Wow. Supreme effort. Thank you for posting, very interesting.
Shared with my local facebook group. We're already blaming our dice, now that we have proof. Lol.

Packaging.  I understand having the standardized packaging, but there is no elegant way to open a second edition small ship box.

I put a large washer in the base for weight (I believe a 1/2 fender washer was perfect for a small base), then I poured in a 2-part urethane we use at work (but silicone out of a caulk gun would probably work as well).
I used a belt sander to flatten out the bottom when I was done.  I love the final result.  I'll never go back to stock bases.

    All this.
To make it a single wish:
Make non-Standard play options just as standard.
So, when I first started playing, my brother and I never used the asteroids because of the same feelings.  Then, one game when finally added them and we could not believe how much they added to play.
So, realistically, no Obstacles makes sense.
But, as it turns out, the only thing more lame than Standard is Standard Without Obstacles.

BojambaMcMamba reacted to dsul413 in Atlanta System Open Reflections
Four of my friends and I had the distinct pleasure of attending the Atlanta System Open this weekend. Four of us flew out from New Mexico and one drove in from Alabama, and we had an absolute blast of a weekend playing X Wing. By and large, the community we met was a pleasure to interact and play with. None of us had played a system open before, and only one had Regionals experience; the rest of us had only played a few local store tournaments or no tournaments before (my friend flying Obi + 3 arcs on stream.) We weren’t really sure what to expect. None of that mattered in game, and I enjoyed games against every one of my opponents and the preponderance of my friends games were the same.
I went 3-3 (with a final salvo win included at the end of the day) with Separatists on Day 1 and 3-0 before losing in round 4 during Hyperspace. My friends all averaged fairly similarly on the weekend overall, with one who played a 4-1 game to try to make the cut and a pair of 4-0 games on day 2 and not making it past. That likely doesn’t seem like much, but we all had a great time and fared better than we hoped going into the day.
And so much swag. Sooooo much swag. We are already thinking of card designs to try to bring our own alt arts to future tournaments.
Other than the BCP app crash significantly delaying Day 1, the tournament seemed to run smoothly and the staff was always helpful and courteous.
Anywho, this post is really meant to be just a thank you to the community for the great fun throughout the weekend.

    2.  Would it work at 1/270 scale?
If "yes", go on to #3.
    3.  Is it Yuzzhan Vong?

    4.  It belongs in the game.

BojambaMcMamba reacted to TauntaunScout in Star Wars Episode IX The Rise Of Skywalker
I don't really care which Star Wars movies someone likes re-watching, that's a subjective experience which is informed by more than how good or bad the art is. When I evaluate Star Wars films as art objects, the ones I deem best are not the same as the ones I re-watch most frequently. But I am suspicious that anyone who posits that all 11 are good art is either holding them to a lower standard than other art or a poor judge of art or both. And personally I think things with more or less unlimited budgets should usually be held to a higher standard anyway.
I liked Rey and Rose and the idea of a defected stormtooper I think it's unfortunate how they've managed this trilogy. I assume Harrison Ford wanted out so they had to kill off Han, I doubt he'd have agreed to sign on unless Han died. But it was also a major missed opportunity not to make the movies basically about Luke & Co. even if he has grey hair now. Plain age-ism. One of the great things about Willow is that the final battle is between two old ladies, and the titular character is an average middle-class dad with no fighting skills. They really could have done some amazing stuff with Luke & Leia if they'd only wnated to. I waited 30 years for a new movie about these old characters, and I went in and I plunked down my money and then they spent hours simply going through the introductions of new characters, not even bothering to tell a story about them. Wtf? Then next Christmas they virtually did it again, it was all side dishes with no entree, like a bungled version of ESB. We now have like 4 hours of intros and training montages with no clear storyline. If it was an unabashed 3 parts to a single story like LOTR that might work. But it's not really that either, and SW is not LOTR so it mightn't have worked anyways.
The trailer for TROS looks great. I can reasonably fear that most characters will continue to lack plausible motivation. Or that JJ Abrams will still think it's a good idea to ruin films with sheer astronomical improbabilities that have no place in Star Wars: yes this is Space Opera, but it's not Camp. But picking apart scenes in this trailer for complaint is pointless. Truly cringeworthy lines in the R1 trailers didn't make the final film. TFA's trailer gave me chills and the movie was a letdown. Trailers are commercials. Commercials can't be taken at face value, for good or bad. I am going to see this movie, in the theater, at least once, but not on opening weekend. What other judgements can I make from a trailer?
This franchise is essentially "too big to fail", it doesn't matter what Disney does. It's simply a question of how much profit it will make, not if.  So any defense based on ticket sales is problematic for this franchise. We'll probably all live to see a SW movie that loses money if they keep making them every 2 years. But it'll be quite awhile. In the meantime, "too big to fail" probably means we get lots of awesome gaming miniatures licensed out for it, so I am pleased with the overall state of affairs in a galaxy far, far away.

I get what you are saying, but I'm not sure I agree.  Maybe it feels better to think of a focused ship as the baseline for normal operation.
Get outflown and have to barrel roll to get a shot in someone?  Your penalty is no focus token.
Get targeted by many enemies and spend your focus token on defense?  Now you're at a disadvantage for your attack.
Is it worth a red maneuver to throw someone off your tail?  You can do it, but there's a real cost.  You don't get back to your baseline expected efficiency that turn.
I get that it's powerful, but I don't think the game would be better if most people had a 50% chance to roll a hit instead of a 75% chance per die.  Think of focus as normal, and I think the rest of the game works pretty well.
The one exception here is evade.  Since they nerfed it from 1.0, it very rarely feels worth taking (unless you have juke or already have a focus as well).  I think there was opportunity to make the focus/evade decision more interesting.  I'm not sure what would accomplish that well, though.  Having them stick around like target locks is to strong (it's basically a shield token then).  Maybe if there was only 1 focus result on a green die instead of two, but that would have changed the whole balance of ships that rely on green dice.  Maybe if you got a free evade with a barrel roll?  It's fun and thematic on low init TIE/LNs, but probably OP on high init action stacking arc dodgers.  Don't know, but I don't feel it's quite perfect yet.
