Between Archers, lancers, and the blight banner, Waiqar are getting a lot of ways to blight stuff...so I don't see 3 2x1 archers w/ CI as the only list you can build...but I'm tired of this argument and like the majority of people have pointed out, in all but the most serious tournaments, like Adepticon, Worlds, Crucible...you are most likely going to be able to proxy the card as long as you have a copy of it to start with...The model is not greedy or scammy, FFG is still making the point of entry with the core/army boxes half a d@mn army, better than the alternatives with other game companies...I don't care how many models GW throws into the Dark Vengeance box or the AoS starter those are a mere FRACTION of the army size that RuneWars is. Yes to the people who went all gung-ho into the game they probably will have to pick up some expacs that will have models they won't need...I know I'm going to fall into that category but ya know what? That was my choice and that is my fault for forcing myself into the corner without planning things out. I wish I had waited and but bought a single core that I could have traded and someone for then grown the game with expacs. But I didn't and now I get to pay for my impatiences, that is not FFG's fault it's mine!

yes column tactics is in the crossbow reveal it is the face up card in their picture ^^^THIS! I don't want to get a card in an expansion box if it isn't going to benefit my faction.

@TallGiraffe yes but I mean it will be in other waiqar packs in the future to avoid having to just buy more and more archers Heck! There is even a waiqar specific training with the reanimates box so MAYBE it is there too!?... I understand people wanting to wait when only the core is out, its reasonable you want to see if the game will be good you want to get in when you have some options...I wish FFG had released some extra units at launch that would have been cool but that isn't how they handled their games in the past. I do wish that they had launched all the factions from the get go because people I have come to like on this forum @Budgernaut i'm looking at you, would be playing the game with the faction they are waiting for. But is this the point where you should just be like, nope this game is going to suck or cost to much because FFG is deceptive? No. Basically @Embir82 if you are interested in the setting and like fantasy just wait a few months. I don't think the way they package stuff for this game will be anything like X-wing, and I like x-wing. I just think once the first set of expansions are out there will be a lot of customization you can do with the upgrades and there will be other choices than the CI archer spam.

Were you only thinking about playing the Waiqar? and if so were you planning on always running 3 units of archers? Every card has not been revealed, but everyone is just looking at Combat Ingenuity and treating it like it is the only option in list building...I don't understand...yeah it is an awesome card and the results are clear that if you are running 2x1 archers it is a really good option and I plan on running a lot of it, and I am upset that I have 3 cores worth of archers that I will probably be buying more archers then I would possibly field in current lists, however...In a few months we will see new stuff for Waiqar, we will possibly see more copies of CI in other expansions, and if you haven't actually bought into the game then you aren't in the boat where buying a few boxes of archers will hurt you...Honestly at this point with the new expansions coming I wish I had waited to get the expansions instead of 3 cores, then just fill out the larger units by buying broken down cores...Is there a cost to this game, yes, is there a phantom cost like x-wing where a ship might be terrible until another card comes out from a set you would never need? no If you are referring to column tactics thats already coming out for Daqan at the same time as the Latari get it...soooooo yeah...it seems like the plan is waves will be getting the same neutral upgrades across the faction...fire rune and wind rune have already been shown in waiqar and daqan release so until it doesn't seem like this is going to be the case can you please stop crying wolf that FFG is lying to you? They said they were going to not make you buy out of faction and they are now showing you that you shouldn't have to buy out of faction even to get a card first...

I have seen a lot of new players pick up these minis and not feel overwhelmed with the idea of painting them and to me that is a victory. Most of the people at my FLGS have at least started painting the armies as oppose to the other games I have played where a lot of uniform grey seems to be the army color of choice

You can't please everyone, no matter what you do...FFG listened to complaints from X-Wing worked to not repeat the issue and it just isn't ever going to be enough...they could release a deck of upgrades for 10 bucks and people would be mad it wasn't print for free...

so lets all agree, some people like the models, some people don't. Is that enough to hurt the game? (which I assume is why @banjobenito was bringing it up?) Probably not but it is too early to tell. I know some hard core painters that would probably jump on this as something they can make look good fast then focus on other more complicated nonsense...In fact I have a friend in Seattle that is upset he can't find people interested in this game.

You are kinda feeling my pain now because a 10man squad of thousand sons at MSRP for the states is DOUBLE the cost of a unit of cavalry, nice paint job though I really like your color scheme on the cav, lets me see what my poor skellies looked like when they had skin XD. But yes there is more detail on the GW lines, and the space marines especially when not kitted out so much with all the extra garbage look nice, but that system does not give me the warm fuzzies when I think about playing it, it more so gives me the bash my headies into a tablies. But all of that is opinion...

yeah but unless you are able to do it as an additional action you are greatly reducing your utility in which case, blight is hurting you even before you are blighted...

at least the second one is render, but I think that the big switch between old infinity (also old PP or really any model company and current standards) is that now these companies are using mainly digital sculpting with much better software from either physical sculpting and decade old software. Also it is easier now to find 3d artist with high caliber skill now after the massive growth in the video game industry. I won't start back on the GW sucks discussion, it has been done here a lot. But I think that here we have a really good game system with pretty ok models that are easy to get to really nice table top quality, sure they are cartoony but its the aesthetic they are going for...And I think it is better than the derpy faces of all my WHF empire state troops...so derpy...

I think the protected is because while they have smaller shields they are always up even when attacking, whereas the spearmen have to lower the shield to attack but when the spearmen HAVE their shield up they have much greater protection. At least that's how I see it...

If course it is different but more than likely we will still see releases in waves unless they decide to just have a steady stream of new releases every month like other miniature game companies do.

Except that if you jump back to when X-wing was released and through the first couple waves, they weren't referred to as specific waves they were just four new ships coming in q3 or 2013 or things like that and they didn't set the store up as having waves sections until that time as well...and Armada split waves releasing the core ships then later launch the new ships ...so yeah I stand by my statement saying that this will have stable waves once we get through the release period...but whatever I could still be wrong I'm just going off of all the news articles on the game releases and my own experience from that period...

I will fear the Oathsworn a lot less once I have Combat Ingenuity...but at the same time I will start face Cav with a white die...so I guess they will always be feared...

Seems pretty similar to the x-wing/armada wave structure...especially if you look at how split the first few waves were...

Most units can't really rally unless they are dialing it as an action, if they do that they are either not moving or not attacking, sure it may remove a blight or build an inspiration but it is slowing them down significantly. Kari and RG can rally on white but that means they are not modifying, so only moving straight, or using a base attack, this isn't a huge deal on Kari since she is scary and fast but on the RG it means he is easily avoidable. Also Kari's speedy initiatives give you the opportunity to blight after she activates then hurt her with a lancer using its surge ability...Blight isn't just about spending it to remove dice but it is about forcing your opponent to act with less options.

I Doubt they are delaying I think they have had this release schedule planned for a while, either Uthuk will end up being Wave 3 or we will see them soon...

Not only that but it is also RWM20, so either Uthuk will be RMW21-26 and then a waiqar RMW27?...also are the two new factions also going to get a non-core unit with their waves or what...
