damnkid3 got a reaction from Craftidore in Specs that don't get played much and why?
The slicer also has a draw back of a very strange Talent tree, having to buy all the way down before you can go back up.

If the game is going to be an on going campaign then I would make them more well rounded with more stats at 3. (4 if possible with obligation) It is not too long after you can buy dedication after 100 earned exp.
If the game will only be a couple sessions then pump their main stat up, so they can be great right away versus waiting for a time that may never come.

My reading the intent is for it to only effect the owner of the talent. All force checks would just apply to that character. With it being a 15 point talent on the sage tree, it would be too much if it effected the whole Party.

damnkid3 got a reaction from StriderZessei in Do I miss something or Unmatched Fortune seems really weak Signature Ability
This is the signature ability that has been bought in every campaign I have played in. IMO it is the most powerful signature ability since it can be used in at any time, shared with other player and fix disastrous rolls and make them amazing. When my players know someone has the ability the others are always looking at their dice when they fail or search their own rolls for ways to make it better.
After my last game my player who used this messaged me and asked if I wanted him to not have it any more since it looked to him like it was ruining my fun. I told him it is fine since it cost a lot of exp and I'm here for the game as long as he as the players are having fun I don't mind how they change the story. He changed a failed roll with a Despair, in to a successful roll with 2 triumphs with the dice he was able to rotate. I don't remember what the event was but had a good idea for the despair, so I was kinda sad to see it go away. (hmmm maybe I ask him not to have the one to effect negative dice.......)

Thought I'd share the GM board I made, cut from pieces of Maple that I glued together, stained and oiled. Hinged with black faux leather. Rule references attached.
Let me know if you want specifics on the build or if you're interested in getting one. This is what I use for every session, large enough to have nearly all the short hand rules behind, space to put sticky notes for various reasons. And tall enough to hide your notes, minis, maps etc, without being too tall that nobody can see you.

White board for maps and initiative, crit injury chart are my normal in game suppliers.
Pre game, the complete talent trees from the forums and the Master list on this forum (ML 9.5). It has most of books all in one spreadsheet. Great for finding weapons, ships and Mods.

damnkid3 got a reaction from DurosSpacer in How Easy Is It to Start and Play at High Level?
If they are experienced play i wouldn't worry about starting them at a higher number. But my advice would be to start then at knight but given them more exp per session to build their character. It will allow them to build based on the story versus picking the best at 600 exp. Also they will have a better grasp of their powers versus learning all at once.
My game my characters are around 1400 exp and they have between 10-14 pages between spec trees and force powers. So it can easily become hard to keep track of all your talents and powers.

damnkid3 got a reaction from whafrog in Question about Racing/Chases
I didnt do RAW for a race that I did. I used the speed and silhouette for the base difficulty for the roll, the added setbacks or upgrades depending on how difficult or dangerous the section of the track was. If the player succeeded on their roll the move their speed in points, if they fail they move half the distance of their speed. For using narrative results you could only effect people within 3 points of you, ahead or behind. This way the person in last can't effect the leader if they are too far.
I made the race 6 tracks and the person with the highest total won the race. You could also determine a number of points needed to win the race. This cause speed to become more important than it is in RAW.
There is an episode of the Order 66 podcast dedicated to racing and the chase. Episode 99 Gone in 60 Parsecs.
Hope this helps!

damnkid3 got a reaction from Greymantle64 in A Cyberpunk/Altered Carbon theme in Star Wars.
You could run a cyberpunk style game in start wars, look at crescent. The rich are all up top and separated from the lower levels. The further down the worse the conditions get. If you see the lower levels on the shows it can easily have a cyberpunk feel, well after removing all the Jedi with Lightsabers.

damnkid3 got a reaction from Rean411 in Jedi battlemaster
The point of the lightsaber forms are to use different attributes for attacks, and what your combat focus is one. Buying all would take for ever and you would gain much from them. The most i would take is 2 if they have good abilities for your character, and your primary stats match.
Jedi knight and Palawan are good ro help round out you fighting abilities since these are careers when battle for the Jedi was constant.

damnkid3 got a reaction from Rimsen in Need help handling strong player.
Talk to him is the best approach, I had to have this talk with an autofire sharpshooter. I warned him to deal with your character I will have to make the bad guys strong, and if you not there the rest of the party won't be a now to handle them.
Besides talking, one thing I did is send the group to a planet that outlawed ranged weapons, so he had to pick up melee or risk getting him and his group arrested.
Break or steal his gun, but with all those talents it will slow him down versus stop him.
Lots of in game possibilities, but talk to him and the group. Maybe this style is bothering the rest of the group as well. If the group agrees then his play style may not work for the group.
Good luck that can be a difficult conversation.

You can use the jedisky dice webpage. Everyone can log in to it and share rolls, it is basic but has good features. That is what I use, here is the link:

Kylo Ren used Farsight.
Mace, Anakin, and Obi-Wan used Influence.
-
damnkid3 reacted to emsquared in Force power to extract information
Yes, someone did, they're called Fantasy Flight Games.
See: Sense Power, control upgrade: "...sense current thoughts..."
It requires the expenditure of a pip (black or white), and thereby can and does generate Conflict, particularly for Darkside users whose default is black pips. Depending on the motive for stealing the person's private thoughts, a GM could give Conflict for the action, though the motive would have to be selfish IMO.
As noted Influence could also be used to "make someone believe something untrue", like; "You want to tell me the truth." If that's a lie, it could easily earn the Force user the appropriate lying Conflict, not to mention the pips again.
I am currently playing a Character with both abilities, and have had numerous players with either ability. It's great. Adds a lot to the game, and the Morality system.

damnkid3 reacted to Donovan Morningfire in Force power to extract information
So there's at least a couple of ways to do this.
First option that comes to mind is the Sense power's Control upgrade to sense a person's surface thoughts, which could be used in tandem with a Coercion or Deception check (especially in non-structured encounters) to get the target to think of the things you specifically want them to think of while questioning the target. With Kylo Ren, he spent his advantages when interrogating Poe Dameron to inflict strain, but rolled a Despair when trying it on Rey, letting her get a glimpse into his thoughts.
Another possible route is Influence, specifically the Control upgrade to alter the target's beliefs in order to get them to talk, and again spending advantages on the opposed Discipline check to inflict strain on the target. Or, with the GM's permission, using any Force points generated above what was needed for the Control upgrade to be used to trigger the base Influence power's effects of inflicting strain, or some combination of the two (again, up to the GM).

damnkid3 got a reaction from DylanRPG in FFG Star Wars RPG: Streamlined into 18 Career Trees
I like the idea of simplify the careers and specialization. I think all of the options can be a lot to new players, and a lot of specializations from careers do not get much play. Due to the talent trees.
For looking through here are the topics I would look at.
Adjusting talents to scale with the loss of ranked talents. With out ranks some talents will quickly be under powered by staying at the base level. If the abilities or inflated they may need to be move further down the talent tree.
The amount of talents for a career, I know or keeps it looking nice with a 4x5 tree. But think it should be expanded to at least a 6x5 or maybe 8x5 talent tree. This would allow player to focus more on the aspects they like in the tree and help slow down progression of finishing a career tree.
Careers skills - I didn't see it mention but increasing the number of career skills given at creation to compensate for missing specialization skills. (In general I think starting characters should have more starting skills)
That is all I have for now but will keep an eye on this as it intrigues me. I love the game as it is but all things can be improved. Good luck on your project and hopefully it helps keep you busy during these times.

damnkid3 got a reaction from Stethemessiah in Party going to prison. What to do with the droid PC?
For the droids memory not being wiped you can say the prison needs to download his memory for their case or to find other associates of the group. The person to do that will not be there for 3 day, so until then he will be kept in storage with the groups other personal belongings.

damnkid3 got a reaction from StriderZessei in Parry 0 for everyone
I agree with Donovan, melee and brawl are already under powered compared to range combat. Giving everyone the parry ability would hamper those 2 styles even further.
