They really gave Luke's landspeeder quite the hood ornament.
And both vehicles ripped right out of the movies. 😂😂😂

I think it is more simple than people would like it to be:
The game never caught on - FFG handed out hundreds of copies during Adepticon, but almost no one was reviewing or writing about it.
Also, initial sales looked to be lacklustre, game was in stock everywhere and soon got deeply discounted in variety of online shops.
Expansions, hmm, they were simply too expensive for what they were. A lot of people talked about buying multiple cores and just proxying cards from expansions.
Small mistakes in productions choices - no color coded minis or bases and no art on upgrade cards, made the game look a bit too bland.
I assume that FFG quite quickly realised it is going nowhere, but didn't want to cancel it outright, especially as they were going to release Legion soon. So they simply spread the release schedule to give an illusion that game was alive for year longer than it actually was.

FFG's greed knows no bounds. Their products for many years had less and less content for obscenely growing prices. Look at KoW miniatures from Mantic Games - much smaller company, producing on much smaller scale, yet their prices are much lower.
Only FFG's biggest apologist can't see how greedy this company has become.
Runewars was doomed as soon as they introduced pretty average sculpts for a really high prices - especially Starter Set - you didn't even get enough dice and components to comfortably play 1v1 game with starter set. This is pure, unadultered greed. And it backfired on them - for once I am happy, maybe FFG will learn something from this.

On the positive side, FFG usually has nice Christmas clearance sales.

I think this is completely correct. I think the real issue was that there just wasn't enough demand for the game. And your point about FFG drawing it out to not have a failed tabletop game on their resume right before Legion dropped makes a lot of sense.
Who knows, if the Runewar's manufacturing standards and gameplay mechanics would have been skinned with Warhammer or Warcraft or D&D or Tolkien fluff, the game might have done quite well (not that FFG has the rights to any of those, but). Hard to say, but I've always felt a huge part of it was just that Terinoth is not really a captivating or popular IP, generally speaking.

And to no ones surprise, a game that FFG set up to fail from the start has failed.
We feel you over in the Battlelore community. We feel your pain.

Never took off at any local stores here and it didn't stick with my son so it's been gathering dust at my house. The wording of the article and how they refer to developing the game in the past tense don't sound good to me.
Also note they're contacting the Worlds winners to arrange new awards in place of helping design new cards for the game. It's over.

TX-225 GAVw Occupier Combat Assault Tank for the Imperials.

**** that base is long! And it seems like it will be able to do a free pivot before a standard move meaning it will be a lot more nimble than one might expect. And from what I understand it can carry Vader into battle. Even with only speed 1 it will move quite far based on its large base alone. Remains to see what the rules for transporting units will be like.
X-34 Landspeeder for the Rebels.

I like it! Very rebel in my opinion Shame they didn't spoil any of the weapon upgrades though. But I can see this as simply being a cheap way to slingshot Luke into combat with some poor enemy unit.

The bluest color I got off the original picture was #393655, the rest being darker or grayer blues.
The first picture here showed very dark blues like #071726. The lighting looks kind of bluish, and sampling off his black headband gave a dark purple.
The second picture was much more obviously blue #3c4c59.

It's a very dull and dark looking blue, but I'm pretty sure those props are all using blue stripes.

I guess this is new ground for FFG players but seriously don't stress. Nobody is counting the colours. The intention of the rule is literally just to ensure that armies are painted, based in some fashion and on the table. If you literally just sprayed them white, inked them and painted the base green the TO wouldn't have an issue at all. They just don't want bare plastic or undercoat only.

Definitely won't be so good on tables with sparse terrain/no scatter terrain. Though since this game comes with a pack of barricades that may not be too big a deal.

frankelee got a reaction from Prokins in Scum yes or no.
It's not what I want them to do, it's what they're doing. I noticed it when the game was first announced because I thought cross-over with Imperial Assault would be a great idea, where heroes and unique characters could serve as lesser heroes, much like "Champions" and "Heroes" worked in Warhammer. But instead they went with this very stark design where you have the big movie heroes and then totally generic soldiers, and nothing in between.
I wasn't expecting this approach at all given their other releases: Armada's core set has ships from outside the movies, Imperial Assault's core set features six new heroes, and every supplement features even more, X-Wing immediately had pilots from outside the movies, and even though those are just cards, probably in the first 28 ships in the game, around half of them are from outside the movies. You just have to appreciate how much planning and executive control goes into these games, this decision to only take content directly from major movie releases has just got to be a conscious one. I'm surprised this fact isn't immediately obvious to people, but beyond that, it's just something I noted because it's worth keeping in mind when discussing future possible content. It is a conscious design decision by management, not just an anomaly caused by the game only being out a short amount of time or some crazy coincidence.
Like I noted before, it's a human being's decision, so it's not like violating Thermodynamics if they throw in Admiral Thrawn. BUT, it is there, it is a decision that they have been enforcing on their designs. Again there's no way to know the details unless FFG shares them, it could be Christian T. Peterson tried out Imperial Assault with Rebels cartoon heroes and went, "This is stupid, I hate cartoon characters, Legion can never have anything not from the live action movies!" and because of the 18 month production pipeline it won't be until Q1 of 2020 before we see any EU content. Or it could be an MBA who works for FFG went, "If we sell the same characters for two different games then we're just competing with ourselves! Since Legion must include movie content we have to double on those characters, but that's it! Anyone who wants to play with EU content will have to buy Imperial Assault, and if they want our newest game they'll still buy Legion." And the plan for when they run out of OT relevant movie content is to start making Clone Wars content instead. Or maybe Disney just went, "Sell our movies or you won't get the license when it's time to renew! Live action movie content is all you should care about!!!"
So as far as a Scum faction goes, my original point was simply that their unyielding attitude toward what creative directions the game may take suggests FFG would not be very open to the allowing the designers the sort of creative license one would hope to have when stitching together another faction that really didn't exist in the movies. They could always change their minds, but there's simply no reason to pretend as if FFG management has not made a conscious design decision concerning what content can be included in the game, or to delude ourselves with the idea that it's just some wacky coincidence for whatever weak reason we can think of. Far from there being no evidence for this, it's overwhelming to the point of comedy. But, whatever people want to believe, again, my original point was if one wants to be grounded in reality, then it's hard to get your hopes up for a Scum faction since that would seem to be outside FFG's approach.

But keeping our old imperial army infantry around? That's just a bridge too far, for Disney's canon. Gimme a break.

frankelee reacted to Xiervak in Echo Base Troopers
Snow troopers were stormtroopers with different armor. Yet in the same they have different stats, abilities, and upgrades.
I see no reason why Rebs couldn't have the same thing differentiating Rebel Troops and Echo Base Troopers.
That being said, FFG likes to mirror their releases. Since we got Fleet Troopers/Snow Troopers, Imperials would need another trooper addition. Naval troopers?

Same here. I have zero interest in anything related to the prequels. But I’m happy for everyone who does want clone wars stuff. I just get to save money.
