Warsen.al makes really nice clear bases for the circles and are great guys to deal with, the pill bases I've only seen by Litko but I didn't search very hard...Definitely check out Warsenal (the website is Warsen.al)

Who else is probably starting with two Core Sets?

I do always enjoy deciphering these post Elrad keeping being you -
Anybody gave some thought about the tray size?
jek replied to SirWillibald's topic in Runewars Miniatures Game
I love hirst art stuff I just wish I had the time to make them and that my 50lb bucket of dental stone hadn't been stolen off my porch (albeit that was pretty impressive) -

jek replied to SirWillibald's topic in Runewars Miniatures Game
I think the only difference is the base cut out in the trays not the actual size because the trays are still suppose to be able to connect for example if you were taking the front line golem upgrade or whatever with infantry...At least that was how I understood it. -

That was my original issue but the price point of the expansions so far has shown that it will most likely still be a better deal...4 cav for $25 8 Archers $25 we can probably speculate that 16 infantry of either faction won't be LESS than $25 so we have already hit our breakeven without even addressing the carrion rider or rune golem. The duplicate heroes I'll probably just give to the guy that does painting tutorials at my LGS for people to use when they are learning. -

I'm reviving this thread because now I can't decide on what to do...I don't know if I want to buy two, or get one then buy someones models for the faction they don't want, or trade one core faction with someone for the full 200 pt army of one faction. It's pretty clear to me the best option when building up the units that are part of the core is to get one of the boosters for the new upgrades then use cores to get more models as long as someone in an opposing faction wants to do the same. -

The bases of the models look to be similar to Imperial Assault which is approximately 25mm, sooo...the trays are probably going to be are 60mm I'd say though they could easily be 70 or 80mm if my estimation of the base size is off... -
And on that note I want to be clear that I'm not trying to attack anyone with what I have been saying I am just trying to make a logical argument for Runewars and the decisions in its creation and pricing vs the current options in Wargaming. So if any of my posts upset anyone I'm sorry for that it is not my intention, just a side effect of an increased frustration at some of the arguments against this game. I understand that from a board game stand point this is more expensive in the long run.
-
By that argument you should be against Descent, Imperial Assault, Mansions of Madness, and any other major board game to come out since then, but those are board games and this is a miniature game, they are different types of games complete with different army building/squad building mechanics. If you look at this and compare its cost to a board game then sure I can accept that argument, but in the end it is not a board game so that comparison is flawed. But once again I am not talking about the people who look at this price compared to board games, purely from a miniature game standpoint my argument this is not as expensive as MOST miniature games especially those of 28mm scale.

I looked at BF&S's website, and don't you have to but the rule book and army book for that game? Because those things were very pricey at $75/$40. Also the starter boxes I saw were sitting around $100 maybe it is that I don't know about the game enough and that is definitely true but if you do need to get the books, then that easily knocks this out of the realm of cheaper than Runewars making it AT LEAST as costly. In regards to the second "not as expensive" comment, that is the more valid comparison because whether something is expensive is an opinion, as expensive as others is verifiable and can be compared. As a whole a starter set being around $100 is standard and comparatively inexpensive by comparison when you look at everything that are including, templates, tokens, models, rules, etc. The kits of upgrades sitting around $25, ($20-22 at most stores possible less online) is a good price point, for a 28mm scale miniature game. If you don't like the materials and don't want to work with them for the hobby aspect then don't. If you don't like that scale because it doesn't feel big but then argue in favor or a smaller scale game where each miniature REPRESENTS 10 or 20 guys in a battle while the miniature count on the table itself is similar to the game you are arguing against I am just confused to the point of frustration. If you are so against the various aspects of this game that make it a unique entity then don't play it.

That's reasonable...no hate no rage just caution about the quality of the components, I can get behind that as a reason not to jump into the hype (I scream out the window of the caboose of the hype train lol I am super excited for this game...have I mentioned that before?)
-
How is it legitimate outrage though? The price (especially now) is the exact same if not cheaper than Imperial Assault not to mention the overall startup price is the same or cheaper than the LOWEST PRICED competitors...and with the game system by FFG I'm 99.9% sure this system is going to be fun and streamlined...
-
That's what I'm talking about, all the 3rd party sites post full cards and it always seems FFG doesn't care which is awesome, I remember using battle college for warmachine and they barely posted any information or would give summaries of info from cards. I doubt it was needed I just wanted to put the request out there.

Anyone else slightly disappointed in the scale of the game?
jek replied to jonboyjon1990's topic in Runewars Miniatures Game
I'm sure eventually we will all reach the point of having 150+ models and possibly running ridiculous pt games but it is nice to only have 50ish models to paint to have a tourney army... -

He lives 5 miles from me lol...the owner of my LGS is friends with him -
I agree that lore should be a separate entity especially if it already exists as a wiki, other than the little lore fluff that will inevitably be about each of the expansions, I would say that should be put with each expansions page. I'm assuming this will not step on anyone at FFG's toes posting full card details and such, since every FFG game I play has deck or squad builders that have all the info on the cards there too, but It would be cool if FFG were to post somewhere here saying yay or nay...

Super excited for that by the way! -
I won't comment on the material because I wish it were different but reusing minis? no they are all resculpts, the world is already created though so there will be similarities in style and appearance but on top of being resculpted they do look to be more detailed from the pictures and comparing them to descent 1st ed. models...could just be a progression of modeling quality since then though.

Going on the original idea of this post I really don't get the whole complaint, every miniature game you will see played has a sliding scale of game size and then a STANDARD size for tournament play. I like that FFG is sticking to a lower point size, though I could easily see it increasing like Armada did once they have more than the starter box units released, because it means game time will be kept down and thereby tournament time will be kept down. Fast brutal action with devastating results is far more fun to me than several hour long games where each action I roll 40 dice then you roll 20 then 10 then 5 then 2 models are removed. -

The 3x3 formation makes me think that it is set up to take a mounted hero -
I'll help with this too!
