Made. My. Day.

I'm so with you on Kylo - I was genuinely fearful that he'd be killed at the end.
-
This is, I'm sure, absolutely the case, but it doesn't need to be explained in this movie, any more than we need to know more about Luke's father in ANH. What we need is a reason to care about her. Fin we understand - he's a Stormtrooper with a conscience, trying to do the right thing after starting on the "wrong" side. Rey ... I've got nothing. We find out she's a good pilot. We find out she's handy with a melee weapon, we find out she's got some serious force mojo, but why should we care about her?

So much this. Room to breathe.

Saw it today, and still struggling with my feelings... LOVED Kylo Ren and didn't expect to - wished he had his helmet off more, and glad that he wasn't outright killed off. Overall, what I didn't like was that stuff just happened, and (to me) it seemed like we were just expected to care, rather than being given a reason to. Take Rey for example - obviously the "main" character, much like Luke was in ANH... we have no background info on her, no insight at all apart from that she's waiting for her family. In ANH, we had Lukes interaction with his aunt, uncle and Obi Wan (and to a lesser extent with the droids), to give us some insight into his character and make us feel for his character. With Rey we get nothing. Now obviously she has no "family" to fill in the details, but having her encounter and banter with a nemesis or friend/acquaintance for a bit of background would have gone a long way. (for anime fans - something like the opening of Valley of the Four Winds when Nausicaa meets Lord Yupa) We're also just expected to accept that Rey is an amazing pilot too. With Luke we had the build up (Ben discussing his father's star fighting abilities and Luke's brag to Han and comment about bagging wamp rats) so that when he gets into an X-Wing, we're not surprised that he's capable.

This has been discussed many, many, many times before. I heartily agree that the "scale" is not right - but you're pointing the finger at the wrong people. When it comes to ships from the OT, the original models were made by the modellers to different scales. Unfortunately at some point, some bright spark at LFL decided to make canon measurements for all of the OT ships, and did not know/care that they were at different scales. FFG is painstakingly following the official "scale" as espoused by LFL ... unfortunately that scale is wrong.

I almost made another account so I could "LIKE" this twice!
-
The same "rear arc" cannon shoots forward too (took out turbo lasers they were flying towards) - not sure if this means the TIE in question forgoes the normal weaponry in favour of the cannon (don't remember the pilot doing any shooting at all in that scene)
-
Yeah, that is a real problem, for sure. Thank the heavens there is finally a higher resolution photo of a bunch of text everyone could all easily read anyway. Finally. Can the snark - good quality images of cards (consistent with each other) are important for the Wiki, some Squad Builders and Vassal.

It didn't stop FFG releasing the B-Wing in Rebel Aces, when it was already doing very well (i.e. about as common in Rebel lists as the Y-Wing is now) Brace yourself

I had a really fun time with Autoblaster Turret on Miranda with a Jan Hawk flitting around in the background, letting me set up a 4 dice Autoblaster attack. It didn't proc often, but when it did, it was glorious!

Heh - I'll see your Australia, and raise you Tasmania *sigh*

Once more with feeling... Conner Net Ion token confusion
maxam replied to PaulTiberius's topic in X-Wing Rules Questions
Someone seriously needs to make a Conner Net flowchart... I'd happily pay for one! -
Thanks for the reply - and good to know from your response (and Forgotten Lores) that I wasn't missing something. Still, the RAW means this can lead to some un-thematic ramming situations as FL mentioned in his response ... it's house rulin' time!
-
Thanks - I really appreciate the response. Yeah makes sense to me too - maybe if Epic sees more play this may be FAQ'd.

Ok, so this came up in a game the other day ... Two huge ships collide, fore section to fore section - both should be assigned a face-up damage card to the appropriate section (in this case the fore section), but one of the ships has a crippled fore section... For the huge ship with the crippled fore section what happens? Does the damage carry through to the Aft section? Does the already crippled Fore section receive a damage card anyway?
-
Yeah... looking at it again (and again, and again!), it definitely looks like they're ground launched...

This time around though, they're doing a "Marvel Universe" affair, so expect a lot more going on in terms of characters, significant background detail, and foundations laid to build out from... I mean, they're already releasing books for non-major "scum" characters from TFA(!) (c.f. "Tales From a Galaxy Far, Far, Away: Aliens" - four novels based around "scum" characters and another one whose title eludes me about a female assassin character) It's like getting the backstory for all the characters in the ANH cantina at release, rather than being filled in years later via the EU. I am pretty sure some of these characters will have their own ships...
-
I like it too - simple, and straightforward!
-
Lowercase "s", it's the kind that floats to the top of a sewage tank. Never underestimate (a) the likelihood that an actual ship will look better than the Lego version, and (b) even if it doesn't, FFG has an uncanny ability to make aesthetically challenged ships look decent (c.f. K-Wing) That's what I'm hoping anyway! (fingers crossed)

Yeah ... weird right ... particularly given the photo above ... have to check out my bomber models when I get home ... might be there's something about the shape of the area where the peg hole is that lets it fit ...
-
For the most part, I think you'll find that apart from any space concerns caused by "wings", the main reason is that the docking clamp fits a "Ball cockpit", with about the lower third of the ball going into the clamp. This would automatically prevent any ship that does not have a TIE ball with a peg socket at the base fitting - so no Phantom, Bomber, Punisher, etc...
-
Would've come in handy at the end of TPM, shame Kenobi forgot about it...
-
I ordered two also, but if I load one up I'm going to load it with Gozanti-matching grey ones lol I wanted four blue TIEs for an all Blue mini-squad *sigh*
