you enemy fails a charge? then you can just shoot them in the face and zoidberg away. If they do succeed in the charge you can stab them in the face despite having a range attack revealed
-
It's like a file leader that allows you to have the option to attack or move if you don't in fact get charged
-
I set them with a metal disc then press them flat with a key or some other non-magnetic metal...I have lead ingots and aircraft aluminum lying around so I use those...wood can dent to easily imo to use to reliably set this magnets flush, some of them are REALLY tight...

All your stuff looks amazing and makes me want to cry at my tabletop quality army lol, I jest I jest I don't have time to highlight on tray over a month...but holy d@mn those models and your terrain...awestruck...

Yah well I mean I'm primarily thinking in terms of Slurm Team Six which 10 points on a 3x2 unit with 18 wounds but can take 48 damage, is pretty scary...

So the magnetic paint didn't work out. I'm putting in magnets in the trays. A bit tricky to keep the polarities consistent, but I actually worked out a system so it's not a big deal anymore.
Finally started painting my Daqan using the blue Army Painter primer. Hopefully I'll start a "hey look at my guys" thread of my own in the near future.
I wanna see your cavalry.
nooooooooooooooooooo just get small steel discs, its like $7 for 500 of them and they don't lift the models in the tray....

I cant remember the last time i had 2 surges with my spearmen/oaths. And even if i did i would much rather the inspiration token than 1 extra hit because of the other equipment (name escapes me, 4pts 2 surge adds a hit).
master crafted weapons...its a really nice thing to throw on carrion lancers with combat ingenuity...

It also adds another thing my opponent wants to remove, adding complication when deciding between that or another upgrade if he gets an accuracy. Nothing more amusing than popping that tabard on the init3 quickattack when fighting Ardus and he has init so i actually go first and kill him off lol
Cavalry i usually have raven tabards though.doesn't change that it is a useful upgrade that, unless you were buying all factions, would not be available outside of this box...my only point was that the spear box is only meh to people who have the waiqar stuff elsewhere...I'm planning on getting all factions which is going to mean that I will be overwhelmed with all the extra neutral upgrades I will have...and as such have started just giving extras away to single faction players...

Tabards are interesting in they can also hurt you (it isn't written as optional, like the penon, and at a glance I found nothing in the rules saying upgrades are optional). There were turns my entire plan had to change because of them (which makes them interesting).
yeah I like that some upgrades are optional and others are just unforgiving at times

This, I had this discussion with @Crabbok the only reason the spearmen box seems meh is because the people that it seems meh to are getting all of the things. If you are collecting waiqar and daqan you already have tempered steel and raven tabards. If you traded away the Waiqar stuff? well then the spearmen box actually has some pretty nice cards...(cav doing a speed 4 charge at init 7 is scary...and hurty...)

I'm all for an over inflated conspiracy theory and all but what am I trying to discern here? #TEMPLATEGATE #TRUSTNOGAME

I haven't seen a lot of people just jump full in with multiple armies when the entirety of a new game's armies hasn't even really been mapped out. It's easy to get into multiple armies in 40K (I got into at least four armies for WFB and two armies for 40K) because you know what all the options are. In RW, there's been a lot of chatter of people holding out till Latari or whatnot because they're just not into Daqan or Waiqar. Now if all the options were on the table, maybe they would choose Daqan and/or Waiqar, but right now it's easier and more cost effective to wait and see what else FFG puts out.
Personally, I bought the starter and am waiting to see how the game plays out before any other investments. I'm ready to go with Latari, but want to wait till I have a better understanding of the game. Likewise any other really cool looking army may have a waiting period for me. I know this game won't really get totally exciting until at least some time next year when there are four armies to get into. I'm betting others might see it that way as well.
Who knows, 2018 might have an army that makes me totally forget my Elf interest.
yes typically when someone is new to a wargame they may get one army, but most people I know plan a second faction pretty much as soon as they know they are staying with a game...::looks nervously at warmahordes collection:: But most people I know getting into RW are planning at least 2 armies...

And as the rest already had said this is a miniature wargame and a rank and file one not a skrimish so of course it will cost some money the get an army.
Nice collection, do you also play Imperial armies, I spotted 3 Knights on the top shelf of the blue storage rack.
I still have both kidneys + a new lung and a new liver

I too have all my organs, well at least all my organs that I could sell and weren't working against me...I just have massive debt, some of which is due to this hobby and being irresponsible, and the need to have all the things...

My other Hobby is shooting, and that is exponentially worse price-wise than my wargaming...

Yeah I agree here, I don't really see them putting out an FAQ or Errata until OP rules have been out and we have messed with them for at least a few months. Also regardless of when they put out OP rules the FAQ will probably wait until all 4 factions are out so they don't constantly put out documents...

Hey its this topic again...This isn't a board game and will never be structured in a marketing sense like a board game, you are going to have to buy expansions to play the game, and there is a bit of an upfront investment (though unlike most other mini's games, the upfront investment is RELATIVELY low. Like 2 copies of a really nice board game with mini's) which will get you right up to a 200 point army with list building options...by the way I'm working off the trading half core model...

There was a lore card in BattleLore that said if you poisoned a unit, you could poison two other units up to two hexes away from the target. I always imagined that lore card as representing that snakes slithered away and bit other targets.
IJust wanted them to be goofy, shooting snakes it's even more improbable than shooting arrows with snake heads on the tip...

8 hours ago, Budgernaut said:They're mentioned in the Lore Guide. They are archers that shoot arrows tipped with the heads of venomous serpents.

EDIT: My current avatar is also an image of a Viper Legion archer.
Aww I thought they were actually shooting snakes...i'm slightly disappointed now.

Well that's exciting, its like they are using the star wars money to test and learn to make their own IP better...This comes out just as I realize that D&D 5e isn't actually as bad a system as I expected it to be...oh well...

I think until we see command tools and upgrades any "this is weak" impression is based on FAAAAR too much speculation....
13 minutes ago, rowdyoctopus said:I haven't played many games, but am I missing something? Panic tokens seem weak compared to blight. And the berserker ability is pretty weak as well. Any offensive abilities these figures has is easily balanced out by the low armor. Any old attack is likely to make wounds stick.
Loss of faith, betrayal, the cards that force a reform and occasionally a march...I've done a lot of damage to units without rolling a single hit.

Heavy Crossbowmen. Give them the Aggressive Cornicen and dial in Move or Shift to exit the terrain and then the White 1 March to contact the opposing unit. The Aggressive Cornicen makes this a charge.
If it's the 3x2 unit you can add Citadel Weapons Master, Tempered Steel and Moment of Inspiration to the unit. It's charge attack would then be Threat 3 with 1 set of re-rolls, 1 Red, 1 Blue and 1 White die with the ability to change 1 surge to a hit.
Plus if you exit the terrain in such a way that the March Modifier will give a Flank Charge you can add an extra Red or Blue dice to the attack. That's a lot of points to charge your melee unit into combat...

yeah but you don't need to have your dial set to melee
