  1. Not all obviously. I guess for me it’s more about being able to built lists with the freedom I’ve enjoyed in the past. 6 A-Wings or 4 Lambdas and the like.
  2. I’m really liking the much needed changes to X-Wing and I fully support what the changes I’m seeing so far with 2.0. However, as someone who has spent approximately NZ$4,000 on X-Wing over the past 6 years or so I am finding the one-size-fits-all approach to the Conversion Kits quite disappointing. FFG knows there are a great many people in the community who have spent years carefully purchasing and balancing their collections. I feel that in addition to the standard Conversion Kits, FFG would do quite well to offer custom/built-to-order kits, at least as far as ships and dials are concerned. I have no idea what the make up of the upgrade cards will be, and with so much changing we would probably need to trust in their judgement to a certain degree and hope they supply us with enough of each card to justify our previous investments. It would certainly save on wasted cardboard and ensure everyone’s ships were ready to fly on day one. I know I’d probably end up spending just as much or even more than buying the standard kits but at least I know I’d have nothing going to waste. What does the community think about the idea of building their own kits to suit their collections?
  3. I'm a 77er! Born at the end of March that year so I would have been barely more than 2 months old when Star Wars came out.
  4. Wow! I logged back in today to find so many friendly players giving me awesome advice! Thank you to one and all. There's a lot here to digest and I'm so excited to be in the early stages of something new like Armada. X-Wing is great, but understandably a very different beast so I'm looking forward to learning all the little nuances of Armada. In addition to the stuff I've bought above a friend has also offered to sell me his Core Set, Gladiator, Assault Frigate and Rogues and Villians sets that he has. From what I've read here this should all set me up pretty well to begin with. Just need to add the Rebel and Imperial fighter squadrons and then take it slow from there. I'm glad to hear this game isn't as card dependent as X-Wing, the number of ships I've purchased for that game compared to the number I actually use is ridiculous! But I still love them all! Just want to say thanks to you all for welcoming this fledgling Admiral into your ranks. What an awesome and supportive community you are!
  5. Solid advice. Thanks! I imagine Armada works similarly to X-Wing in that certain purchases will bet you cards you can't find in other packs? For example if I bought a Corellian Corvette expansion would I get something I didn't already have in the Core Set?
  6. @SnipafistThanks! I'll check it out the links this evening.
  7. Hi all, I'm a long time player of X-Wing and while I've invested heavily in that game I'm looking to expand my horizons a little. I'm about to pick up an Armada Core Set, ISD expansion and a Home One expansion just because I love those two ships and they seem like they'd counter balance one another on the table at first. As as a newbie what would you recommend for my next essential purchases moving by forward? I'd like to strike a balance between both factions since I'll be the only one around here that owns it, would be good to have options on both sides. Im looking forward to hearing your feedback and joining this new community. I hope to get as much enjoyment from it as I am from X-Wing. Cheers!
  8. Happy to consider this one. Some great options coming through. Thanks.
  9. Hi all, I've been looking at flying the list below at our upcoming store tournament and would like to hear any feedback you may have. Rey (45) VI (1) TFA Title (1) Finn (5) Kanan (3) Ship total - 55 points Corran (35) VI (1) R2-D2 (4) FCS (2) Stealth Device (3) Ship total - 45 points List total - 100 points Keen to hear your views. Thanks!
  10. Autoblaster Turret in this case. This! Fixed it in post.
  11. Hi all, I've been thinking about a 2x Attack Shuttle/2x B-Wing list lately and came up with this. Sabine PTL Autoblaster Turret (26 Points) Ezra Predator Autoblaster Turret Hera (crew) (26 Points) Blue Sqadron Pilot x2 FCS (24 Points each) Total - 100 Points I figure you could either keep the squad together or split the Shuttles up with a B-Wing escort each. The ATs are more for defense than offense, trying to keep heavy hitters out of range one. Sabine is maneuverable and Ezra has options with Hera crew and not having to be concerned about taking actions for attack/defense. Any thoughts or recommends? Looking forward to hearing your ideas! *edited to clarify Autoblaster Turrets to avoid confusion.
  12. The trouble is then I can't benefit from taking the Ghost's native evade action followed up by Exp Interfacing Lando to try and get up to two more evades or an evade and focus combo. Not sure if Tactical Jammer would be worth that trade off. Have you found it to be a worthwhile upgrade?
  13. I've been playing around with this idea for a Fat Ghost build. Hera Syndulla (40) Ghost (0) Accuracy Corrector (3) Autoblaster Turret (2) Jan Ors (2) Lando Calrissian (3) Experimental Interface (3) "Zeb" Orrelios (18) Phantom (0) Biggs Darklighter (25) R2-D2 (4) Integrated Astromech (0) Total - 100 Points It's a variation on my favourite Fat Han build using Lando and Experimental Interface, but with Jan Ors instead of C-3PO. This build can potentially result in up to 3 evade tokens in any given round, and Biggs is there to take the brunt as well. I've had a fantastic success rate with the Lando/EI combo in the past. Looking into it's viability here, I'm concerned I may have over invested in defense at some cost to offense. Happy to hear your thoughts?
  14. For your Whale Riders, how about this: Bossk w/ marksmanship, gunner, tactician, inertial dampeners & engine = 50 Moralo w/ HLC, K4 droid, outlaw tech & engine = 50 100 This is very similar to a list I've flown before, but with Mangler instead of Marksmanship and ID. Might have to give your version a whirl. :-)
