Um... no - it's actually a new sculpt. The difference? A BB-8 instead of an R2 unit "instead of the R4 astromech that comes with the standard T-70 X-wing sculpt, Poe Dameron's signature vessel comes sculpted with his faithful astromech companion, BB-8." Also take note of the fact that the new falcon is not the old sculpt with a different antenna - it's a new sculpt updating the falcon to reflect the minor differences in its appearance in TFA (not just a paint job) if FFG willing to do re-sculpts in these cases, they're not going to do a repaint for the SF

How to whine (without looking like an immature fool).

If only there was a way to double (or triple) like a post! -
There are differences... grab your round-dish YT-1300 and compare these spots: Will it matter to most people that there are differences beyond the radar dish? Probably not. Did FFG really need to go to all the trouble to make another YT-1300 model with tiny differences in detail rather than slap a new paint job/dish on the old model and call it a day? Certainly not. Did FFG really need to make another T-70 model with a different droid as well as a repaint. No. But they did. Yes they are a company and have to make money to stay in business, and yes they are at the mercy of what new and/old ships are introduced in the movies - they may even be contractually obliged to release them in an Episode VII format ... but rather than slap together a repaint of two existing models with a minor change (dish), they went to the effort and trouble to re-model them in keeping with the movie. Why? Because they are Star Wars fans.

Niiiiice. Well played sir.

I hope to never see such abominations cast in plasticrack! I would normally agree, but I am amazed at how well they have made some truly awful ship designs look good in recent releases, so I'm up for pretty much anything at this point.
-
These are superb - thank you so much!

My FLGS here in Australia had confirmation that wave 8 would arrive in the country on the 17th, but had just received notice that it won't be the entire wave, i.e., one or more ships would not be included...

PMSL much better than the FFG one... Brilliant! Now I need to make an alt art of the alt art

In the case of the Imperial troop lander, sure - it has no guns to speak of (one anti-personnel one only), BUT the Rebel one has proper guns/cannon. It's as viable as the Lambda was/is. "Shuttle" for Rebels? Yes please. Hmmm... surely the same could be said for Aces/Veterans packs? Are they hard to justify for a repaint and new cards? As someone who had just purchased their fourth interceptor only to come home and find Imperial Aces announced, I can certainly say it did not stop me buying Imperial Aces and enjoying the expansion...

I'm not going to pay 50+ points for a ship like that. The PWTs pay for their privilege. In an ideal world you wouldn't ... the ship itself would be cheap, but the turrets (and gunners) would cost a bit. Let's take the (hypothetical) YT-1300 ... 2 dice attack from frontal arc only. You have two turret slots. You pay to equip guns in the turrets (and maybe pay again for gunners to man them). And it's cheap (without the turret(s))
-
Nor do I really, which is why I put the quotes in lol TBH having tried this method out with a friend - I really love the tactical fun it brings having to rotate the turret into an optimal position, not to mention the 'feinting' and other shenanigans an attacker can pull off to get the turret into a sub-optimal one.
-
IF I could go back in time and make one change to the game from the start, I'd make all Turrets (primary and secondary) have their own arc that needs to be rotated by the player (a plastic ring with arc 'spokes' that fits over the lower peg). This removes the 'easy' mode that current turrets have and does a good job of re-creating the turret battles as seen in ep IV.

It may well be that it can be flipped during a match (and that would be cool), but I don't see why flipping only at the start of a match would be suitable for tournaments only. If you can only flip at the start of a match, then this is just as useful in a casual game as a tournament round... unless in casual games you get to wait until you've seen your opponents list before you build yours... If flipping only happens at the start I can imagine there'd need to be an order of flipping (initiative based?) otherwise there could be a situation where both sides could be in "flip lock" Whether it's flip turn by turn or flip at the start, given the "Dual Upgrade" card, I'm excited at the possibilities of what other Dual Upgrades we have to look forward to...
-
Y'know, some of these are really god-awful. The first one (originally meant to be something Rey put together) is IMHO awesome! Would love it as a Rebel ship. I'd have to agree with you otherwise...
-
Are they mutually exclusive? Can't we have them all?
-
According to the visual guide it's got a heavy laser cannon (as opposed to the Stormtrooper transports "antipersonnel" gun), so it's got some firepower to bring to the table (or a cannon slot at least) For those who think it doesn't have a place in a game ostensibly about space battles/dogfights - we have the Lambda class shuttle ... 'nuff said.
-
Thanks for posting that. I was just looking at the cross section hardcover myself. The other information from it was that the ship is heavier than the FO TIE (so most likely 2 agility) and better shielded (2 or 3). Just giving the ship the turret ability feels like the easiest thing to do. Specific titles and upgrades can easily cover other options like the warhead launcher. You're quite welcome! I'm loving this book! It's said to be SIGNIFICANTLY heavier than the TIE/fo, and sports a pair of reactors on either side of the cockpit ball to make up for it. I agree though, probably more shields and one less agility. Turret. Firing Missles. And/Or lasers. O.M.G. "Thanks go out to Nera Dantels and the Ghost ... we appreciate your input and think we've come up with something better."

Wish there was a way to double-like! Money money money. You really think FFG will release a repainted A Wing, B Wing, and TIE Interceptor but not a repainted T-70 when that repainted T-70 actually appears on screen in the movies. As opposed to the Misthunter or IG2000 which had how much time on screen? The Lambda never fired a shot either. Neither did the GR75. Both are in the game. FFG is in this for the money. They are scrambling to release every ship they can. They hit the bottom of the EU barrel some time ago, and started digging. Now they have new ships that are on screen in the new movie, and you think they won't release them? Come on. And the Lambda is a shuttle and the YT models are freighters. The Quadjumper is noted as being a favourite of explorers and smugglers because of it's ease of customisation and powerful engines. I think it would be a great S&V ship and could easily imagine it being customised to have some guns to keep enemies away.

Much like the Han and Lando crew cards share the same art, when we get Kylo in the game I'd like to see something similar done alt art wise with Kylo and Poe (minus JT of course):
-
It'd provoke endless complaints from the crowd that buys only one faction's ships. And even more if they release them in individual blisters as well, but with different pilots upgrades...
-
About as often as the Falcon shot off its radar dish. Sure the TIE's wing obstruct more but it's the same principle. And I guess the warhead launchers are in the heavy weapons turret. Though I would love a seperate model for /sf I would be happy with a title that allowed firing out of arc as well as adding missile/torp slots, and maybe even boost (but that's probably overkill). Migh want to add another hull too. Hmmm, sounds like that title will cost about 5, 10 or more. Don't forget to add the extra shield(s) too (which it apparently has)
-
Or, you could do an either/or... i.e. it comes with a turret slot and forward primary just like a Y-Wing, but it also comes with an upgrade that removes the turret slot and replaces it with a crew slot, letting you make a less firepower heavy, support-crew style ship if desired.
-
based on the movie its a 360, because if you remember when they steal acquire one inside the SSD he shoots behind to clear up the riff raff, but underneath he shoots in front. the direction of travel. we sure it doesn't have two sets of weapons? because turrets would be incredibly stupid on something even Poe was impressed by (dude flies a T-70; it ain't no slouch!) Umm... it does have two sets of weapons - an "arc" locked set of lasers (forward) and a Turret (Dual Heavy Laser) to be precise...

There's a Revell model kit that shows the cockpit as being really shallow and with only two seats...
