Yeah that's why most companies have different tournament classifications with some requiring at least basically painted miniatures and such...and in many organized play leagues there is emphasis on the hobby aspect to help with points in the league, for example Warmachine/Hordes leagues someone could lose every game but potentially take first in the league by painting the army they were playing...
-
Thank you for that tip, as someone who greatly respects you die hards and your extensive techniques I am of the Army painter technique, I know I'll never win an award for my paintings, but every so often I do try add new techniques highlighting is what I'm going to be attempting with Runewars and Imperial assault... So i'm just going to be over here with my tabletop quality army instead of gray plastic

And that was the statement that FFG made in the Gencon video, we are using the same material as IA with 4 poses but as the game progresses the models will improve in quality and customization, though after build a few hundred empire state troops and then trying to get them to stay in perfect ranks I kinda like the idea of minimal poses for the blocks of dudes...but then again I did not build the empire troops in formation which was my main problem...

Who else is probably starting with two Core Sets?
jek replied to Leowulf's topic in Runewars Miniatures Game
I think I may yet modding the heroes into champions -
I was never concerned with the labor but I don't want to smash down the little tufts of grass and bits also and I have a firm hatred of foam for mini storage...too inefficient with space...

Basing mini's yes basing the movement trays is what we are on the fence about

Trust me I was disappointed about only seeing lore, partially because after hearing about the lore guide I don't want anything spoiled, I'm hoping that they develop an in depth narrative similar to other games. But also because I want to see more expansions, there are like 8 missing FFG product numbers and I'm hoping that we get to find out that these are part of Wave 1 and not just sprinkled out throughout the other quarters. But I wasn't surprised because they has already said this post was coming and as most people have already said there isn't much more of the game system to show in regards to the core set. We will see rules post probably around the time the game ships... Other than that and stuff about the upcoming waves...I think we aren't going to be getting more info about the core boxes, maybe there will be a colors of the different baronies, or possibly a few in studio battle reports...oh and possibly an army building thing but I think that is more likely to come post release...

There is a difference between unnecessary rage and disappointment at a game mechanic or aspect of the fluff... anger and disappointment are different than rage, and rage posts are rarely constructive...
-
Well still unnecessary rage is unnecessary... we still have 4-6 weeks till this game comes out so lets all take a breath...
-
I'm thinking that I am leaning more towards basing the minis and having generic trays and like @Budgernaut said just following X-wing's example of Keeping enough trays with my army and all the extra trays will just be in a bag somewhere...
-
Alright, so I liked the article pretty much for the same reason as @Iceeagle85, my disappointment isn't really disappointment, just mild wah me since I pretty much assumed this is what we would get. I'm not sure why there is so much anger/rage at it because that seems a bit extreme for preview articles. I feel that the idea that the people playing this game don't care about the lore is misplaces since there is regular talk on these here forums about the lore and world...so saying it's not LoTR so we don't need lore is a bit of an incorrect assumption. I'm hoping in the next few weeks we do get to see some more expansions and maybe the choice that they made with the Lore is a preview to the faction heroes since, the waiqar hero that they showed at gencon is (I think) Waiqar. Maybe next weeks lore post will be about Daqaan Lords and Lord Hawthorne...

sigh, lore...It's cool but with the news of a guide I was hoping for more game info. :-(

Well then there you have it! -

far more elegant way of putting my original explanation of magic...lol but yeah I agree that maybe they should have called the stat defense (and they might in the rule book we don't know yet) since it tends to encompass everything that makes wounding hard instead of just what reduces damage from actual contact. -
So here's hoping we get some new info today on the game. They still said we would get a Lore update but now knowing there is 30+pages of lore stuff in the box I'm hoping that we get information on some other expansions or rules or something...

Best explanation...every time I start typing a armor should be this or that part I just think well magic...why are light armor skelies the same armor as Spearmen? Magic... -
My concern isn't as much appearance as storage space I magnetized all my models to store them more efficiently and will be doing that with runewars I just don't know if I want to store them on the trays or off until I know how big the tray are I won't be able to decide but if I store them on the tray the tray will getting basing if I store them off...i'm not sure
-
I'm trying to decide whether to add basing to the trays in addition to the miniatures, this will make the trays look cool however I feel that it will end up making storage a nightmare as the bases will take up a lot of extra space in my gem tray storage boxes...

I like the streamlined damage system, I wrote a long post about how all the miniature games I played (anyone remember dnd chainmail? )have gone on a path of simplifying this but in the end deleted said post because saying I like it seemed like enough lol... -
I'm sorry you are correct my original break down getting to 200 was with split cores and 1 of the expansions my bad...
-
when did we get back to the Xwing/armada vs rune wars and how are you getting a full army in runes wars as $250? are you just buying multiples of the expansions to fill trays? I mean if you are buying multiple archers and reanimates to get to different deployments then you should just be getting more cores for the trays and such. Also if you want to split 2 core you can easily get to 200 points with models and upgrades buy a command pack for more options then if you want stop there. If you want to get Archers cool then you get archers and some more upgrades, but you don't need to...its the same as when you you x-wing/armada release a new ship you don't NEED to get them but they may be beneficial because of cards and such but unnecessary to purchase to get past the full list you have collected. The same way you don't need to pay more than $100 for a full 200pt army from teh core or $125 (lets be real $105 after store discounts) to get a full runewar list with either command card upgrade or a unit expansion...I feel like we keep going around in circles...

Cool that's Awesome! We were hoping that we could get his help on the Wiki page we are working on (once again I use the word WE loosely since my contribution thus far is asking @Elrad to e-mail Rafpak lol) We are trying to get as much information on the game as humanly possible pre-launch. Also in regard to typos or what not I had to google translate the blog so I wasn't even aware of anything wrong that wasn't just googles own bad translation lol!. Welcome to our little Runewars community by the way!

I know I'm going to be running my lancers as 2x1 most likely trying to move them near Ardus but engaging different groups so I can always keep a blight on his targets and he can steal the surge ability from the Lancer 2 groups of archers (trying that at first if it doesn't work shift those into a 2x2 formation in the back on my blocks of Reanimates, I'll probably run a heartseaker on each of those if possible. I don't remember what the upgrades they are allowed at different levels are. I'm not sure how I'm going to run the reanimates right now though...
