Blight can be more devastating than a single mortal strike. These fit within the Daqan fist to face strategy where as everything with Waiqar is about synergy.
-
Yeah where are the Waiqar reveals, still don't know what special cards come in the CL and Reanimates boxes and have seen nothing on Ankaur Maro...but Daqan gets the rest of Wave 1 revealed and a wave 2 reveal booooo(hey I found my thing to hate on FFG for! that was fast lol)
-
and look they get column tactics...all that moaning about that stupid card and it shows up on the Daqan Wave 2 box set...I suppose we will have to see some new reason why FFG are evil liars...Man soon my pitch fork is going to be so rusty...

Most of my games at 200 have been between 5-6 units on each side, And with the threat/reroll mechanic have a lot of little units and no big meaty beat stick unit going against a big meaty beat stick unit you will probably die a brutal death. I ran a bunch of little groups of archers with my giants blob of death, they blighted and occasionally did decent damage but it was a maximum of 6, so I think it might have killed 2 cav that activated first and used their plus defense...then they were charged next turn and brutalized. because while they rolled 6 damage they did not roll enough for blighting. where as the 4x3 got the focus of a lot of units, (engaged by a 3x3 of spearmen, kari throwing daggers, and a min unit of cav trying to flank) and while it eventually died it manged to kill a LOT of guys and hold attention, it became a good tar pit that I just supported poorly. I haven't been able to attest to blight since at present the only person playing against the 4x3 has been daqan but i'm sure it will get blighted but there are a lot of ways around that, dial in a rally, run a war crier blight back.. Max units will see a lot of play but it all depends on the list you want to run.
-
I fielded a 4x3 of reanimates and it is awesome, also 3x3 of spearmen with a rune golem is scary. Max size formations are great in 200 points, but they can be pretty unwieldy depending on how the terrain gets placed. But for a lot of lists max size infantry will be very useful.

Any idea if the Undead will get this upgrade?

Looks like every category of card has a neutral option in the command pack, so I would just set down that pitch forks until the full reveal, take this time to sharpen them maybe? -
No it isn't, Squaring up is what happens if you collide with an enemy, it does not specify front edge collision. Collision only specifies that you are contacting an obstacle that you did no contact previously, once again no specification for edge only contact, therefore when you Collide with an enemy on any of your edges the resulting collision triggers squaring up.
-
Page 22 is an example where you shift to fill a whole in a 2x2 when attacking a flank already there is no need to square up your facing because it is already there, but following the way the RRG explains closing in and squaring up it is something that happens in the situation above where the rune golem kills a tray of reanimates, 17 Closing In If two units are engaged and a game effect removes one or more trays from one of those units such that those units are no longer engaged, the unit that did not have any trays removed may close in. 17.1 To close in, a unit performs a speed-1 shift (?) action and must collide with the enemy unit it was most recently engaged with—the enemy unit that had one or more of its trays removed. If there is a collision with that unit, the unit squares up as normal, but any other game effects that are triggered when units collide are ignored. • The straight, speed-1 movement template moves a unit the distance of the width of a single tray. When a unit is closing in to fill the gap left by a single tray being removed, the close in results in a collision. The gap left by the tray and the distance covered by the straight, speed-1 template are identical—even though they sometimes appear not to be as a result of trays being bumped. So the RG was engaged, reanimates die it shifts forward into the space that occupied the tray or reanimates that was removed which results in a collision due to the bullet point in RRG17 as stated in 17.1 the unit then squares up as normal 77 Squaring Up After a unit collides with an enemy unit, it attempts to square up with that enemy unit. 77.1 To square up his unit, the player pivots his unit around the point of contact with the enemy unit until the squaring-up unit’s front edge is parallel with the enemy unit’s contacted edge for that engagement. Then, the player slides the squaringup unit in either direction of his choice along the contacted edge, stopping at the first opportunity for the trays of the moving unit to be aligned with the trays of the enemy unit. So with squaring up the golem will pivot so that it's front edge becomes parallel to the reanimates' contacted edge which now is the flank of the unit. Regardless of the picture on page 22 for the RRG this is how the rules would seem to apply to the OP's situation, It would seem that closing in can give you the ability to gain a flank by careful positioning as the unit loses threat, especially when losing threat to a single tray model
-
you close in, creating a point of contact in the edge that is available by the removed tray, which results in collision that then triggers squaring up, which according to the rule for squaring up causes you to pivot.

Storms Sorceress vs. Uncontrolled Geomancer
jek replied to WWHSD's topic in Runewars Miniatures Game
why specifically with a carrion lancer? I mean bam there is 9 damage, but none of that can go to the lancer since you aren't rolling accuracy, and unless I'm missing something, you can't with this damage...I'm not saying that it isn't good damage just wondering why the singling out that poor lil'lancer -
The pivot he is referring to comes from the squaring up rules. 77.1 To square up his unit, the player pivots his unit around the point of contact with the enemy unit until the squaring-up unit’s front edge is parallel with the enemy unit’s contacted edge for that engagement. Then, the player slides the squaring up unit in either direction of his choice along the contacted edge, stopping at the first opportunity for the trays of the moving unit to be aligned with the trays of the enemy unit. If this rule does indeed cause you to always pivot your tray so that your front edge is contacting the enemy then you would be able to flank with a speed 1 march of the rune golem forward.

Nevermind I'm just being stupid, I thought those from another group looked familiar! The finished product looks pretty awesome!

Heh...this topic again...heh...I honestly expect to see Daqan and Waiqar expansion boxes in the future, but I don't think they will be copies of the core I think they will be new and interesting models...now with that grenade on the floor with the pin pulled I am going to leave this forum post before I get blown to bits and chewed up...like last time (I jest I actually enjoyed my back and forth last time...I just don't want to start it again I just want to be a little ray of hope and sunshine and all things happy with the undead!)

For some reason my links have been disappearing in the forums...weird....

-
why won't hypnotoad show up...
-
or just sell off your other stuff also you will have a better grasp on the rules. And you would already be spending some of the money on the essentials pack anyway, and you get to play the game, and you get to play the game, AND YOU GET TO PLAY THE GAME!!!!

I'm worried the game doesn't have enough factions at launch...
jek replied to Wispur's topic in Runewars Miniatures Game
Yeah I'm going to side with @Ywingscum RMG is much faster play than Xwing...so if game time was your comment that is incorrect...but also I think saying they have already made a bad first impression with the launch is a bit of a stretch. Yes, they could have launched the 4 factions at the same time, which would mean that this game would not be out yet but w/e. It also would not have made sense then to have the 2 player starter, just launch army boxes and the essentials pack. Not really too big of a deal but it would have increased the price roughly $50...I get the frustration that there are only 2 factions but there is a lot more hypothetical doom and gloom than actual doom and gloom. Some groups will not play until more factions, some communities won't adopt it at all. Unfortunately this game will not be played everywhere, and not all stores or areas will have communities for it, but that is how miniature games go they are more popular in one area than they are in another...I think they game is great and well thought out, and I think even if you only want to play one of the wave 2 factions, picking up one of the cores is a good idea since you will just be able to ebay all the models from it after the fact and you get to play the game in the months prior to their release...
