varikas, Red Scorpion, and Carthos are in the base game, Landrec is in Banners of war. I think most (if not all) of them are in Runebound 2nd edition. These games are out of print and not the easiest to find.
  8. Ha, you would cumulate effects ? I think that the game was not ready for those situations, but the Bearded axe power would, for me, work only if attacking with it only. So, in this case, having him 2 handed weapon in each hands has no problem at all. Confirmed. Skirmisher would only get to use the Bearded Axe's"If, after resolving Pierce" ability when attacking WITH the Bearded Axe. Likewise, only if defeating a monster WITH the Guardian Axe. Neither of these abilities is passive (just for having the weapon equipped) and more than that, neither is a surge ability, so would not even get shared with Dual Strike skill.
  9. The scourge can hit hard, but it's only melee. The fatigue ability can be tricky, but heroes generally can play around it. The soulbinder class is indeed a powerful OL tool, and Mists/Chains are campaigns which don't pull any punches for the heroes. Using the soulbinder during a Mists/Chains campaign will demand a lot of the heroes, for sure. I don't think I'd call it broken, for the most part.
  10. I think with some tweaking, this could be a neat mechanic. If you wanted, you could adjust the mechanic to work within existing token frameworks. For example, instead of "despair", heroes could gain fortune and OL could gain threat. If additional effects of the tokens are desired, they can be added. However, totally up to you (of course) how you want to implement it.
  11. If Legends fails and the development/printing costs don't pay off, that will be a signal they've lost touch with a gamer base and should adapt their marketing strategy accordingly. Except for the price of the content and a few aesthetic decisions, Legends seems very well aimed at the group which has been consuming RtL (which by my understanding has been a gigantic driver of sales for D2e in the last few years). If you watched these forums when RtL was debuting, all anyone talked about was converting existing campaigns to solo/app compatibility and searching for ways to make Descent solo playable in general. Legends (to me) appears to take those prayers and answer them, though now most of the vocal commentary seems to be "app required? No thanks!" It's neither here nor there from my perspective, as RtL (while a nicely designed product) and Legends by extension, completely miss what I personally find engaging about Descent, the 1 vs. many dynamic.
  12. Not in a million years. If we like what we see, we buy their products- that's how game publishing works, right? "It's too risky" is not an excuse to pass development costs to the shoulders of the consumer on the front end, that's what a price tag is for. Game companies like ANA shouldn't need to rely on crowdfunding to support their projects-it's a model much better suited to independent developers who don't have infrastructure in place to deal with overhead. If companies like ANA need to resort to it, I take that as a sign their strategy is already failing.
  13. Yeah, interrupting an attack WITH an attack is pretty strange. However, it seems that moving the monster with the surge ability presents a valid trigger for both Nimble and Guard. Please give me a moment to do some searching, however, as I seem to recall there being precedent about "moving" vs. "being moved". Both are entering spaces, but there was something...
  14. 6-3-1. You sure we don't need a recount? 😉 They're essentially fan-made content at this point, so it makes sense to design them in the way that satisfies the most fans (regardless of what any FFG plans may or may not have been if any such plans ever existed). I guess we'll never know.
  15. I voted to change them. I think Kirga fits the mage archetype quite well, especially if you imagine her as a truthseer. Likewise, (as far as current warriors) Hugo is a good fit for crusader. Is he really any less a healer than Andira Runehand, or Avric Albright?
  16. Q1: Rugal is correct, but to add clarification to your specific situation: in the image you posted, the Merriod is 2 spaces from Grisban, and 3 spaces from Ashrian. He can trace LOS on either green line drawn, but only has "reach" range on Grisban. Ashrian is too far away, even for a melee attack. Q2: "The boulder blocks movement (blue objective token). Each time Rolok is targeted by an attack and the figure that performed the attack traces line of sight through the boulder or 1 or more spaces adjacent to the boulder, Rolok rolls 1 additional black defense die." In the image you posted, LOS is essentially a point, traced from one of the front corners of Ashrian's space to the same corner of that space of Rolok's (either the green "line" or the blue one). Either way, that LOS is through a space adjacent to the boulder.
  17. So... someone other than Asmodee North America should make it?
  18. Yeah, it's not amazing otherwise- just pointing out it might be a way for OP to help get an Infector build to work well. Off topic, my group never liked plot decks because they seemed a bit too powerful- so Bol'goreth is kind of the perfect "minimal" plot deck (unless you're playing infector).
  19. Loving the Infector discussion, popping in with another synergy which might sound obvious- the Bol'Goreth plot deck Raging Infection is pretty great with Infector. It really adds opportunities to Poison and Disease heroes, and that works really well with Adaptive Contagion.
  20. No, he is wrong. See the box titled, "Knocked out heroes" on the top right of rulebook page 15. It says, Note the following key points: "...hero players may ONLY target a KO hero with an ability that would allow the KO hero to recover damage..." "...For this exception, the knocked out hero’s hero token is treated as a hero..." Unless you're healing damage on that KO hero, it's just a token, not a hero.
  21. 3b is correct, for the reasoning you guessed. Hero tokens aren't heroes UNLESS you're considering them heroes for the purpose of an ability which would heal them. For example, the disciple's "Prayer of Healing" could target a hero token. When a hero is knocked out, he's not on the map (his hero token is). Therefore, any abilities which depend on range from his figure don't apply (again, with the exception of abilities which would heal the hero token).
  22. Yes, they are. If you check out the section on servants in either the Manor of Ravens or Chains that Rust rulebooks, you'll find, "treated as a minion monster" specifies the figure classification, as minion monsters are also figures. Specifically, since they're monster figures, monsters can move through (but not end movement in) a servant space but heroes cannot.
