Ah - I completely mistook your point. I thought you were upset with them making new models when they could just provide a re-paint and new cards. I feel your pain - I just finished buying my fourth Interceptor the day before they announced Imperial Aces... Overall, despite my surplus of squints, A-Wings and B-Wings... I'm glad they did it at least for the extra cards/options the Aces packs brought. I can understand why they did Aces packs, but for those of us who were collecting rapaciously from the start, it did lead to a lot of extra plastic and expense ... if I ever get to play Epic, then at least I'll be able to put them to good use lol

If they really do this i might get a bit angry. Because in the end its just another paint job variance on the model for ships that most ppl already have a trillion times. Angry at who? FFG? Lucasfilm? Abrams? What would you do if you were FFG? Whatever the ships were going to be in the new movie, it's inevitable that they would be put into X-Wing - not just for licensing/contractual reasons, but for BUSINESS reasons also. If the new movie is any good (and arguably even if it isn't) there are going to be fans wanting to see/play with their stubby nosed jigsaw-winged X-Wings, their black ties with rear canon, and "cogs" - something that a repaint of existing models does not address. FFG are going to cater for this - wouldn't you? Did FFG design the ships for the new movie? Nope. If you're going to be angry, take it to Lucasfilm.

Rebels has already shown a lot of Clone Wars/prequel ships. The Gozanti-class, the Arquitens-class, the Pelta-class. That's what I meant by an opening for Clone Wars epic ships
-
Hold hope, but not your breath - I'd say if you see a prequel ship in Rebels or the any of the new movies then it's likely, but otherwise I wouldn't get my hopes up Rebels seems to be focusing on "introducing" classic ships such as the B-Wing and A-Wing (although there's an opening for clone wars epic ships with what they've had or are coming) The first anthology Star Wars movie is set just before episode IV, so there is a chance that you may see some prequel/clone wars ships in that, although it's more than likely going to go the Rebels route and show us OT favourites and maybe anything they have introduced for episode VII...
-
You'd think they'd have to have something for their biggest earner, X-Wing, and historically they have... IMHO they're going to do a tie-in with VII for the next wave, which makes a reveal at GenCon difficult as I believe all VII merch reveals are slated for September (Lego, Kenner, etc...) I predict howls of disappointment as a "mere" Aces pack is revealed at GenCon, with an announcement in September of wave 8 with episode VII ships included...

There's a whole lot of alphabet left (Arabic and Greek)...

I like the sound of this - another "Wave 5," but with a twist!
-
This is true, but also in keeping with their positioning on other "issues." The closest we've ever come is Alex Davy saying that given the chance to do-over the HWK he'd make it Attack 2. To be fair - under Davy and Brooks there has been a concerted effort to patch the incongruencies in the game ... I would love for these guys to be given a clean slate to "re-imagine" X-Wing from the ground up for a 2.0

So you know the game that i play with the small StarWars ships that i don't like you touching? Yeah...It's a card that goes with that game. I would like it if you didn't touch the cards either please. Thanks. Thank you Johdo - you made my day ... laughed so hard I spilled my coffee!

Can anyone translate what she's writing? First line: ....sial Second line: del... I can't make out the first few symbols and the end of the second line looks like gibberish to me. Spe"s"ial Delivery? She's a Bombardier, not a spelling bee champ...

^ So very much this. Even going from IV to V you can see this... in IV the emperor was not a spooky force-using Sith, and Vader was not his right hand man... Vader was answering to Tarkin! None of the dynamics of the Empire make sense in IV in light of V let alone what happened in I - III

Uhm... are those new TIEs at 1:47?!?! They sound like TIEs, but they've got square wings and their radiators are in the "Middle" of the wing... I can't see the classic TIE canopy either...

I would see a 2nd edition as a completely new game re-built from the ground up, rather than a tweaking/modification of the current system, which would be a revised edition, rather than a 2.0 I would expect a 2.0 to be re-written whole cloth, no assumptions to be made about preserving any given game mechanic. That said, here's what I would love to see in a 2.0: 1) The game has to be fast, and capture the feel of dogfighting in the Star Wars universe. This is handled pretty well by the game as it stands... it needs to be maintained or improved upon, not lost in additional layers of complexity. (note: I'm talking about complexity in gameplay here - if squad building becomes more complex that's ok, as long as the game experience is preserved). 2) Turrets as separate entities with their own mobile arcs. Ship chits would show four quadrants for the turret(s). If the turret (and a gunner) is purchased then a rotatable marker is attached to the base peg to represent the facing of the turret. The turret can be rotated one facing clockwise or counterclockwise at the end of movement. 3) Integration of strategic goals in standard play like Armada or Imperial Assault skirmish.

This reads well, and fits with lumbering ships like the Decimator and Shuttle, but doesn't gel with fast, nimble ships like the YT-1300 and YT-2400... Remove all 4 speed and 3 turn moves from large base ships. Yes, yes, yes - sooo much this!

Best as I can make out: When y manoeuvre increase or by 1 xxx So maybe: When you reveal your manoeuvre dial, you may increase or decrease by one [point] ? maybe ?

That's a cool looking ship and definitely meets the sweet spot size-wise. Don't hold your breath waiting for a Scum huge ship though... we're still waiting on the Imperial one...

How many named pilots existed for the Phantom that weren't made up whole-cloth?
-
Yep - some sort of visual identifier would be ideal - the rings would be possibly better (if more labor intensive!) as it has the added bonus of being easier to count at a glance... Ha! You could, but the visual appeal is a big part of X-Wing isn't it?
-
Hmmm... I suppose those ships (the B-Wing and Firespray? Can't think of any others) could simply use an additional peg that doesn't count attached at the "ship end" - in other words, regardless of how many pegs are attached to the ship you only count "up" from the base. So very, very true sadly...

X-Wing is emulating Star Wars ... not reality. X-Wing is a game ... not a simulation. Ship to ship overlaps emulate the up close and personal "in your face" nature of Star Wars dogfights, provide an elegant alternative to "stacking" models with stands and miniatures, and add tactical options to the game. Ship to asteroid overlaps emulate the deadly chaos of Star Wars asteroid fields (see TESB) and add tactical options to the game.

I've got nothing against Rebels - I enjoy watching it with my young son immensely! FFG have already stated that they're not opposed to brining ships in from Rebels if there was a cool ship in the show that they'd like to use... even going so far to elaborate that if they did they'd make the model in a more realistic and less stylised fashion if they did. And THAT's the problem with Rebels ... it's not really brining anything new to the table ship-wise - that weird TIE/troop carrier hybrid is not really a spaceship, the Gozanti was cannon before Rebels, and the A-Wing and B-Wing we already have. The TIE advanced variant is a possibility I guess, but is it "different" enough to warrant a new model? And that leaves only the Ghost. While it may be problematic because it is HUGE (bigger than the Falcon) and largely fills a similar role, it maybe more viable now for inclusion with the docking mechanic that wave 7 introduces. This would possibly distinguish it enough mechanically to make it's inclusion worthwhile.

Wow - just wow! Thanks for this!

In my internal canon I've always justified it as the Rebel Captive being equally important for the scum, whether pirates or bounty hunters, a valuable bounty or ransom-worthy figure of importance to the rebels valuable to the scum. EDIT: Ninja'd by LaserBrain lol
