I don't think they used to have system, but in the past year or two I've seen it be pretty consistent. For example, all the articles on Star Wars: Destiny leading up to its release were posted on Friday. So far, every Runewars article has been posted on Monday. That's why I think we should just resign ourselves to getting our next update on Monday.

I thought that too but I saw one of the RuneWars posts was on a TUESDAY! ::gasp::

the hype train is going to hit the wall of despair if we get nothing tonight... or by Friday end of the workday... I still threaten you with my lighter FFG, this fire will be huge enough to be witnessed from the boat transporting  our awaited game...yes that boat sailing the north pacific without giving a sh*t about those despaired customers avid of playing a game they will maybe not like that much once in hands...

Oh well... f*ck, give us the rules to settle everything in my head : the rules will decide if I buy this game and if I go on multiple core sets. I plan to team up with other angry players to hijack the truck transporting the box to the European distributors...so who's in ? @Muz333 do you have any empty haunted castle to seize for this operation ? could be a great hideout where no one would dare disturb us while we are opening boxes and going to play till we die from starvation... .... ...

Oh no Elrad, you did go too far again... Oh crap, I won't try to hold back, I cannot be someone serious in my life so I won't begin this at the age of... oooops, that information could hurt the sensibility of some peoples here...let's keep it secret :D

EDIT : this post was totally unreadable...

    O.O wow...but for real

GAME OF THRONES NEWS?!?!??!!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!? IS THAT SOME SORT OF CRUEL JOKE!? WHERE IS THE RUNE WARS!!!!!!!!!! GIVE US LORE OR RULES OR MORE OF WAVE 1 I MEAN COME ON THIS IS MAKING MY WORK VERY DIFFICULT

What about Morale cards? Objective/Deployment cards?

Those will almost certainly just be in the core, like they are for Armada.

My hope was that those would be included in the army box though I honestly forgot about the damageesque morale deck...maybe then a second core a la x-wing the force awakens starter? it just seems like it would be really early in the game to drop a second core set...dunno

My guess is that there will be an elves vs uthuk "expansion" core set that has elves, uthuk, the non-faction specific upgrade cards that are in the human v undead set, and then faction specific cards to replace the faction specific ones in the human undead set...together with all dice, templates, etc.

I just don't see FFG: (a) requiring everyone to buy humans and waiquar to get the templates and base cards, even if they want to play elves or uthuak, or (b) selling the cardboard tokens/cards/templates/terrain, etc. in a pack that isn't in a "game" format.

Given all we know (GenCon models/product codes/release poster/Kari card/first wave of expansions), I would be pretty surprised if the release schedule doesn't look something very similar to this:

    Q1 - Core Set Humans v Waiquar
    Q2 - Human/Undead Command (new) / Calvary/Archers (in core)
    Q3 - Voresh/Hawthorne (new) / Human/Undead Infantry (in core)
Q4 - Core Set Elves v Uthuk (new) /  Golem/Carrion Lancer (in core)

After that, my guess is that they fill in Elves and Uthuk in a similar release schedule as the first core expansions and add new stuff that fills in obvious gaps like Daqan Calvary command, etc.

I'm hoping in a future news post they show that the other core items will be releasing in Q2 wih the cav/archer/command.  it would be disappointing, though not deal breaking, if they held off on dropping the golems/landers til Q4 but I suppose we will see...just holding out hope this follows armada's launch release style.

£28 does not equal $25...if that's how they try to price it in the UK then I'm out. Should be £20.

it seems like they are basing off of the old price...I'd be surprised if this doesn't change as I feel it would be a bit ridiculous to have drastically different prices at this point, I'm glaring angrily at you GW /glare

  6. I would be surprised if the rules weren't posted in the game's section of their website.  As for tokens and templates I'm willing to bet everyone and their mother that has a laser cutter will be making custom tokens and templates withing a month or two of launch. That only leave the core upgrades which could be included in the army box...so there will be ways to get around having to buy the core I suppose.  I know I'll probably be picking up some acrylic templates and tokens for this game..

  7. I would definitely prefer that method and they could easily make the army box a 1 player starter box for around 50-60 with half and army or a full basic army comparable to a double core army for 100, then include templates tokens and dice...either way I'll probably be getting Uthuk when they come out...they look cool.

For me, the ideal way to add the next two factions would be to have a new core set, like Obscene mentioned. A new core would give existing players a backup set of templates and dice, comparable armies to the first core, and would be extremely cost-effective. Given all of that, I fully expect them to release single-army starter boxes instead.

Regarding new terrain in an Uthuk/Latari core, it could be neat. I wonder how it would work with the terrain deck during tournaments. Would both players bring a terrain deck?

The more I think about the two new factions the more it makes me hope they do a core set similar to x-wing, I would not be upset about the army box but it would be cool to see another faction(maybe the elves have different template options to showcase the heightened agility?)

I just noticed on UK Games Workshop "Warhammer Age of Sigmar Starter Bundle" at £105.40 ($131.6) - includes 47 Citadel miniatures, glue, clippers, brush and 13 paints, and undercoat. The figures are stunning.

Perhaps FFG could also support the other side of the minature gaming hobby, with some paints/tools ect and look at the level of detail against GW or reflect this in costs. Just a thought, if players are returning to minature games of this nature from a long break (like me) or just starting out they will need a game and also the tools/paints. GW looks like they are offering this and at a great cost with their starter bundle.

    https://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/AOS-Starter-Bundle-ENG-2016

that starter set is $175 on the US site, and I believe I heard somewhere of a potential partnership with The Army Painter for licensed sets similar to how they make stuff for KoW Zombicide and others... That bundle is an ok deal if you are getting into AoS but the GW 2player sets are never anywhere close to half an army and they don't really have the same trade value in many communities due to being modeled with specific options instead of being customizeable.

And Waiqar is the head honcho. I sort of doubt we'll see him as a model. I think you, as the player, are supposed to be Waiqar, ordering your troops. That's how I felt with the board game. But maybe they'll switch it up this time.

It wouldn't be the first time a game put the big cheese of a faction in model form, WFB (Karl Franz on his blasted griffon?) did it all the time, and the in 40k several different factions leaders are present to field.
